  • ►Q: What was your strategy for growing your following?
    The important thing to remember when trying to gain a following is to be consistent. You're probably not going to reach one million followers after your first or even second piece of content, but in order to get to the 90th piece of content that does blow up, you need to have made 89 other things before it.

    I chose to see Russ last year in Atlanta at a music festival based off of one song of his “Losing Control”, I only wanted to hear that one song and be out. I was SUPER surprised at how many fans....dedicated fans that knew every damn word of all of his songs. His set was lit, his songs were great, he had a good message and he brought a lot of energy... I left a fan. Did my research on the guy when I got home and again was shocked at how many songs he had out, his streaming numbers were in the millions and a shit ton of followers on multiple platforms. To me there is a lot to learn from him especially if he did everything himself.

    I love "Content is key"! That's absolutely true! Put out as much QUALITY content as often as you can and eventually, your audience will find you!

    Dope! Rhythm is definitely something that can be acquired if one doesn’t have the natural ability at first. Depends on patience and consistency. It’s just pattern recognition really. Flow is acquired after the reps have been put in.

    Gary just get DJ Screw to chop your content up and put out mix tapes lol. That way the music won’t throw you off it’ll be added later after you drop the fire 🤟🏻

    Two questions for aspiring artists:
    1. What are the best platforms to put your music out there in 2018?
    2. What programs to use to mix and record music?

    • @GaryDaylos
      @GaryDaylos 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'd say the best platforms to put your music out on are any of the streaming services (Apple Music, Spotify). As far as programs for recording it really is up to personal preference. Look up TH-cam videos on DAW's (Digital Audio Workstations) and pick one that interests you the most. If i provided you with any value hit your boy with a subscribe or a follow on IG @GaryDaylos. I'm actually an aspiring artist myself :) Peace and love .

      Apple, Spotify, Tidal, Soundcloud, TH-cam. (most distributors automatically do all platforms, plus IG, TikTok, etc) and I mix and record thru FL studio, LOGIC and ProTools are good too! I have videos on my channel if youre still learning!

    I can remember when Russ blew up (in mainstream that is) it was like you either hadn’t heard of him or had been in the loop for a while.

    You definitely could be taught how to rap. Im trying to open up my own music studio, and 😢radio station, then i can create my own music label.the only diffculties im having right now with my music career is finding the funding, or any investors for all the money necessary to make my goals achievable. Thanks for the advice also.

      he was also pretty big on makin a short twitter video of him singing along to his songs. he said it helped to gain fans because they could see the person behind the music

    • @brandonleesanders
      @brandonleesanders 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I Write A Song A Day - Connections from other platforms is the only way Russ is still even relevant. Nobody in the music industry likes him. Its his arrogant attitude. He comes off as a know-it-all. How can you teach others how to make it big when he himself is still just at the starting line? He's earned no accolades or any real respect/recognition amongst his peers in the industry. He's always negative or has a whiney tone in his interviews. What was his last real hit? We'll all wait... 🤔⏳

      @@JustinJ - I’m NOT a music artist you Einstein - “I write a song a day” is a persons user profile name who I was responding to that has since deleted their original comment because they fact checked what I was saying to be true. I’m a music manager and it’s my job for you NOT to know who I am but I guarantee you know several mainstream Artist that I manage. In fact… I’m certain that you’ve unknowingly listened to MANY of my artists songs on the radio or national brand advertisement just today alone. I absolutely stand by my original comment. You aren’t in music. This isn’t your industry and you have no knowledge of what actually goes on inside it. I think it’s comically hilarious that you even chimed in being so ridiculously out of touch. Next time do your research before speaking.

    Gary is choosing quantity over quality by uploading a video like this! Don't dilute the quality of this channel by collaborating with people who are just big names with no substance, like Russ.....

    • @HYPETIZE10
      @HYPETIZE10 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Ed Shorthouse
      “ big names and no substance “ just because you don’t like the guy doesn’t mean he has “ no substance “. You don’t make sense

    • @edshorty8
      @edshorty8 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      His comments about "Quality and Quantity" were cringeworthy - it was like something out of a satirical comedy sketch! I think my "no substance" comment was poorly used on my part, as it has been misunderstood. The guy obviously as talent, otherwise he would not have reached the level he has. However, he clearly can't articulate what his talent is and so has come out with these outlandish quotes in order for himself to appear like a fountain of wisdom. That's what I mean by no substance, not that he doesn't have talent, it's just he can't actually give sound advice because he doesn't truly understand what his talent is. Not worth listening to for me. I'm very confident that Gary could explain Russ' strengths and why he is where he is today better than Russ himself could, which I'd prefer to watch.
