GLVES - Gadigal Country - Yabun 2024

It had been several years since I’d last been to the Yabun Festival in Sydney, but this year I decided to endure the heat, and see a couple of performers in the early afternoon. The first of these was GLVES. The festival publicity described her as:
“Meanjin-based Alt-Pop First Nations interdisciplinary artist GLVES, (pronounced gloves) weaves impactful stories of her life, harmoniously combining electronic elements, soothing vocal loops, and organic instruments to create ethereal and cinematic Blaktronica.”

After this Yabun performance GLVES might consider weaving some wind sounds into her ’Blaktronica’, but maybe a little more artfully than those captured here.

Yes, something a little different in amongst the more usual sounds at the festival which is probably why I wanted to see them. Shame about the wind. It had just started to blow. Thanks for commenting.
