    I would be lucky if i can get 5-7 straight 2x4 out of the entire stack at home depot. Using construction lumber kinda kill all the fun of woodworking

      There a couple that twisted a bit after planing. But overall there were only a couple gaps

    As a beginner, I also get a lot of inspiration from this woodworker to build things I like and that are popular here.
    I'll start making the 2 modular work tables (video+plans from last year) next week for my tiny workshop.
    And these "slat benches" are still very popular here and very easy to sell, and the authentic beaten-up ones from workplaces are still crazy expensive.
    But as I, overall, love the "perfectly imperfect" look (very convenient for a beginner!), I'm sure I'll have a lot of fun "beating them up" with all kinds of rusty tools, paint droppings, etc, and I'm sure the neighbor's kid, Rasmus, age 9, will have fun helping me!! :o)
    I might also try to make some more perfect ones, later on, like those in this video, as they look really beautiful! :o)

    Lay the boards on end length wise side by side and use a short nap 6" paint roller to put the stain on then wipe the excess off with a rag. Saves time and energy.

    So 17 boards * 1.25 per planed board, that'd be 21 1/4 inch deep bench?

      I made the 8 spacer boards 1” thick and the 9 structural boards 1.25” thick so 19.25” deep total
