I have 2 queries: A) When you do the out-in-out motion, the initial out has the hand facing to the side. Is the second out also with the hand facing to the side, or is the hand facing to the front? B) When you do the out-in-out with the racket, is the "in" phase purely the racket drop, or do you stay "in" until contact with the ball and only go to the second "out" after you've hit the ball?
I have a further query. I can't see on the video how your racket face is aligned relative to wherever you are hitting it. From the out-in-out motion I assume contact with the ball must occur with the length of the racket pointed something like 45 degrees away from the direction you want the ball to go, and the face of the racket pointing off to the right (for a right-hander) to compensate, since we're in an "out" phase. So relative to our bodies we're kind of reaching over our heads with the arm twisted and then swatting the ball down at an angle to the racket? Do I have that right? It's a bit confusing, though, because when you threw the ball there didn't seem to be a second "out" phase. You seemed to go out-in-level rather than out-in-out. But if my hand is level and I have a Continental grip, won't the edge of the racket be pointing straight ahead, so if you swing you'll just hit the ball on the edge of the racket? Presumably with the racket, out-in-neutral won't work, so you need out-in-out. But in that case the length of the racket will surely be, as I said, pointed across with the strings facing a bit out to compensate? Or am I missing something and somehow the face of the racket and length both end up pointing straight in the required direction instead of kinda opposite-but-compensating? Cos opposite-but-compensating seems like it'll be very tricky to get any control of for a *long* time - like months & months of drilling before it would go in even a small percentage of the time.
Nobody explained this good thank you 🙏
