Austin was a neighborhood with highest number of homicides in Chicago in 2021. Fortunately, the situation seems to look a bit better in 2022.

Yeah this is a nice hood honestly I can say about Chicago the area may be dangerous but it looks pretty good compared to other cities when you know it’s a rough area. Good content!

I’m from the Austin community, central and west end… looks pleasant because it borders the suburbs but people get murdered often here, don’t be fooled

What beauty, the mature trees changing colors in autumn, sidewalks, nice houses, no ugly parking lots like in the suburbs. It sucks that this neighborhood is now plagued with crime.

Austin is the second most populated neighborhood in Chicago, Rogers Park being number one. Beautiful buildings.

City is so geographically large, been here "forever" and have not seen 75% of it. What is in this video, I have seen only on youtube.

  • @RogerFarrell-oc5pe

The only liveable place on the westside would be the island. To dangerous anywhere else..

I was sooooo SCARED watching the VIDEO<<,I thought a BULLET was going tooo PIERCE thru the MONITOR and shoot me,,,,,I had to turn it off,,,WHERES all the LADIES of the NIGHT?

Say what you will but it is a beautiful side of the city, despite the ongoing problems. You can tell most of the residents here are not like those so often seen in the limelight of the news--homes are well maintained with nice gardens and lawns. People out working instead of the open air drug markets of Garfield Park and all over west coast cities. This area obviously has its share of unnecessary violence and out of control gangs but maybe it wouldn't be such a problem if the city invested in these areas instead of building risky migrant tent sites on the south side.

It's definitely a different experience being here at night with people outside. I get in, I get out, and mind my business during my stay.

Until pretty recently, Austin was largest community in Chicago, its population has dropped and no longer biggest in population. The NW corner of Austin near Elmwood Pk (Galewood) has some beautiful homes, as does boulevards just east of Austin Blvd with parkways in middle of streets. At
