I wasn't planning on hopping into the Spider-Foes at first. When I was expanding my Core Set, I filled out Avengers first because I had things I just wanted to buy. When it came to the Villains, I had a lot of thoughts but then just kinda said, "Screw it, Mysterio is amazing, Lizard is amazing, let's just go for it. Now, even as I plan other rosters and teams, the Spider-Foes might end up being more of a "main" roster for me. I prefer to be more narrative, so a lot of these support characters just...aren't on my thoughts for fleshing out the roster. But it was GREAT to hear about tactics and playstyles, helped to wrap my head around what the team can and should do. But this video also just reminds me....it would be AMAZING to have a video guide on which boxes have the best Crisis card and the best generic tactics, the "Staples" per say that are just perfect things to have. Because a lot of why these optimized lists are so expensive seem to be getting random boxes JUST for the Crisis cards and such, so making a priority list of sorts would be perfect.
I calculated (hopefully correctly) that getting at least 1 damage on well laid plans and therefore making your opponent drop their token, is 79.1%. So basically works 4/5 times and sometimes does more. I also had the joy of playing a game in the TTS league where I got zero successes across 4 of my opponents characters, each holding cubes. That's about 1/625. I went on to narrowly lose that game, which was a bummer, but it made a good story.
I like Carnage in my Spider-Foes. I know he's a glass cannon, but in my limited experiences if you can set him up right, he has the chance to take over a game. (Or get totally neutralized without doing anything) But I've really liked using him. I also like taking a mixed list with Kingpin so I can swap leadership as needed. Good video though. Enjoyed seeing your thoughts on this one.
Something I dont think yall covered very well, Why Kraven? He's got a cheeky chip damage adding to mysterio. Some decent melee damage. Otherwise I dont think he does much for us. I think Baron Mordo would be a better pickup, he can sit on a point without ever moving charging power. buff some attacks, spread our conditions. He's like Mysterio except you can be a little more aggressive.
Kraven is a solid, affiliated 3 threat. He can be extremely mobile and can dish out the damage. It’s always personal preference but honestly, outside of Convo I really don’t rate Mordo too much!
In my case I like to run Green Goblin, Doc Oc, Kraven, Lizard, Mysterio, Carnage, Kingpin, Rhino, Crossbones & Hood. This let's me swing between Spider-Foes & Criminal Syndicate.
This is the earliest I've been! Been really looking forward to this and you guys didn't disappoint. Newer player here; Venom has been sold out everywhere in Australia for the last few months and I only just managed to get him shipped from overseas. I was wondering if you had an opinion on running both Foes and Web warriors on the same 10 squad to be able to pick either one. I'm trying to make: 1 Miles Morales 2 Amazing Spiderman 3 Ghost Spider 4 Black Cat 5 Venom 6 Green Goblin 7 Mysterio 8 Carnage 9 Doc Ock 10 Nebula. I've struggled to Carnage to pop off in the few games I've used him, but I keep holding on hope that he can make a big play when I really need it. Otherwise, I could swap Carnage out for Lizard, letting me run Venom-Gobby-Mysterio-Lizard-Doc at 17 instead of Venom-Gobby-Carnage-Mysterio/Doc-Nebula I just don't really see what my big threat on the board is without carnage. Who is my big damage boy in this team without him?
I think you are going to struggle dual affiliating those particular affiliations as the only cross over is Venom. Carnage just isn’t good anymore sine AYT was banned and doomed prophecy went Asgard only. I’d honestly stick to one - but if you really did want to dual, I don’t think you have room for Miles and ASM.
Is this guide still fairly relevant? 😄 I've just bought all the Spider-foes characters except Rhino and Kingpin, but haven't run them yet. As a diehard fan of the 90's Spider-Man series, running all these characters+Peter Parker and Black Cat would be my dream! Would be great to have an update sometime, now Rhino is in the game
Hi guys, really been looking forward to this one as this is the affiliation I have gone into. Quick question about GG’s leadership. Does it work once per turn, per character? Or does it work once per turn and only one character can use it?
To be clear, an activation is a turn, outside of something like corvus/proxima. A round is different to a turn. So if you have 7 regular characters, you will be able to use the spiderfoes leadership 7 times. Once each time you activate a character.
@@HuwgeGrin this isn’t exactly correct. An activation happens inside a turn, but a turn can include (to a maximum of three using husband/wife and follow me) multiple activations. So if it was your turn, and you activated Proxima, then used husband and wife to activate Corvus, this is the same turn - so if Proxima uses the leadership, Corvus won’t be able to

Somewhat unrelated to the video, but I'm a relatively new player that's interested in Convocation. The information provided in these Guide videos is super useful for starting a team and understanding their playstyle/nuances and I feel a bit remiss going into that Affiliation without that info. So are there any plans for an Ultimate Guide for Convocation any time soon? :)
With "Well laid plans". Let's say green goblin is knocked out and Dr Oc activates to play the card. Can green goblin contribute towards tactic cards if he is out for the round?
I want to like spider-foes but they really feel like an afterthought in mcp, pretty much every character is better off in other affiliations and it just doesn't feel like a cohesive faction, It's a shame because my favorite villains in marvel should be showing up in it, If nothing else I wanna be able to run Venom and Carnage under a single banner.
It's players modify their own dice first so cover, re rolls ect. Then players modify the opponents dice so goblins leadership re rolls the block from cover. It still checks out as a good crisis for foes.
Nope, order is: Own (attackers) Own (defenders) - this is where cover happens Opponents (attacker) - this is where Leadership kicks in Opponents (defender)

when you say swap leadership, I assume you mean affiliation and play CS?

I've been having alot of glue issues, like using way to much just to make then stick together, but then they don't look that good. Any thoughts?

No, both characters would need to be on the board and not dazed to be able to play the card.

The cover modification happens AFTER the GG leadership. Attackers modify before defenders, so scoundrels may have to be rethought.
