Any issues? I’ll most likely flash tune so it’ll pass smog get rid of check engine light but wanted to see how it worked out for you.. performance wise reliability sound etc.
you are very accurate... there isnt much for our platform on downpipes so thanks for your contribution to the buildsh.. im happy i have watched some good content before i cheaped out on my downpipe.. i knew it made a difference from a quality perspective but i had no clue how. This information was very helpful.... keep up with the good quality content my guy!
N55 335i here, it's not worth going with a catted dp in Massachusetts. They just updated their rules, even with a stock do and a MHD tune you will fail inspection and will have to go to a MAC site for a deeper inspection. A guy I know with a 540i failed with a aftermarket catted dp and MHD stage 2 tune. Also failed with the stage 0 tune. Had to go to a MAC site and he got flagged. I had to swap my stock cat back in and remove MHD completely to pass. Good luck everyone!
Look like a great piece, glad you are reviewing it! I'm starting to play with my N55 640i GC and was/am still looking for a great product, at a reasonable price mind you, and this seems to be fitting the bill well for the high-flow cat option I'm wanting. Being in CA, I want to keep my car as smog passable as possible and open it up a bit and still have decent reliability...I know, I know....BMW and reliability dont really go together but still so I'm keeping it mild. I'm wanting a high flow cat, new charge pipe, BootMod3, one step cooler sparks and a change of coils. I might fab in M6 mufflers for the swap BUT I'm debating this about my intake choices as I'm flip-flopping on the aFe intake or the Turner Enclosed Carbon Fiber Intake for the F10 535i as it ifs the 640i N55 perfectly.
i want to get a catted dp for my audi sq5 but wanna wait to get the tune so my credit doesnt shit itself, will it be okay to drive for a few months before getting a tune?
I bought a 200 cell hi-flow cat downpipe (in 2019)for my F10 535i, and it passed emissions the first year, but not the second. Ended up with a failed cat + smell (was tuned with OTS MHD Stage 2) and having to still get an O2 simulator. Now I'm contemplating going catless since I have to deal with a smell and O2 sim anyway
General rule of thumb is higher the SS number, the better the steel and better rust resistance. For example... 304 is the "standard" stainless steel. 314 is the next big step up and is often a feature highlighted in watches as a "premium" upgrade material. 201 is like the mild steel of stainless. It makes the cut, but is not a high grade stainless steel.
@@TheDailyDriver It's a hit or miss with a flash tune. If you re-lock your DME before taking it to the dealer there's a 90% chance they won't see it unless if they are doing some extensive diagnosis that they need to tap into almost every ECU.
@@mikailwahidy9822 Hmmm... good to know. I heard it helps to lock it and drive it for a few hundred miles before taking it in to avoid any detection Any truth to that or is that forum myth?
@@TheDailyDriver forum myth, if it’s embedded in the ECU it’s written in there forever just depends how deep the dealer wants to dive into the software

Do you have an aftermarket downpipe and how did you address your CEL if you had one light up?

Just ordered the Catless from RVG looking to start pushing out F10 content
Any after video? Install? Sound? Etc?
Would this EWG downpipe work fine with MHD? I dont own apple products 😅
I have a 2016 640i with a upgraded intercooler and charge pipe

My 205 mile e60 daily driver would beg to differ 😁

Hi guys looking to add downpipes to my X5F85 but not sure. Catted on castles, I no that I would not like all the pippin and not too loud

When you failed, did you have a CEL? I wonder if your CAT went bad. What brand DP is it?
@@TheDailyDriver No CEL at first. Eventually the CEL came with the smell. The cat definitely went bad. RM Motors brand.
@@Neejay good to know. That's a common thing too with aftermarket cats... they just don't last as long
Is there a difference between sedan and suv with n55 ?
i wish you can mention the difference between downpipe grade ss201 and ss 304 and which one is better

Any videos on the install or sound clips?
How are the spacers working for you?
I'll find out soon. =) Still waiting to be installed. I have an appt with the dealer first to resolve some A/C warranty work.
What happen to the install and sound video?
I gotta edit/upload it. =x

Since Daily didn’t respond, can you shed some insight on what to expect with this downpipe? Did you get around to installing it?

From experience… catted droned more than catless.
