I find that the people who complain the most about how the battle scene "should" be or what it should do are the ones who never enter battles.
He ALREADY won in 1997 with all vinyl - he has nothing to prove. If he wanted to use battle records, serato or press up his own - it is the SKILLS that win battles - not the machinery. His skills are champion worthy and he battled all the way to 2nd place/ vice champ / runner up in the World Finals!

Completely not a sell out. And he and the turntable did not know each other was wearing the same thing before the battle. He came in 2nd in the World Finals in 08 - not too bad for coming back 10 years later!
FYI - THIS IS DJ SLYCE - he won the 1997 DMC US with all vinyl, before Serato. He paid $ to press up his own records - this was before Serato was allowed in the battle. I think it is wack that people coming on dissing the scene and the DJs without ever knowing that DJ's history. Are you Zulu - I see it in your title. Got news for you, Afrika Bambaataa uses Serato - you mad at him too?

Slyce will always be a Legend in the Battle Scene. But I'm curious what made him change up a majority of his Set for the World Finals that year.
World Finals Judges always favored EDM oriented music over hip hop - They like to try new things in music while US DJs tend to stick with hip hop

Don't know why I remember this being a point of contention. I thought he showed up here to reply to everything and say he just wanted to show something but I can't remember exactly what it was, I think it was about how it didn't matter whether it's custom vinyl or not. It's so funny that everyone here is like "2 records" now that I'm reading this 8 years later. hahaha
