This is my husband's account. I started watching your channel with him and enjoyed it. I am a teacher in the US and we were studying Germany. So I showed my students your tour of the Christmas market today. They loved it. So thank you! New fan.
I live near Cologne and these are the markets I visit every year. So nice to see them through someone else's eyes 😅 I'm glad you enjoyed your time there! If you'd like to visit again, I'd recommend staying the night and visiting the markets after dark. It really adds to the atmosphere 🎄
Lots of competition nowadays with each city wanting to boast of having the "best". Yes I thought Nuremberg was the best (based on a previous visit) but one vlogger claimed it was Wroclaw (which had improved a lot over the years).
@@David-R-Hallwhat is the translation of christkindlmarkt is English? Because we have one near me in Pennsylvania, USA, and I thought it was a special name of the local event, but apparently not.

I lived in Germany when I was a little girl and I still remember the sights and smells of going to the Christmas markets. I made some Pfefferneusse cookies a few days ago and just biting into them brings back memories and warm feelings of Germany at Christmas. Thank you Tim, for such a lovely video that gave me chance to see a wonderful part of my childhood again.
You are a good guy Tim with good, honest, genuine content I really love your friendly face on TH-cam and simple videos are always a nice comfort from time to time
There's a small town here in my state of Georgia (US) called Helen, it's styled after an old-fashioned German town and during the holidays it transforms into a beautiful Christmas wonderland. They have an amazing chocolate/sweets shop that is to die for, of course there's a Christmas lights everywhere and year-round activities as well. It's apparently been voted as one of the top Christmas towns to visit in the United States.
I wish we had more lovely high culture walking streets, but that was the old culture that died to becoming motor vehicle oriented after WW2. Yea, lots of towns and places in the US look European, old places, but the culture is gone. I wished my old Saint Louis, Missouri could have been my city, but it's wasted and high crime. It was a lovely French city as was New Orleans too. Lindsborg, Kansas is a classical cobbled little Sweden. They sometimes have festivals. I live in Utah today. Salt Lake has a nice city center with walking streets, but been dead since late 2019. I want my culture as a vulture. I'd fly on over to Germany and points east except Ukraine right now if I were OK economically speaking. Video life is the culture since 2020.
I got curious and have looked up this town (Helen in Georgia) on google and sorry to bring it to you but this „town“ (seems more like a just 500 m long street with a couple buildings on each side) looks like a ridiculous caricature of Americans imagining how a german city would allegedly looks like and could be actually part of the Epcot center in Disneyland, even the Fachwerk on the house facade is just a fake disguise and the same for the almost like plastic looking miniature castle. It looks entirely like requisite for a whimsical Disney kids movie and definitely not real
@WalkWithMeTim - that brush was labelled as “steckdose” which means power socket. German power sockets are round and recessed and so this is to brush out dust and cobwebs from these sockets.
Really amazing markets didn’t realise how big they are, would love to visit and would spend a fortune lots of beautiful crafts, many thanks for showing us around❤️👍🏻
Wow I have heard about the German Christmas markets but thanks to you I see them in their glory. The ⭐️ in the 🌳 would be a pretty sight at night. Will one day check them out 👍🏾
I used to love Christmas markets , but for some reason since Covid they havnt been back to our area , so this is fantastic for me , and the best thing I’m looking at all the stalls and havnt spent a penny Tim cheers 🥂
Such a shame younhad no snow, that's a game changer. I went tonsee Chelsea play Werder Bremen in tye Champions League and spent some time the Christmas market while it was snowing, was the most Christmasy scene ever!
Cologne ex pat here (now living on the dorset coast) and I’m so glad you featured my hometown - it really is a fabulous city for xmas markets (and there are loads of them! ) :)
Thank you for bringing back some wonderful memories of visiting there a few years ago with my adult daughter and teenage son! German Christmas markets are amazing. My best ones though I think were in Berlin, Germany. Wonderful memories of all of them.
Yes agree the best Christmas market Tim very Christmassy . Fabulous stalls with a good range of Christmas decorations and foods enjoyed watching a great video I loved to go there never been
7:00 Curling actually did have some potential in the UK, my local rink got curling sessions around 2018, when the ice was repainted it included curling.
Oh, you were in Germany? Would've loved to say "Hello!" (especially since Cologne is not far from were I live and/or work). Bummer! 😀 Baffled that you weren't constantly yelled at by random Germans telling you not to film them. X-D Can recommend visiting the Chocolate museum (which is at the last location in the video). I visited it twice so far and it was always a treat. BTW: The sign for the brush says "Möbelpinsel" and thus it should be for dedusting your furniture (I've never seen one of those before TBH).
I love how you can actually get really close to the stalls to properly look at stuff and try it, of the ones i've been to in the UK it's so rammed you can't get near anything and a lot of the time leave feeling disapointed
I went to the Köln Weihnachtsmarkt years and years ago and it was one of my first Christmas markets and I fell absolutely in love with them. Not long after, they became more common in the UK but nothing beats a good German Christmas market! Love seeing how this one has changed, one of my goals next year is to go back to Germany
Looks wonderful, If I ever go to Germany I will make sure to go around this time of year. All that food looks absolutely stunning, bet it smells so good too! Thanks for the video!
Yes, I think taken as a whole it is the best and, yes, the nearest we can compare with is Birmingham. The small round brush could be used for shoe polishing, I can remember my grandfather using a similar brush. Curling is very much a Scottish sporting activity, and as you mentioned, little heard of.
We go to the cologne xmas markets every year. We love it. Feuerzangenbole is the best drink, shame you did not try that. Come back next year and also visit the markets in the evening to experience the great atmosphere.
That is so lovely! I don't know if it's the best for I live in America so I don't get to travel around Europe experiencing such high culture walking streets as that. I have been over there about 25 years ago when I was US Army stationed in Germany. I used to go to Cologne on some Saturdays, but often went to Frankfurt for it was closer to Giessen. It's nicer now and they speak English well today. Lovely!
Curling's massive in the UK Tim! We don't have the climate for it now sadly but even my village in the highlands used to have an old outdoor rink (can still see the shed from it etc) - 2 of the 2002 Olympic champions came from Inverness too :)
Thanks for sharing this Tim! I'm certainly adding a day trip to Berlin or Cologne in December 2024 to my travel Wishlist just so I can spend a day at a proper German Xmas market.
Aww, this brings memories of my trip to Cologne years ago. I actually dragged myself up the cathedral. I was terrified but exhilarated at the same time! As always I enjoyed and appreciated you taking us to see the markets. Well done on those pesky skates too!
😂😂😂 watching Christmas videos helps cool me down here in Georgia because it's been neer 100 degrees the last month !!!! But they are beautiful places as well 🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩

I would love to go to Germany to their Christmas markets. It looks superb. Amazing food, drink, music and other things to buy. Love the tastings they give you too There looks like they have so much atmosphere. Love the stall holders interactions, helpful and knowledgeable How unfortunate they gave you the wrong skates, the ice rink itself looked great, not the usual open oval shape. Thank you Tim
Well, I happened to chance on a Christmas Market in Manchester some years back, and yes, it's a copy, but I thought it was quite ok (says the German person)! 😄👍🌲👏 They had self-made stuff, Glühwein spelled wrong but who cares 😉, and a bit too much Oktoberfest, but it was fun nonetheless, and we have lots of English Christmas songs on the markets here, so it's a nice international and intercultural thing!🤗
Traveling within German holiday Christmas market, was wonderful and as always, I felt like I was out of my recovery bed (not to get all soppy or anything, sorry) and there with you! Tim we enjoy your walk arounds. We must have been there about the same time a stayed 3 nights. A must is the music venue with the cathedral market at night, lights and atmosphere is fantastic. A visit to the Fruh another not to be missed.

Can't beat a German christmas market the best one I've been to is Nuremburg beautiful memories I lived in Germany 🇩🇪 for 19 years
Lots of competition nowadays with each city wanting to boast of having the "best".
Yes I thought Nuremberg was the best (based on a previous visit) but one vlogger claimed it was Wroclaw (which had improved a lot over the years).
I agree Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt is absolutely fantastic and very beautiful. Especially loved the traditional Lebkuchen.
Last one I went to in Germany was in Heilbronn. Fantastic

I appreciate that!
Beautiful to see Tim.
Fabulous looking Christmas Market, lots of variety on the stalls, thanks for showing us around Tim 👍🎅🎄
My pleasure!
Tim, dieser Weihnachtsmarkt ist gut. 👍
Curling is big in Scotland. I live near Ailsa Craig where the granite that is made into world class curling stones comes from.
At 10:36 the label on the brush tray says Steckdose - so it must be a brush for cleaning a power socket!
I was in Cologne last week for the Christmas markets and it was wonderful 🇬🇧🎄
Ooo blueberry mulled wine 😮 🍷 never heard of that before! Fantastic video Tim as always
My friend and I were in Cologne last December, but they were just setting up the Markets. Have to go back, now that I see what we missed!
I went to the one in Munich a couple of months back with one of my mates, its really magical. I love Germany, wonderful country.
Went to two of these markets in 2017, they were highly enjoyable from what I remember.

It's probably the same in Texas. 2 towns of Flugerville and Fredicksburg probably turn into a German Christmas wonderland.
