Saying RIP is meaningless in every faith that has reincarnation, like Hinduism, Sikhi, Jainism, and Buddhism.

I appreciate this video so much. me , growing up in Islam, I was taught to say " ..from Allah we come, and to Allah we shall return".
however, I been a practicing Hindu for the last 6 yr. and I still have yet so much to learn. I too often here the phrase R.IP., mostly from non Hindu/ non Muslim friends and aquentence, and I did often wonder what to say as a Hindu. and not having Hindu parents or family, makes videos like this even even more important to me, I'm so grateful for things like this. thankyu so much Shawn. I know yu prolly make these videos for non Hindus to understand some things, or for born Hindus to understand there own religion but I'll be the first to say that " New Hindus" are appreciative as well
. I wanna ask , can yu do more videos on Shavism, and Shaktism.
were I live I have access to hare Krishna Temple, but I really wanna learn the ways of Shaivam, and Shaktism. I love Lord Shiva, and I love Ma Kali, and I love Yoga, and Tantra, an wanna learn more about different kinds of puja, or ways to do them , and Yagna, and Prana, and Chakras. I dnt know if yur into these kinda things, but I'd really like to here from yu about them.

Maybe learning a Indian language or Sanskrit will help!!
You can also read Sri Sri Paramahansa Yogananda books!!
And also can be a voice against persecution of Kashmiri Pundits and nearly extinct Kashmiri Shaivism!!

For Hindus, we say - Om Shanti, Sadgati. Om Shanti for wishing the soul to attain peace. Repeat, attain peace, not rest in peace. Sadgati is the rising of the soul based on karma, ideally towards the MOKSH.

but concept of soul is different from jeevatma according to christianity soul is only for human being..... animals ,birds and plants don't have a soul on the other hand in sanatan dharma we have jeevatma in every living thing that's why jeev hatya is a paap karma in hinduism.

    • @psuyog
      @psuyog 6 ปีที่แล้ว

pawar sufi brothers Who said jiv Hatya is paap in Hinudu dharma... Do you have knowledge about Rugved which talks about Gomedh? Do you even know the meaning of word Gomedh?

    • @vineet6385
      @vineet6385 6 ปีที่แล้ว

first of all my main point was about difference between soul and jeevatma and second thing vedas are not just about dharma it also tells us about our ancient civilization don't mix these two.rituals were part of our itihas doesn't mean they all were right that's why no hindu asharm will provide you meat as a food at least I never saw that .

Hi, small but interesting topic. We in north India usually say "Bhagwan unki atma ko Shanti de" (God give peace to his soul). Here we are praying for the soul and not body. Secondly, we are not saying that his soul rest in peace but moves on to next peaceful abode.

Man I almost high fived my computer screen when I heard you say "We must stay true to what we believe in". That point regarding thinking about it not being "elegant" is so true. Given the bending over backwards capability of so many so called Hindus just so as to please the non Hindus or looking for certificate of secularism from them a lot of jackasses do what they aren't supposed to do hence betraying Dharma. Recently "Aum Shanti" has also been used by many prominent Hindu handles so that's one more thing which can be added to what is appropriate for a Hindu to say.

    Hindus should say 'Sadgati'.
It is short and simple and signifies that we are asking for best form their Atma takes in next birth.
It will also constantly reminds Hindus that we believe in Karma and Reincarnation.
Also, if we say it for a person of other faith who has died. We can reinterpret it and say that for them they can assume we are praying them to reach Heaven.
However, in our own mind we will know what it truly means.

When a lower caste adopts the occupation of a higher caste, the king ought to deprive him of all his property and expel him from his kingdom. (Manusmriti, X: 96)
If a Shudra (lowest caste member) dares to give moral lessons to a Brahmin, the king is to get him punished by pouring hot oil in his ear and mouth. (Manusmriti, VII: 272)
Similarly, if a Shudra occupies the same seat as a Brahmin, he is to be punished by branding his waist (with hot rod) or getting his buttocks cut! (Manusmriti, VIII: 281)
Even if the husband is morally degraded, engaged in an affair with another woman and is devoid of knowledge and other qualities, the wife must treat him like a god. (Manusmriti, V: 154)
Women should never be allowed by their guardians to act independently. (Manusmriti, IX: 2)
If a person of lower varna (caste) has sexual intercourse with a woman of higher varna, with or without her consent, he is to be killed. (Manusmriti, VIII: 366)
If a Brahmin (highest caste) abuses a Shudra (lowest caste), he is to be fined mildly, but if a Shudra abuses a Brahmin, he is to be killed. (Manusmriti, VIII: 267/268)
If a Brahmin (highest caste) kills a Shudra (lowest caste), he is to perform penance by killing a cat, frog, owl or crow, etc. (Manusmriti, XI: 131)
Non-believers, including freethinkers, rationalists and Buddhists, are not to be entertained respectfully as guests; though, mercifully, they may be given food. (Manusmriti, MS IV: 30)
The families of non-believers are destroyed sooner than later. (Manusmriti, MS III: 65)
If a woman should not grant her man his desire, he should bribe her. If she still does not grant him his desire, he should hit her with a stick or with his hand, and overcome her, saying: 'With power, with glory I take away your glory!' Thus she becomes inglorious. (Brihadaranyaka Upanishad 6.4.7)
It is the highest duty of the woman to burn herself after her husband. (Brahma Purana 80.75)
When a woman, proud of her relations [or abilities] deceives her husband (with another man), then the king should [ensure that] she be torn apart by dogs in place much frequented by people. And the evil man should be burnt in a bed of red-hot iron. (Manusmriti, MS VIII: 371/372)
Offering presents (to a woman), romping (with her), touching her ornaments and dress, sitting with her on a bed, all these acts are considered adulterous acts. (Manusmriti, MS VIII: 357)

I m marathi, i never say rip but i m against fake and such illogical news / thoughts
In marathi we say, mrutachya aatmyas shaanti laabho
And christians say, may his soul rest in peace
Now both the sayings mean that the soul / aatma attain peace in afterlife
So why you people keep on stressing such a little thing and spread such a false propaganda
Let people decide what or how they want to say, it doesn't change the meaning
    Why are people so baseless??

You could've simply stated that you don't understand English instead of writing such a meaningless long-ass comment. 🙄

    REST IN PEACE IS ENGLISH!
    Not Hindi!

This is just like Zakir Naik's logic! Why can't I say rest in peace? Just like Evangelicals and Wahabi iiots prevent their people from saying Happy Diwali, etc, you are asking Hindus to become like them.

Sin is universal problem. Sin is ubiquitous. Humanity contaminated by sin. Sin in us by default, not learnt, not taught. Sin manifests in many forms - evil, crime. Sin is the opium. The origin of sin is unanswered.
    My journey.
Sin is pre-existing in all. Nobody taught us to sin. Sin pre-dates The Bible. The Bible explains origins of sin. The Bible provides remedy for pre-existing sin, through Jesus Christ death and resurrection. The Bible is best selling book in the world for this reason. Sin is real, The Bible is relevant. Sin is born at every child birth. Sin is disease of heart, and Jesus Christ is the cure.
Satan is the enemy, came to steal, kill and destroy. Misleads us to blame good loving God. God is not the author of evil.
Media, Police, Defense, Judiciary, Penitentiary, Security, Contracts confirm sin exists.
The origins of life, natural laws, sin, morals, purpose, meaning, conscience, music, creativity, intelligence, beauty, color, nature, water, air, light and amalgamation, remain unevidenced - elsewhere.
We love truth when it enlightens us, but hate when it convicts us.
Instructing to "Heart wash" from sin is not "Brainwash".
God created universe, placed natural laws, made humans in His image, gave talents, instructed to multiply and explore - The Initiation of Science. Science is the legitimate child of natural laws. Without natural laws science has no foundation.
We are created with good purpose and meaning. We are good. Then sin entered through satan and we all fallen. Disease, despair, deformities, deficiencies, depression, stress, guilt, greed, hate, anger, rebellious spirit, spiritual death entered. Sin plays spoilsport.
Unloose the Soul from the tight knot of sin. Soul outlasts death.
Sinners cannot save themselves from sin. Jesus Christ, the Holy God, intervened, willingly died on The Cross and resurrected, for remmissions of our sins, to save us from sin and hell.
We are weak at the core, however we try to portray otherwise. We need Holy God's help, who is willing to help with open arms.
Unable to find any motive any reason for Jesus Christ to die willingly on Cross and resurrect - except His love to save us from pre-existing sin and hell.
Nobody died for our sins and resurrected - except Jesus Christ. Exclusivity
    Jesus Christ claimed:
"I am The Way, The Truth and The Life". "I am The Resurrection and The Life".
    "I am The Good Shepherd".
Jesus Christ has the authority to forgive sins.
Religion says "Do". Jesus Christ says "Done".
Religion is man's attempts to 'search gods'. Jesus Christ came from heaven in 'search of man'.
Salvation from sin and hell is not earned through works or deeds or pilgrimages or rituals or ceremonies or traditions or cultures or meditations or public displays or hypocrisy or making personal sacrifices or making animal sacrifices.
Salvation from sin and hell is free, but not cheap. Because Jesus Christ laid His life on The Cross, and resurrected.
God loves the sinner, but hates the sin. Just like a parent loves child, but hates disease in child.
We are saved by God's grace, not by our works.
Karma is getting what we deserve. Grace is getting what we don't deserve. Only Grace can be pre-fixed with word Amazing. Amazing Grace. Karma is not Amazing, it is depressing.
GRACE: Getting what we don't deserve - i.e. forgiveness of sin, eternity in heaven through Jesus Christ.
MERCY: Not getting what we deserve - i.e. punishment of sin, separation from God, eternity in hell.
Other side of death is eternity. Either in hell; or in heaven through Jesus Christ.
God offers grace and mercy for free through Jesus Christ death and resurrection.
Jesus Christ suffered, ridiculed, spat-on, humiliated, crucified on The Cross, and therefore He understands our pain. He raised victorious, we will too. Those who endure till end are victorious.
Jesus Christ coming again to judge all. The doors will be closed. Jesus Christ reveals every mystery, answers every question. We all deserve to know the truth. He is The Alpha and The Omega. He judges everyone.
One day every knee shall bow, every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
The First Christmas - Jesus Christ came to earth from heaven to save us from pre-existing sin.
The First Good Friday - Jesus Christ crucified to The Cross, died willingly for remission of our sins.
The First Resurrection Day, also linked to Easter - Jesus Christ resurrected from death.
Jesus Christ made entry to Holy Heaven free through Him. Repent of sin and be saved. Easy.
The First Coming of Jesus Christ - He is Lamb, slaughtered for remission of sins
to save us from sin and hell. And resurrected.
The Second Coming of Jesus Christ - He will be Lion, The Judge.
    The Lamb and The Lion.
Jesus Christ forgave all who crucified Him, and now forgives all, even who reject, ridicule and mock Him. He loves all unconditionally.
Believe, trust, repent of pre-existing sin in Jesus Christ that He died for remission of our sins and resurrected, and coming back to judge, accept Him as Lord and Saviour, and be saved from sin and hell. Any time, any where. Even now. Simple.
Nothing to lose, everything to gain.
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
I found God loved me regardless of sins, weaknesses and rejections by others. As sinner I cannot save myself through deeds. He believed me and has faith in me. I am not in competition with others. God loves you all, individually.
(My journal. Journey to life - after testing all 'isms' and religions, after failing to find origins, purpose and meaning of life, after swallowing pride, egos, anger, hate, depression.)
