So, for all those confused by the end animation of 5th chapter, here is the explanation. Everything in the animation happened, it's just that the events shown are not linear. Hundreds of years back, before the journey to the West, Wokong and the Bull became sworn brothers, and together they rebelled against heaven, which is the mid part of the animation where the Bull and Wukong fought side by side against the celestial army. That rebellion was also the first time Wukong fought Erlong (the three-eyes dude from the beginning of the game). They lost that fight and Wukong was captured and eventually imprisoned under the five-finger mountain for 500 years. Then the journey to the West took place, during that journey, Wukong and his gang ran into the Bull again. Wukong and his gang were blocked by this fire mountain and needed to borrow the Plantain Fan from the Bull's wife to quell the flame, but lots of shit happened and they made the Bull into an enemy (Bajie even killed his mistress). The Bull was so powerful that Wukong had to call for help from the celestial court to subdue him (he was defeated not killed, loss a head is nothing), this was shown at the part when Wukong and Bajie were talking down to the Bull. Then the journey to the West concluded, and time forward to the beginning of this game. Wukong fought against Heaven again, this time, the Bull and the four bosses from previous chapters joined Heaven's force to defeat Wukong. Hence 5 of Wukong's 6 senses were given to them as rewards, this is the part at the beginning of the anime. When the Bull held Wukong in his arms, he started to reminisce the past. They didn't show Wukong fought the 5 of them in the intro, I guess more combat went on after Erlong thrust Wukong into the mountain. After that event, at some point, the Bull's son finds out about his own lineage and wants to take Wukong's "body sense" so he can become strong enough to avenge his people (rebel against Heaven like his dad and Wukong did). But fear for his son, he refused, thus the father and son are at odds now.

Edit: I was curious how you knew the bosses fought him, I always thought they just got the relics after they dispersed, which is what the Old Monkey at the start of the game tells us, but I then rewatched the ending of the cinematic and they're there.
For those wondering. The fight in the beginning continued after he was tackled into the mountain. This scene happened after that tackle in the mountain. It looks like the fight continued and wukong ended up getting jumped hy everyone.
Basically, the Bull King was part of the Heavenly army that was sent to capture / kill Wukong at the beginning of the game. Wukong is slammed into the mountain by Erlang and is dying. His remains are given to these demons that were part of Heaven's army. In Journey to the West, these demons were captured / returned to heaven after they fought Wukong. The Bull was given Wukong's body after the battle. As the Bull King held Wukong and remembered their past, how he helped Wukong's first rebellion against heaven. They lost after Buddha imprisoned Wukong under a mountain. As punishment, the Bull's wife was forced to have the Red Boy. They all remained on Earth. They became obstacles in Journey to the West. His son Red Boy had tried to capture and eat the Wukong's master, the monk. However, he was defeated, captured and became a disciple of the Buddha. Later Wukong and the travelers encounter a region that was on fire, it was harsh for the people living there. To solve this they needed Iron Fan Princess's fan to put out the mystical fire. She would not give him the fan after multiple attempts. Wukong decided to find the Bull King and ask him instead. The Bull had left his wife Iron Fan for another demon, the Fox (Ping's mother). Wukong managed to get the Bull king to come out of his demon cave and fight, while Bajie managed to kill his mistress the Fox. This pissed off the Bull king. As they fought, the Bull King turned into his bull form and proved to be a match for Wukong and Bajie. This is when the Heaven's army stepped in to help trapped and behead the Bull (part of the flashback the Bull King sees as he held Wukong's die body). Note that the Bull does not die since his powers are similar to Wukong, who can survive beheading. However, he did submit to Heaven. Note the Iron Fan princess does beg for mercy for her husband and gave Wukong her fan to put out the fire of that land. Wukong then continued on their journey and became the Victorious Buddha. After that, the Heaven's Court offered him a place in Heaven and he declined. They attacked and killed his fellow monkeys as punishment. Wukong then goes up against Heaven's army - the game's intro. Wukong loses to Heaven and their allies the demons, including the Bull King. Note that Wukong and Bajie seemed callous in the flashback because it's from the Bull King's perspective - they were his enemies. His oath brother's Journey to the West had them clash as enemies. He felt betrayed.

At the beginning, Wukong and Bull king are sworn brothers(they meet each other since childhood), they rebels against the celestial court( heavens ), but their powers is no match to heavens and all the god ( so in the animation short, you see Wukong and Bull king is young and fighting against all the gods), but erlangshen( the three eyes god) said to Wukong, you’ll never win this or save any of the Yaoguai, and Wukong understood something, listen to the Buddha and protect the monk to get the Scriptures and become the Buddha himself, that’s the way to win this( and protect the good Yaoguai ones, such as the bull king’s family). So their way( JTTW) to obtain the scriptures, heavens wants Wukong and group to also wipe out all the Yaoguai on their way( the bull king family and the spiders ), Wukong’s way to protect his sworn brothers is to take down bull king’s brother in-law, send bull king’ son( red boy) to be a disciple of guanyin, that is a way of protection. And last, took away bull king’s wife’ magical fan. Unfortunately, bull king doesn’t get this at the very moment ( or before Wukong’s death), and bull king second wife the Fox wasn’t exactly a free-spirt Yaoguai ( some said that she was a celestial court undercover, to keep a eye on the bull king), but bull king got mad after hearing Bajie killed her, and so bull king gotten “killed” head on ground as you see it in the animation short, that bring big damage to the bull king. After the gods beat the bull king, the celestial force bull king’s wife to drink some magical water to have a baby ( that which is the red boy), but bull king doesn’t know that and thinking that his wife cheated on him. Now fast forward and Wukong done everything Buddha asked him for and he became the Buddha, but still cannot get his freedom that he wanted, and so he rebels against heavens again, only this time and bull king picked the wrong choice and helped heavens to fight against Wukong. And right before Wukong’s death, he told the bull king to stay away from any of the “body parts” of Wukong, because it will only bring more trouble for him.

He was aided by the gods who has set number of trials for him to overcome. 4. One of their trial was red boy. Another one was to cross the flaming mountains. Both tied to bull king. Only her wife's fan could extinguish the fires of mountain. Wukong defeated red boy and handed him over to some master. 5. Angered over his son's defeat and his separation the bull king and his wife refuses to hand over the fan which resulted in number of gods gets involved in conflict. (7:30) 6. Seeing the situation Rakshashi pleade bull king to handover the fan to monkey. 6:20 7. For number of reasons (6:36) bull king chose to defy the gods which leds to his head being decapitated several times by nezha. 8:05 8. After their journey completed, wukong again leads the rebellion against gods (it was scheme) 9. The bull king was again invited to subdue the monkey in promise of his son's freedom. Flashback of wukong dying. After this bull king was rewarded with the piece of wukong 3:39 10. The red boy learnt the knowledge of his origin and the massacre of his people by the gods. He was angry with his father's decision to be a lapdog of gods and demanded the piece of wukong to take revenge. 5:55 And this is the full context behind these scenes

He's no longer part of Hades' book of mortal fates and he ate all of those immortality peaches that even gods in high position can only consume in limited quantities, he ate the entire harvest. He's chosen by the outside reason to rebel against gods in our universe. This suggests that there might be higher dimensional beings outside of our universe who are on a completely different scale to our gods, whose intentions are unknown.
I think people miss the part where Wukong took the blame for the war in heaven and then only became buddha in the hopes that heven would leave Wukongs and the Bull demon kings people alone.

Guys no need to read these big articles here, point is wukong never died in original mythology, nor did in the game cuz no matter the ending, wukong still exists either in the face of new monkey with all his artis and memories or his fragments living and reshaping.
I guess they weakened the fuck outta wukong in this game because he was unkillable in the actual myth. The gods tried to kill him so many times including burning him in the furnaces that should incinerate anything and all it did was burn away the remainer of his mortality.

It was a ploy by Erlang and Wukong to free him from the crown. Wukong didn't die as the Destined One is literally him in a new body without the crown. Also Wukong wasn't nerfed, every enemy there had given Wukong a hard time in Journey to the West and now all of them are ganging up on him. Of course he'll lose.
you literally missed every single point of the game. If you truly played the game, you know that he was literally being praised as the most powerful fucking being besides Rulai Buddha and he was literally THE symbol of freedom and rebellion. the whole game was designed to fucking get him back realizing "his spirit" is the MOST powerful of all - the pursuit of freedom.
No because sun wukong knows that his remains will create a lot of issues later on. Thats why he told the demon ox king not to take his remain, but DEmon Ox King did not listen and That’s how the demon ox king got that relic which caused him his son death.
i think that since he has 7 stacks of immortality his remains(relics later on) will be constested and used for any means because its powerful. wukong dont want his brother ox to get embroiled with the senseless battle with the court.

It represents all his senses. And there's no significance on who possessed it. As long as someone that isn't from Heavenly Court has his body parts, his reincarnation can take it back and free Wukong from his shackles and have his revenge later on.

It's just a gimmick story nya the developers to attract more viewers. Anything happened after JttW is free for all, since nothing else is written in the story. Wukong can die, and redemeed, and back stronger than everything. Just like superman is dead gimmick, they can't afford to kill the main star. Who else they gonna sell??

Yes, he did study under Guanyin and it’s stated that he returned to the mountain as a kinder person. But the appearance of the relic, and a path to vengeance, drive him to violence again.

They are a very dysfunctional government. The true rulers are supposed to be Nvwa, Fuxi, and Shennong. But the big flood happened (also mentioned in the Bible), and Nvwa had to sacrifice herself to save humanity. Not sure where Fuxi and Shennong went but I think Shennong was never interested in politics anyway and just wanted to be a nature loving god. So then the new heavenly government was setup after Nvwa is gone and there were lots of problems with the new system. Under the new government, humans are like secondary citizens of the world and there were lots of racism going on. Under Nvwa's original rules all beings were equal. There are hints in the original novel that Wukong is Nvwa's descendent as he was born from a rock. Nvwa was last seen making rocks to repair the heavens before her sacrifice. So essentially, Wukong might be Nvwa's final parting gift that she had left for humanity in hopes of one day rebelling against the corruptions of the celestial court.
the events arent in correct order and some are hallucinations. one is the bull demon king fighting the heavenly armies alongside wukong, one is wukong capturing him and working with the heavenly armies, and one is him being executed. That is what would have happened if wukong didnt sacrifice himself
I think I can explain a bit, but its kinda a spoiler, so be careful: Basically, what we see in the cinematic, is that after Rising to Buddhahood, Wukong led a Rebellion against the Celestial Court, but was defeated. The Demon Bull King, his sworn brother, catches the exhausted Wukong, who then barates the Bull, that he always made the wrong choice. After that, events from prior plays in the mind of the Bull, those are: The first rebellion against the Heavens with Wukong, and after they lost, must obey the Court; How Lady Iron Fan, his wife was forced to concieve a child (Red Son) as a punishment for rebelling, and does nothing; Red Son furiously asking to rise up, and rejets the idea; How his wife begs for him to give Wukong and his master a magical fan, so they can pass the Everflaming Mountain, that he denies; How Wukong tries to make the Bull King turn to Buddha, and stop living as an evil demon which he refuses to do; And how the Court binds him by magic, and beats up to a pulp, for doing what he was told to do in the begining: opposing Tang-Zang, the monk, and his companions on their Journey to the West. As he is in this broken state, Wukong saddens, and tries to comfort him, even though they were allies turned enemies. And finally, the Dying Wukong, shares a great secret with the Bull: No matter, how peaceful he tries to live, even if he abandons every divine power he has, the Heavens will always hunt him and his allies down, for his need for freedom will always be an eyesore for them. He also tells the Bull to stay away from his bodyparts, which hints that he probably knew, or at least suspected, that the Heavens will turn his previous allies against him, and those trying to free him, by corrupting them. This also gives an answer, why the Bull King is so passive and helpful to the Destined One/Player, compared to the other more aggressive demon lords, that hold Wukong's bodyparts: he wishes to save his old friend, and liberate him from the Binding of Destiny as a means to defy Heaven. In the begining of the animation, we hear this excact thing: all demons gave in to guard the Senses of Wukong, except the Demon Bull, who took it, but kept it safe instead os using it up for power. This is my interpretation, so it might be wrong. Please, correct me, if I made a mistake.

And the sad part is, he continues to be indecisive, by doing nothing but guarding the body of his friend. When we fight his son, he stays silent, but after Red Son commits self-harm as a defiance towards us, he cries out of sorrow, because even though he was not truly his son, he tried to keep his family safe. That is the tragedy of the Bull King: he is either too impulsive, and can’t see the greater picture, or knows exactly what to do, yet doesn’t or cannot act. This is why Wukong calls him a fool in the first place, and that he never made a good choice on his own.

this game story doesn't make sense.. it is just a game and the story can be anything about wukong... why not just make a fighting game next which has wukong and some demons and gods in it? even better.. place kratos and thor into the fighting game too.. it is just a game after all..

Wukong and his gang were blocked by this fire mountain and needed to borrow the Plantain Fan from the Bull's wife to quell the flame, but lots of shit happened and they made the Bull into an enemy (Bajie even killed his mistress). The Bull was so powerful that Wukong had to call for help from the celestial court to subdue him (he was defeated not killed, loss a head is nothing), this was shown at the part when Wukong and Bajie were talking down to the Bull. Then the journey to the West concluded, and time forward to the beginning of this game. Wukong fought against Heaven again, this time, the Bull and the four bosses from previous chapters joined Heaven's force to defeat Wukong. Hence 5 of Wukong's 6 senses were given to them as rewards, this is the part at the beginning of the anime. When the Bull held Wukong in his arms, he started to reminisce the past. They didn't show Wukong fought the 5 of them in the intro, I guess more combat went on after Erlong thrust Wukong into the mountain.
After that event, at some point, the Bull's son finds out about his own lineage and wants to take Wukong's "body sense" so he can become strong enough to avenge his people (rebel against Heaven like his dad and Wukong did). But fear for his son, he refused, thus the father and son are at odds now.

Edit: I was curious how you knew the bosses fought him, I always thought they just got the relics after they dispersed, which is what the Old Monkey at the start of the game tells us, but I then rewatched the ending of the cinematic and they're there.

For those wondering. The fight in the beginning continued after he was tackled into the mountain. This scene happened after that tackle in the mountain. It looks like the fight continued and wukong ended up getting jumped hy everyone.

It really is good. They even made the third lotus prince look like a total badass even though is known as somewhat of a Girly man.
Basically, the Bull King was part of the Heavenly army that was sent to capture / kill Wukong at the beginning of the game. Wukong is slammed into the mountain by Erlang and is dying. His remains are given to these demons that were part of Heaven's army. In Journey to the West, these demons were captured / returned to heaven after they fought Wukong. The Bull was given Wukong's body after the battle.
As the Bull King held Wukong and remembered their past, how he helped Wukong's first rebellion against heaven. They lost after Buddha imprisoned Wukong under a mountain. As punishment, the Bull's wife was forced to have the Red Boy. They all remained on Earth. They became obstacles in Journey to the West. His son Red Boy had tried to capture and eat the Wukong's master, the monk. However, he was defeated, captured and became a disciple of the Buddha. Later Wukong and the travelers encounter a region that was on fire, it was harsh for the people living there. To solve this they needed Iron Fan Princess's fan to put out the mystical fire. She would not give him the fan after multiple attempts. Wukong decided to find the Bull King and ask him instead. The Bull had left his wife Iron Fan for another demon, the Fox (Ping's mother). Wukong managed to get the Bull king to come out of his demon cave and fight, while Bajie managed to kill his mistress the Fox. This pissed off the Bull king. As they fought, the Bull King turned into his bull form and proved to be a match for Wukong and Bajie. This is when the Heaven's army stepped in to help trapped and behead the Bull (part of the flashback the Bull King sees as he held Wukong's die body). Note that the Bull does not die since his powers are similar to Wukong, who can survive beheading. However, he did submit to Heaven. Note the Iron Fan princess does beg for mercy for her husband and gave Wukong her fan to put out the fire of that land. Wukong then continued on their journey and became the Victorious Buddha.
After that, the Heaven's Court offered him a place in Heaven and he declined. They attacked and killed his fellow monkeys as punishment. Wukong then goes up against Heaven's army - the game's intro. Wukong loses to Heaven and their allies the demons, including the Bull King.
Note that Wukong and Bajie seemed callous in the flashback because it's from the Bull King's perspective - they were his enemies. His oath brother's Journey to the West had them clash as enemies. He felt betrayed.

At the beginning, Wukong and Bull king are sworn brothers(they meet each other since childhood), they rebels against the celestial court( heavens ), but their powers is no match to heavens and all the god ( so in the animation short, you see Wukong and Bull king is young and fighting against all the gods), but erlangshen( the three eyes god) said to Wukong, you’ll never win this or save any of the Yaoguai, and Wukong understood something, listen to the Buddha and protect the monk to get the Scriptures and become the Buddha himself, that’s the way to win this( and protect the good Yaoguai ones, such as the bull king’s family). So their way( JTTW) to obtain the scriptures, heavens wants Wukong and group to also wipe out all the Yaoguai on their way( the bull king family and the spiders ), Wukong’s way to protect his sworn brothers is to take down bull king’s brother in-law, send bull king’ son( red boy) to be a disciple of guanyin, that is a way of protection. And last, took away bull king’s wife’ magical fan. Unfortunately, bull king doesn’t get this at the very moment ( or before Wukong’s death), and bull king second wife the Fox wasn’t exactly a free-spirt Yaoguai ( some said that she was a celestial court undercover, to keep a eye on the bull king), but bull king got mad after hearing Bajie killed her, and so bull king gotten “killed” head on ground as you see it in the animation short, that bring big damage to the bull king. After the gods beat the bull king, the celestial force bull king’s wife to drink some magical water to have a baby ( that which is the red boy), but bull king doesn’t know that and thinking that his wife cheated on him. Now fast forward and Wukong done everything Buddha asked him for and he became the Buddha, but still cannot get his freedom that he wanted, and so he rebels against heavens again, only this time and bull king picked the wrong choice and helped heavens to fight against Wukong. And right before Wukong’s death, he told the bull king to stay away from any of the “body parts” of Wukong, because it will only bring more trouble for him.

1. In bull king's journey he met wukong. United by their sheer hatred for gods they sworn brotherhood to annihilate the heavens 4:39
2. After their defeat at hands of the gods wukong was trapped beneath the mountains and bull king's wife was forced to bear the child red boy. This child is reincarnation of their king (see point 0) 5:29
3. Wukong's master was set on the journey to the west to retrieve the buddhists scriptures and spread religion. He was aided by the gods who has set number of trials for him to overcome.
4. One of their trial was red boy. Another one was to cross the flaming mountains. Both tied to bull king. Only her wife's fan could extinguish the fires of mountain. Wukong defeated red boy and handed him over to some master.
5. Angered over his son's defeat and his separation the bull king and his wife refuses to hand over the fan which resulted in number of gods gets involved in conflict. (7:30)
6. Seeing the situation Rakshashi pleade bull king to handover the fan to monkey. 6:20
7. For number of reasons (6:36) bull king chose to defy the gods which leds to his head being decapitated several times by nezha. 8:05
8. After their journey completed, wukong again leads the rebellion against gods (it was scheme)
9. The bull king was again invited to subdue the monkey in promise of his son's freedom. Flashback of wukong dying. After this bull king was rewarded with the piece of wukong 3:39
10. The red boy learnt the knowledge of his origin and the massacre of his people by the gods. He was angry with his father's decision to be a lapdog of gods and demanded the piece of wukong to take revenge. 5:55

The prologue is a play between Wukong and Yang Jian, creating Wukong's fake death in order to get rid of Wukong's golden hoop.
It was a ploy by Erlang and Wukong to free him from the crown. Wukong didn't die as the Destined One is literally him in a new body without the crown.
Also Wukong wasn't nerfed, every enemy there had given Wukong a hard time in Journey to the West and now all of them are ganging up on him. Of course he'll lose.
you literally missed every single point of the game. If you truly played the game, you know that he was literally being praised as the most powerful fucking being besides Rulai Buddha and he was literally THE symbol of freedom and rebellion. the whole game was designed to fucking get him back realizing "his spirit" is the MOST powerful of all - the pursuit of freedom.

i think that since he has 7 stacks of immortality his remains(relics later on) will be constested and used for any means because its powerful. wukong dont want his brother ox to get embroiled with the senseless battle with the court.

It represents all his senses. And there's no significance on who possessed it. As long as someone that isn't from Heavenly Court has his body parts, his reincarnation can take it back and free Wukong from his shackles and have his revenge later on.

They are a very dysfunctional government. The true rulers are supposed to be Nvwa, Fuxi, and Shennong. But the big flood happened (also mentioned in the Bible), and Nvwa had to sacrifice herself to save humanity. Not sure where Fuxi and Shennong went but I think Shennong was never interested in politics anyway and just wanted to be a nature loving god. So then the new heavenly government was setup after Nvwa is gone and there were lots of problems with the new system. Under the new government, humans are like secondary citizens of the world and there were lots of racism going on. Under Nvwa's original rules all beings were equal. There are hints in the original novel that Wukong is Nvwa's descendent as he was born from a rock. Nvwa was last seen making rocks to repair the heavens before her sacrifice. So essentially, Wukong might be Nvwa's final parting gift that she had left for humanity in hopes of one day rebelling against the corruptions of the celestial court.

the events arent in correct order and some are hallucinations. one is the bull demon king fighting the heavenly armies alongside wukong, one is wukong capturing him and working with the heavenly armies, and one is him being executed. That is what would have happened if wukong didnt sacrifice himself
I think I can explain a bit, but its kinda a spoiler, so be careful:
Basically, what we see in the cinematic, is that after Rising to Buddhahood, Wukong led a Rebellion against the Celestial Court, but was defeated. The Demon Bull King, his sworn brother, catches the exhausted Wukong, who then barates the Bull, that he always made the wrong choice.
After that, events from prior plays in the mind of the Bull, those are:
The first rebellion against the Heavens with Wukong, and after they lost, must obey the Court;
How Lady Iron Fan, his wife was forced to concieve a child (Red Son) as a punishment for rebelling, and does nothing;
Red Son furiously asking to rise up, and rejets the idea;
How his wife begs for him to give Wukong and his master a magical fan, so they can pass the Everflaming Mountain, that he denies;
How Wukong tries to make the Bull King turn to Buddha, and stop living as an evil demon which he refuses to do;
And how the Court binds him by magic, and beats up to a pulp, for doing what he was told to do in the begining: opposing Tang-Zang, the monk, and his companions on their Journey to the West. As he is in this broken state, Wukong saddens, and tries to comfort him, even though they were allies turned enemies.
And finally, the Dying Wukong, shares a great secret with the Bull: No matter, how peaceful he tries to live, even if he abandons every divine power he has, the Heavens will always hunt him and his allies down, for his need for freedom will always be an eyesore for them. He also tells the Bull to stay away from his bodyparts, which hints that he probably knew, or at least suspected, that the Heavens will turn his previous allies against him, and those trying to free him, by corrupting them.
This also gives an answer, why the Bull King is so passive and helpful to the Destined One/Player, compared to the other more aggressive demon lords, that hold Wukong's bodyparts: he wishes to save his old friend, and liberate him from the Binding of Destiny as a means to defy Heaven. In the begining of the animation, we hear this excact thing: all demons gave in to guard the Senses of Wukong, except the Demon Bull, who took it, but kept it safe instead os using it up for power.
This is my interpretation, so it might be wrong. Please, correct me, if I made a mistake.

And the sad part is, he continues to be indecisive, by doing nothing but guarding the body of his friend. When we fight his son, he stays silent, but after Red Son commits self-harm as a defiance towards us, he cries out of sorrow, because even though he was not truly his son, he tried to keep his family safe.
That is the tragedy of the Bull King: he is either too impulsive, and can’t see the greater picture, or knows exactly what to do, yet doesn’t or cannot act.
This is why Wukong calls him a fool in the first place, and that he never made a good choice on his own.
It still doesn't make sense Red Boy become evil again after Journey to West Red Boy already become disciple to Guanyin.
