Thank you so much for this recipe! I've made these at least 4 times and they are a consistent hit in our house! The recipe is fantastic as written, though if anyone wants to be extra mavericky, try browning the butter and letting it cool, than incorporate per the instructions. I use about 180g of butter to account for volume loss when browning. So good!
saw these cookie bars in your what i eat in a day video, and prayed that you have uploaded a recipe and you did!! this might be the best cookie recipe ever. i will try them out very soon!😍
Made them tonight for my hubby and toddler and it was a hit. I decreased the sugar a bit since my chocolate chips were pretty sweet and it didn’t affect the favor at all. They were soft and chewy and wonderful. Thumbs up all around! 👍🏻
Thank you for including the American measurements too! I was about ready to try and convert it myself and was scared. Lol why we are not on the metric system?! 🇺🇸 🤦♀️
Hi, thank you so much for this recipe! Love your videos. Tried this today and it burnt on top, turned the oven down to 100 and put on the bottom shelf and it still burnt 🥹 I’ll definitely try again though, the dough tasted amazing xx
Excellent video Kelly. I will be definitely trying this tomorrow (Sunday) my mind is racing trying to think about what flavour buttons to use. Whittled it down to Orange or White Chocolate or both ! Why put limits on pleasure. PS. Is the Wasp essential to the recipe ? I had a Bee watching me last week but it’s gone now. Stay Safe and Well. 🙏❌
Hi Pauline, I'll copy and paste below - hopefully you can read it ok! *CHOCOLATE CHUNK COOKIE BAR RECIPE* Ingredients: 160g (10 ½ tbsp) softened unsalted butter 125g (⅔ cup) soft brown sugar 125g (⅔ cup) caster sugar 2 tsp vanilla extract 1 large egg 1 large egg yolk 275g (2 cups) plain flour ½ tsp salt 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda 230g (8 oz) chocolate chunks (I use Cocoa Runners' 63% cocoa baking chocolate) Instructions: Grease and line a 20 x 20cm (8 x 8in) square baking tin with some greaseproof paper. In a large bowl, mix together the butter, sugars, and vanilla until just combined. Add the egg and egg yolk one at a time, beating thoroughly between each addition until well incorporated. Mix your flour, bicarbonate of soda, and salt into the wet ingredients until a dough forms. Mix the chocolate chunks through the dough. Scoop the dough into your prepared tin and smooth it into a flat layer. If you have some time, place the tin into the fridge to chill for at least 30 minutes (an hour or two is even better), this allows the bars to come out nice and chewy. In the meantime, preheat your oven - 180°C / 160°C fan / 350°F / gas mark 4. After chilling, bake the dough for 25-35 minutes until golden and firm on top. Cool for 20 minutes in the tin, before removing and cooling completely on a wire rack. Slice up and enjoy!
Oh dear! Some chewiness is normal in cookies, especially thick ones like this. It may be that you over-mixed the dough, causing too much gluten to form. Could this be possible? I hope they still tasted good!
