Mafuyu Bug alt is one I see both sides of. I used to hate it, but it's grown on me for the emotional delivery. However, Mafuyu has done much better emotional deliveries before and since. The true duality of Mafuyu: having both 1/10 and 10/10 alts. I am the most normal Mafuyu fan I swear (I love Mafuyu so fucking much).
I can get that. As I said in another comment’s reply I love the full version’s “administraitor” line delivery from Mafuyu so much. There’s also multiple lines in Samsa from her that make me at least curious as to how Mafuyu would sound on a Samsa alt (that we will never get). I love her, I’d say she’s my 7th favorite vocalist, but there are moments where I wish she did a retake because she probably could do better with different voice direction.
Kanade's phony cover being last made me sad since I actually love that cover and was pretty impressed when her VA sang it when she had covid, but I fw all your other opinions!!

As a massive Kanade fan I can't even be mad at the most of her rankings (especially phony) no matter how much I want to because you're so right, and she genuinely could have done better too because it's not like her VA isn't able to sing powerfully they just chose not to go in that direction and it's just so much lost potential
And it’s not even like I hate Kanade, she has some really high ranking ones too. It’s just she occasionally misses the mark for me and when she does it really feels like a missed opportunity considering how good those one I like are.

Honestly? Based choices for favorites. I didn’t rank it super high but I do use Ena’s Irony alt because I think it’s the best cover version in the game.
Yeah I feel so bad putting so many of her alts so low because I hate Honami hate, but I also can’t lie and pretend her early alts aren’t weak. I’m so bummed about the fact that we’re not getting a Weigh Anchor alt for her because I think it could have been at least another 8/10- something sorely needed to balance out all those early alts.

Okay so basically Haruka’s Earth’s Final Confession SHOULD have been on the alt vocal album we just got. It wasn’t. Neither was Ichika’s Six Trillion Years. There’s something funky going on with the kemu cover alts legally if I had to guess. I’m not sure why because the regular Sekai versions had no issue being put on CD/streaming. Unless they magically appear on the second volume of alt albums they’ll likely never get their full versions released ever.

I tried make the release dates accurate to when the alts released instead of when the charts released. I think some may be incorrect because of time zone shenanigans I didn't take into account- my bad. I think that would only affect a few of Leo/need's and no one else's though.

3:11 this is kinda off-topic, but I think Emu’s singing is somewhat less exaggerated, (but still childish and usually high-pitched) specifically in regards to the way she pronounces words, than Kokoro Tsurumaki’s (from BanG Dream) singing. Kokoro’s pronunciations of words can sometimes make her sound like a girl who’s trying *too* hard to make her voice sound childish and fun, while Emu’s singing voice sounds more like the voice of an actual little kid. No hate towards either of them because that kind of singing voice definitely suits both of them! ;)
What hurts is that they removed one of the best alt vocals for Honami which is/was When the morning glory falls. The reason is completely valid of course. If that all didn’t occur, we would have gotten a full alt cover of the song 😢
this was so fun to watch! i always love these rankings. shanti touya is one of my faves in the game but honestly i havent listened to akito's! might give it a go, i just cant play the sekai version tbh. my favourites personally are kagerou daze honami, shoujo rei haruka (i had never heard it before and i got back into pjsk because of it), stage of sekai honami, meru kanade, moonlight touya, and airi romeo and cinderella! i might have honami touya and kanade bias, and it definitely showed when i took the survey LOL. im excited to see the survey results!

I tend to rarely ever listen to alts of a commission that aren't of the character it was made for (I never heard Toya's alt of Moonlight since I was already satisfied by Akito's but I might buy it now)... but yeah this made me find out about really cool ones Wasn't ready for the number 1 somehow but I approve wholeheartedly!!🙏 I also like the rating system, it conveys your opinion of each song very well without having to make a description for each and... yeah, reassuring that even number 200 doesn't mean it's bad... especially when there are this many 😵💫
Yeah I’m 100% bringing the rankings system to my general annual rankings. I think making it clear that I don’t actively hate a “low” number is going to be important as we hit 300 songs with Sekai versions this year.

Honami isn’t going to get a Weigh Anchor alt because of how the coding works. MEIKO’s alt is 01 in the files and alts are in character ID order… MEIKO is one of the last IDs while Honami is one of the first iirc (certain about MEIKO, less sure about Honami’s specific ID placement). No OC will be getting an alt for that song because MEIKO took the 01 file. Also even if we don’t fully agree on her best alts it’s always great to encounter another Shiho appreciator!
i like the new rating scale a lot!! this vid made me realize that a lot of the covers i like are rlly saved by the group line distribution, namely Nostalogic and Traffic Jam like wow i did not remember the TJ alts being THAT bad LOL, its kinda funny considering how much i like the group versions of both of those. i wish they'd add more VBS duet alts (and duet alts in general) bc antoya Children Record (and akian Egoist before it got "fixed") is just way too good, even tho i like the group cover a lot as well. i (my minori bias) was a little disappointed seeing minori's Snow White Princess so low, it was my personal fav for the song, but im glad her Sonechka alt made it so high! sekai needs to stop robbing her of alts for the songs she rlly excells in (booo and kyu kurarin im still bummed about). i was also very pleasantly surprised by the amount of kohane in the top 50!! i feel like she always gets the short end of the stick when ppl talk ab VBS alts/voices, she's my fav singer in VBS and her improvement since Ippiki dropped has been crazy (tho it does makes me wish some of her covers came out later lol). pretty much everything in the top 50 was a good reminder to me of how beautiful a lot of these alts are and how i rlly should be listening to them more. seeing [1] at number 1 for the first time in a long while was also nice LOL also thank u for mentioning kanade's full kuyamu alt bc wow,,. i did not know she could do that. i wish we could hear more of that voice from her but ig some things are forever stuck in the early game (i miss u minoshizu...also miss u holiday songs why haven't we got one since 2021???)
We were sooo robbed of Booo, Kyu-kurarin, and even Dreamin Chuchu. I actively wanted Minori alts for all 3 but each time ColoPale failed me, failed Minori, failed us all. I know some of her alts were kinda low, but when Minori’s voice does fit a song it REALLY hits for me and I greatly appreciate her.
Im not much for Mafuyu's bug alt either (although the switchup at the beginning was kinda nice) but i dont have a personal vendetta against it like you do 😭

I thought I was the only one who felt the Nenekasa Childish War alt was super empty. I don’t know if the instrumental was just too quiet in comparison to their voices, but it felt like there was a huge gap that the Kagamines used to fill in the song when I heard the duet alt. I also don’t know if anyone else has pointed this out, but Tsukasa sounds ever so slightly off-key in his Buriki no Dance alt, and I can’t tell if it’s his delivery or HiroDai genuinely not remembering the pitches. Also, I know it’s still not particularly high, but actually recognizing the Miku alt for Keitai Renwa is already a win (it’s one of my favorite VS alts in the game). I am a bit surprised at where Nene’s alt of Dance Orchestra was placed; it’s my favorite for the song, personally. I’ve never actually listened to the Bug alts, and wow, they’re… really grating. That is not the delivery I was expecting on that line at all. Your ranking of the Yoru ni Kakeru alts… is so based actually, I thought I was the only one who liked the Kanade alt 😭. As for Ame no Petra, I’d say the reason it got grating, at least personally, might’ve been because of Len’s SP. It sounds like a slightly better version of how it was in Kokoronashi imo. Towards the end I was getting worried that I might have missed Airi’s Snow White Princess alt or you had forgotten about it; imagine my surprise when it made it all the way to 10/10! Airi really did the power of the song perfectly, even though I still think Shizuku sounds better on the verse. I also called it that if Rui got the Love ka? alt, everyone would flip on that song (god, that alt is so good). Honestly, even if I have my reservations about some of the alts you ranked with 6s or 7s (Toya Taemanaku Aiiro… Nene Coral…) it’s all personal preference at the end of the day.
I love this assessment. I feel like I like the Sekai Childish War cover more than most people I come across so finding out that the Kagamines were carrying that for me was a wild experience. Wilder was seeing Twitter be so positive towards the alt while I was here being a bit of a hater. The Mizuki and Ena Bug alts are fine enough for me, but Mafuyu’s is just dreadful. Either way I wouldn’t use any of them because I’m a firm believer that everyone got the lines that suited their voices best in the group version. Like in the full song I adore Mafuyu’s delivery of “administraitor”. It’s one of my favorite line deliveries in the entire franchise, but her solo of the song is just horrible to me. It’s a stance that feels conflicting even though I don’t think it should be. Nene has historically been the most popular Yoru ni Kakeru alt in my surveys, and it’s actually my least favorite of them. I never see people bring up Kanade’s either, but she’s good enough that I don’t mind her being the default vocalist with Miku. I still prefer Ichika even more, but not enough that I feel like it should have gone to L/n album wise. I never thought of Ame no Petra Len as being similar to Kokoronashi until now but I absolutely get it. With Snow White Princess I went in going “oh boy Haruka and Shizuku!” and came out going “Airi you are such a pop princess” lol. Haruka and Shizuku aren’t even bad, it’s just Airi is so much better. I’m glad everyone got an alt for that song honestly. Also yeah personal preference is HEAVY in a list like this. I can totally understand why Nene would be your favorite of the Dance Orchestra’s for that reason, personal preference. I have a bias towards Rui, but Nene’s is nice.
While I'd say this ranking looks almost NOTHING like what I'd have (partially because my opinion on the song itself greatly affects my opinion on a given alt), there are a couple takes that were similar to my own: * I completely agree that Ichika's alt for The Wall retroactively increased my opinion on the song itself (didn't really care that much for the SEKAI version originally). * I also agree that Airi has the best alt for Snow White Princess, so it was good to see it get a 10/10 (I personally thought everyone's alts for the song were at least at the good level).
18:38- #250 6/10, 3rd of the BRG alts. It’s alright. I can understand it being someone’s favorite of them, but I personally prefer Kohane’s (7/10) and Toya’s (8/10).

I think Miku Keitai Renwa is probably the one I’d be the most considerate towards bumping up. Having to rank so many at once means some get muffled in the fray and upon re-listen it’s at least a little lower than it should be.

Honami isn’t going to get a Weigh Anchor alt because of how the coding works. MEIKO’s alt is 01 in the files and alts are in character ID order… MEIKO is one of the last IDs while Honami is one of the first iirc (certain about MEIKO, less sure about Honami’s specific ID placement). No OC will be getting an alt for that song because MEIKO took the 01 file.
Also even if we don’t fully agree on her best alts it’s always great to encounter another Shiho appreciator!

i like the new rating scale a lot!! this vid made me realize that a lot of the covers i like are rlly saved by the group line distribution, namely Nostalogic and Traffic Jam like wow i did not remember the TJ alts being THAT bad LOL, its kinda funny considering how much i like the group versions of both of those. i wish they'd add more VBS duet alts (and duet alts in general) bc antoya Children Record (and akian Egoist before it got "fixed") is just way too good, even tho i like the group cover a lot as well.
i (my minori bias) was a little disappointed seeing minori's Snow White Princess so low, it was my personal fav for the song, but im glad her Sonechka alt made it so high! sekai needs to stop robbing her of alts for the songs she rlly excells in (booo and kyu kurarin im still bummed about). i was also very pleasantly surprised by the amount of kohane in the top 50!! i feel like she always gets the short end of the stick when ppl talk ab VBS alts/voices, she's my fav singer in VBS and her improvement since Ippiki dropped has been crazy (tho it does makes me wish some of her covers came out later lol). pretty much everything in the top 50 was a good reminder to me of how beautiful a lot of these alts are and how i rlly should be listening to them more.

We were sooo robbed of Booo, Kyu-kurarin, and even Dreamin Chuchu. I actively wanted Minori alts for all 3 but each time ColoPale failed me, failed Minori, failed us all. I know some of her alts were kinda low, but when Minori’s voice does fit a song it REALLY hits for me and I greatly appreciate her.
Im not much for Mafuyu's bug alt either (although the switchup at the beginning was kinda nice) but i dont have a personal vendetta against it like you do 😭

I thought I was the only one who felt the Nenekasa Childish War alt was super empty. I don’t know if the instrumental was just too quiet in comparison to their voices, but it felt like there was a huge gap that the Kagamines used to fill in the song when I heard the duet alt. I also don’t know if anyone else has pointed this out, but Tsukasa sounds ever so slightly off-key in his Buriki no Dance alt, and I can’t tell if it’s his delivery or HiroDai genuinely not remembering the pitches. Also, I know it’s still not particularly high, but actually recognizing the Miku alt for Keitai Renwa is already a win (it’s one of my favorite VS alts in the game). I am a bit surprised at where Nene’s alt of Dance Orchestra was placed; it’s my favorite for the song, personally.
I’ve never actually listened to the Bug alts, and wow, they’re… really grating. That is not the delivery I was expecting on that line at all. Your ranking of the Yoru ni Kakeru alts… is so based actually, I thought I was the only one who liked the Kanade alt 😭. As for Ame no Petra, I’d say the reason it got grating, at least personally, might’ve been because of Len’s SP. It sounds like a slightly better version of how it was in Kokoronashi imo.
Towards the end I was getting worried that I might have missed Airi’s Snow White Princess alt or you had forgotten about it; imagine my surprise when it made it all the way to 10/10! Airi really did the power of the song perfectly, even though I still think Shizuku sounds better on the verse. I also called it that if Rui got the Love ka? alt, everyone would flip on that song (god, that alt is so good). Honestly, even if I have my reservations about some of the alts you ranked with 6s or 7s (Toya Taemanaku Aiiro… Nene Coral…) it’s all personal preference at the end of the day.

I feel like I like the Sekai Childish War cover more than most people I come across so finding out that the Kagamines were carrying that for me was a wild experience. Wilder was seeing Twitter be so positive towards the alt while I was here being a bit of a hater.
The Mizuki and Ena Bug alts are fine enough for me, but Mafuyu’s is just dreadful. Either way I wouldn’t use any of them because I’m a firm believer that everyone got the lines that suited their voices best in the group version. Like in the full song I adore Mafuyu’s delivery of “administraitor”. It’s one of my favorite line deliveries in the entire franchise, but her solo of the song is just horrible to me. It’s a stance that feels conflicting even though I don’t think it should be.
Nene has historically been the most popular Yoru ni Kakeru alt in my surveys, and it’s actually my least favorite of them. I never see people bring up Kanade’s either, but she’s good enough that I don’t mind her being the default vocalist with Miku. I still prefer Ichika even more, but not enough that I feel like it should have gone to L/n album wise.
I never thought of Ame no Petra Len as being similar to Kokoronashi until now but I absolutely get it.
With Snow White Princess I went in going “oh boy Haruka and Shizuku!” and came out going “Airi you are such a pop princess” lol. Haruka and Shizuku aren’t even bad, it’s just Airi is so much better. I’m glad everyone got an alt for that song honestly.
Also yeah personal preference is HEAVY in a list like this. I can totally understand why Nene would be your favorite of the Dance Orchestra’s for that reason, personal preference. I have a bias towards Rui, but Nene’s is nice.

While I'd say this ranking looks almost NOTHING like what I'd have (partially because my opinion on the song itself greatly affects my opinion on a given alt), there are a couple takes that were similar to my own:
* I completely agree that Ichika's alt for The Wall retroactively increased my opinion on the song itself (didn't really care that much for the SEKAI version originally).
* I also agree that Airi has the best alt for Snow White Princess, so it was good to see it get a 10/10 (I personally thought everyone's alts for the song were at least at the good level).

I think Miku Keitai Renwa is probably the one I’d be the most considerate towards bumping up. Having to rank so many at once means some get muffled in the fray and upon re-listen it’s at least a little lower than it should be.
