@@zphyrr imo the drastic difference in energy for the mizumafu villain cover ruins it for me; they don’t work like two sides of a coin. their energies don’t neutralize each other and that’s what rids the harmony away from the beauty of the song, so i gotta disagree w u. but their usseewa cover should and will always be universally loved as they literally sound perfect together when mafuyu’s VA actually puts in effort 🫶🫶
i think a lot of people are missing the realization that hit me like a bag of bricks when phony got released: they got the rights to use kafu's original voice; it's not cover only. that opens the door for SO many more songs to end up in pjsk it's CRAZY to think about. she's one of the most used synths out there nowadays, bordering on being the new gumi alongside flower's continued vocal reign alongside miku. it also really broadens the horizons of pjsk to be a celebration of vocal synths, not just vocaloid! i cannot WAIT for what's next
Fun fact: We’re getting another song with CeVIO and another with UTAU. There’s this song contest independent from Sekai that happened recently on NN and if you included a tag giving permission to use it, the highest rated Top 100 and Rookie songs would be added to Sekai regardless of VB or engine used. CeVIO duet won Top 100 and a CeVIO and UTAU duet won Rookie. We’re officially no longer restricted to just the Vocaloid engine for song choices. Teto songs are now theoretically possible. MIRA by Kanaria is fair game as well. It’s exciting.
It's pretty much known at this point that mafuyu's VA is not incapable of singing loudly. She's just been instructed to sing "as Mafuyu would" so she has to be whispering most of the time (except bocca de la verita for some reason). She even explained that she wasn't allowed by staff to growl in useewa because that isn't "model student-like". Other than that I kind of agree that we should get more duets in WxS. I feel like each member has killed the mood in at least one group song before.

I’m mostly in the “I like it but jot love it” camp. I do know people who actually hate it. I’m doing that survey rn and while it won’t appear in the video’s Worst 10, it is in the Worst 20. It’s also not in the Top 50, but not too far away from it. It’s super love or hate.

Haruka isn’t my problem with Vampire, it’s Minori and Shizuku who sound off. If it were HaruAi it’d be 10 times better, I’m sure of it. I hope the next game update gives us alts for it since it’ll be ON Halloween. The time for such a thing couldn’t be more perfect imo.

I think only Haruka and Airi sound good on Vampire. Minori and Shizuku sound out of their element. As much of a Haruka stan I am, I’m more likely to buy an Airi alt for it if they ever release them (PLEASE).

I'll never forgive Chururira chururira Daddadda going to WxS and not Leo/Need with how the music is perfect for a band. Guitar solo? Drum solo while everyone else gets to stop using their instrument and claps. Saki and VS whatever could've even done the arm dance during that time, after which it coud've focused on the intense guitar solo. And the base being audible during the beginning of the last chorus... man
I like the WxS cover enough to forgive it, but I’m sad L/n isn’t really allowed to have fun. Deep Sea Lily seems like the closest they’ve gotten to being fun. I think at least once per album cycle (12 covers) they should get a more fun than usual song. I’ve heard a rumor about Solar System Disco potentially being added at some point but not which unit would get it. It needs to L/n imo. We don’t need another WxS NayutalieN song so soon after Alien Alien (unless it’s full group Newton Dance, but that’s also a collab with Chinozo which makes it somewhat different).

I get what you mean about Umiyuri Kaiteitan but even so, (from my analysis), the song's about a girl's loved one leaving her, causing her to commit suicide, so they might appear that they're having fun but the lyrics surely aren't. I hope we get some more upbeat things for L/N.
Plus, what was the point of the cover going to WxS? Yes, the Tsukasa and Nene duet is great, and Emu and Nene work well as the main vocals for the Sekai version of the song, but in the actual Sekai version you can barely even hear the boys outside of the bridge where it turns black and white. It probably would have worked the same if Shiho and Honami were the backup and Ichika and Saki were the main vocals during the bridge, and maybe we’d even get a more even line distribution between the girls for the rest of the song.
It’s probably my favorite Tsukasa performance, but only in the duet. For some reason he just doesn’t sound the same in the solo. In the duet he’s at his best and I hope he brings that energy to the Love Ka cover releasing on JP this month.
How the scoring for "How Many Non-OG VS Singers I Got Right" Works: • If I put the original VS as one of the singers they're worth nothing as the title implies • So if I were to get it completely accurate it would be worth 1 point, hence the "+1 VBS Archive TOKIO FUNKA") • Every singer is then thus worth a fraction of 1 divided equally by the amount of singers in the final version in the game (only getting Mizuki in Otome Kaibou is worth 0.5) • If I got the number of singers wrong that also subtracts points (Phony is worth only 0.4 for having Mizuki and Ena correct; I think I may have accidentally counted ECHO has a whole 1 when it should be 0.8 because I didn't predict Luka) • the 27 in 7.6/27 is referring to the specific number of songs I had wished to be sung by a group. Any that became VS only obviously are worth 0 I hope this explains it well enough!
i think the thing is, the song covers are actually based off the meaning AND character's backstory or trauma idk, because aishite's meaning ( i think, not the actual meaning im probably wrong on soem of this. ) is basically for attention and love (?) and mafuyu wants her mom's attention ( i dont know how to word it ), and ena wants attention and love for her art. idk abt this, i might be wrong lmao.

Update on my opinion of the Vampire cover: • The 2DMV is actually really nice, I cannot deny that • I actually like the Airi solo. Fans of the cover please calm down there is a version of it that does work for me. I’m sad Haruka didn’t get an alt too tbh.
They're pretty good in USSEEWA and I'm a Bocca della Verita liker. They're just *so bad* in Otome Kaibou. Everyone, including Miku, were just left out there to die. It's so strange. I think MizuMafu would be really good at Pinky Swear by scop. It's one of my favorite Vocaloid songs so I'm not saying that lightly.
I think the crappy thing is about Darling Dance is that not only would Mizu and Ena been great for it vocally, the THEME of the song is perfect for both of them. It seems like a missed opportunity. :L
At God's Mercy seems like it would either go really well or flop horribly with MMJ. (Vampire seemed good for them but isn't good which surprised me) I'm content with it being WxS.
I’m only content with it now that we have the Rui solo. Miku MT kinda bothers me in it. She doesn’t always bother me, I think I’ve built a tolerance to her, but she’s just not it in At God’s Mercy.

My thoughts exactly. VBS Donut Hole is at least theoretically possible through VBS Archives, but all hope is lost for Matryoshka. Sand Planet is the only one of the three Hachi songs that I can 100% agree with being VS Only (since all other MM themes are). If they wanted to do all VS only but something still special for half anni I wish they had done a Teto collab instead with Triple Baka or Fukkireta, Yoshiwara Lament, and Song of the Eared Robot. The campaign would have overlapped with her own anniversary so I hope that's something they consider in the future.
i agree so much. the cut off in the game ver is just absolutely HORRIBLE. every time i play the song i think "i hate how they cut off the best part. couldn't it have cut out the middle and left the last part in or something? it does that for so many songs, so why not here?? the last part is so good!"
I know I'm a year late, but there's a thing with COPYCAT by CircusP where other voicebanks, (except for GUMI) are not allowed to be used to make covers of the song. If it was given to a unit, it would had have to be a solo song (first time in prosekai history) or a duet, which i could have seem mizumafu doing copycat, as they did villain together, and both songs have similar meanings. (somewhat..) so i'll assume it was vs only due to copyright and circus' "no cover" stance on the song.
not really similar meanings imo. one is like pretending to be something you're not and loss of identity or something like that and the other is a transgender (likely transmasculine) person, so not really the same. the lyric about 'pretending to be a boy' in villain is probably a transmasc person feeling like he isn't a real boy, as many transmascs do (and many transfems feel like they aren't a real girl)
Okay so I guess I need to clarify that I actually like Mafuyu, it's just coincidentally Otome Kaibou as a whole and that one line in Phony are two of the three times I think she's sounded awful (third being the Bug solo- full group ensemble is great tho, love how she sings "adminstraitor"). Meanwhile I was worried about her capabilities for USSEEWA because at the time we had only ever heard her sing softly. USSEEWA is a powerful song and I had no proof of her being able to handle it. That's why I chose full group. It fit her character too much to not include her, but I wasn't confident in her ability to do it. I was SO WRONG. Her solo alt of USSEEWA is seriously one of my favorites in the entire game. I currently have it ranked 11th place out of 168 when judging all Sekai songs. If that doesn't prove to you that I'm not anti-Mafuyu I don't know what will.

Yep! They speedran the events from December 2021 until August this year so they could catch up to being exactly a year. In exchange for being so far behind EN gets timed exclusive songs like Copycat, Highlight, and Music Like Magic. So far only Miku Anamanaguchi has been added to JP, but JP should get the others eventually.

Wouldn’t mind it as much if the boys had more lines. It’s basically a third EmuNene NayutalieN cover and they sound so bored compared to the other two. If they were going to do it they should have done it right and they didn’t. I’m team Leo/need Planet Loop (what I should have picked for them to begin with) or full WxS with not Miku and more boy line distribution Newton Dance (also a Chinozo song) if we get any more NayutalieN content.
the cut of the song is so bad. It’s just the song playing as it normally does, goes into the second verse, we get the rendezvous bit, and then it ends on “uketomete” (last line before second chorus) with an echo effect

it's on the en server so if you haven't already, you can go and see the awful cut yourself. the last part is the best part, and they got rid of it entirely. it would've been so much fun to play, and it's just such a bop. and colopale cut it out. i think they should've cut out the middle, like what's done with many different songs (examples include rolling girl [which goes as normal and then cuts after the last part of the first chorus '"mou ii kai?" / "mada desu yo / mada mada saki wa mienai no de / iki o tomeru no, ima"' right to the first part of the last chorus 'mou ikkai, mou ikkai / "watashi wa kyou mo korogarimasu" to / shoujo wa iu, shoujo wa iu / kotoba ni emi o kanade nagara' and then it continues as normal], villain [iirc after the first chorus, it cuts to the bridge(or whatever you'd call it) to the final chorus 'subarashiki akutou-domo ni sasageru uta'] and many more)
All ENG exclusives are supposedly *timed* exclusives. They probably will come to JP at some point. Miku is the only one we've gotten so far, but they explicitly stated from the start they were *timed* exclusives. Miku made sense for Miku Day, but I'm going to assume the others will be about a one year wait. ENG is behind on everything else by a year so it seems fair to make JP and potentially TW and KR wait a year to get those songs. A Japanese Q&A said the whole point of exclusive content on other servers was to compensate for the other servers being behind on content compared to JP.

The main complaint I’ve heard from people is that they mixed out the growls in King, which I guess is a symptom of the Vocaloid fandom’s obsession with growls (I think the missing growls are a major complaint with Mafuyu’s cover of Usseewa as well as (probably) the Sekai version of Ghost Rule, which is why you see more people saying that Mizuki’s cover is better). Growls are fun little ornaments, but they don’t always need to be there, something that the Vocaloid fandom does not seem to understand.

With USSEEWA I’d be fine with the cover without solos but I live for Mafuyu’s solo alt. Villain is a case where it just feels like it should be a Mizuki solo to begin with. Mafuyu being there is odd but I guess necessary for how they do covers. She’s inoffensive sounding in it, but I bought the Mizuki alt immediately because that’s the best version imo.

Because ColoPal doesn’t do mixed-group covers; all of the mixed-group songs (the Cup Noodle crossover songs, Wah Wah World and Sekai, and the anniversary songs) are commissions. It’s annoying, but we have to deal with it.
They should add Knife by rerulili for like idk either akito and ena with mizuki or tsukasa, saki and maybe someone else in leo/need? Idk but its a siblings thing so yeah. GimmiexGimme was so badly mixed. Like, I, a complete novice currently struggling with a Miku cover’s audio mixing, could do better. I’d hate for that to ruin getting AkiAn covers in the game itself, where more effort is generally put in.

Haruka isn’t my problem with Vampire, it’s Minori and Shizuku who sound off. If it were HaruAi it’d be 10 times better, I’m sure of it. I hope the next game update gives us alts for it since it’ll be ON Halloween. The time for such a thing couldn’t be more perfect imo.

I'll never forgive Chururira chururira Daddadda going to WxS and not Leo/Need with how the music is perfect for a band. Guitar solo? Drum solo while everyone else gets to stop using their instrument and claps. Saki and VS whatever could've even done the arm dance during that time, after which it coud've focused on the intense guitar solo.

I like the WxS cover enough to forgive it, but I’m sad L/n isn’t really allowed to have fun. Deep Sea Lily seems like the closest they’ve gotten to being fun. I think at least once per album cycle (12 covers) they should get a more fun than usual song. I’ve heard a rumor about Solar System Disco potentially being added at some point but not which unit would get it. It needs to L/n imo. We don’t need another WxS NayutalieN song so soon after Alien Alien (unless it’s full group Newton Dance, but that’s also a collab with Chinozo which makes it somewhat different).

I get what you mean about Umiyuri Kaiteitan but even so, (from my analysis), the song's about a girl's loved one leaving her, causing her to commit suicide, so they might appear that they're having fun but the lyrics surely aren't. I hope we get some more upbeat things for L/N.
Plus, what was the point of the cover going to WxS? Yes, the Tsukasa and Nene duet is great, and Emu and Nene work well as the main vocals for the Sekai version of the song, but in the actual Sekai version you can barely even hear the boys outside of the bridge where it turns black and white. It probably would have worked the same if Shiho and Honami were the backup and Ichika and Saki were the main vocals during the bridge, and maybe we’d even get a more even line distribution between the girls for the rest of the song.

It’s probably my favorite Tsukasa performance, but only in the duet. For some reason he just doesn’t sound the same in the solo. In the duet he’s at his best and I hope he brings that energy to the Love Ka cover releasing on JP this month.

How the scoring for "How Many Non-OG VS Singers I Got Right" Works:
• If I put the original VS as one of the singers they're worth nothing as the title implies
• So if I were to get it completely accurate it would be worth 1 point, hence the "+1 VBS Archive TOKIO FUNKA")
• Every singer is then thus worth a fraction of 1 divided equally by the amount of singers in the final version in the game (only getting Mizuki in Otome Kaibou is worth 0.5)
• If I got the number of singers wrong that also subtracts points (Phony is worth only 0.4 for having Mizuki and Ena correct; I think I may have accidentally counted ECHO has a whole 1 when it should be 0.8 because I didn't predict Luka)
• the 27 in 7.6/27 is referring to the specific number of songs I had wished to be sung by a group. Any that became VS only obviously are worth 0

i think the thing is, the song covers are actually based off the meaning AND character's backstory or trauma idk, because aishite's meaning ( i think, not the actual meaning im probably wrong on soem of this. ) is basically for attention and love (?) and mafuyu wants her mom's attention ( i dont know how to word it ), and ena wants attention and love for her art. idk abt this, i might be wrong lmao.

They're pretty good in USSEEWA and I'm a Bocca della Verita liker. They're just *so bad* in Otome Kaibou. Everyone, including Miku, were just left out there to die. It's so strange. I think MizuMafu would be really good at Pinky Swear by scop. It's one of my favorite Vocaloid songs so I'm not saying that lightly.
I think the crappy thing is about Darling Dance is that not only would Mizu and Ena been great for it vocally, the THEME of the song is perfect for both of them.

I’m only content with it now that we have the Rui solo. Miku MT kinda bothers me in it. She doesn’t always bother me, I think I’ve built a tolerance to her, but she’s just not it in At God’s Mercy.

My thoughts exactly. VBS Donut Hole is at least theoretically possible through VBS Archives, but all hope is lost for Matryoshka. Sand Planet is the only one of the three Hachi songs that I can 100% agree with being VS Only (since all other MM themes are).
If they wanted to do all VS only but something still special for half anni I wish they had done a Teto collab instead with Triple Baka or Fukkireta, Yoshiwara Lament, and Song of the Eared Robot. The campaign would have overlapped with her own anniversary so I hope that's something they consider in the future.

I know I'm a year late, but there's a thing with COPYCAT by CircusP where other voicebanks, (except for GUMI) are not allowed to be used to make covers of the song. If it was given to a unit, it would had have to be a solo song (first time in prosekai history) or a duet, which i could have seem mizumafu doing copycat, as they did villain together, and both songs have similar meanings. (somewhat..)
so i'll assume it was vs only due to copyright and circus' "no cover" stance on the song.
not really similar meanings imo. one is like pretending to be something you're not and loss of identity or something like that and the other is a transgender (likely transmasculine) person, so not really the same. the lyric about 'pretending to be a boy' in villain is probably a transmasc person feeling like he isn't a real boy, as many transmascs do (and many transfems feel like they aren't a real girl)
Okay so I guess I need to clarify that I actually like Mafuyu, it's just coincidentally Otome Kaibou as a whole and that one line in Phony are two of the three times I think she's sounded awful (third being the Bug solo- full group ensemble is great tho, love how she sings "adminstraitor").
Meanwhile I was worried about her capabilities for USSEEWA because at the time we had only ever heard her sing softly. USSEEWA is a powerful song and I had no proof of her being able to handle it. That's why I chose full group. It fit her character too much to not include her, but I wasn't confident in her ability to do it. I was SO WRONG. Her solo alt of USSEEWA is seriously one of my favorites in the entire game. I currently have it ranked 11th place out of 168 when judging all Sekai songs. If that doesn't prove to you that I'm not anti-Mafuyu I don't know what will.

Yep! They speedran the events from December 2021 until August this year so they could catch up to being exactly a year. In exchange for being so far behind EN gets timed exclusive songs like Copycat, Highlight, and Music Like Magic. So far only Miku Anamanaguchi has been added to JP, but JP should get the others eventually.

the cut of the song is so bad. It’s just the song playing as it normally does, goes into the second verse, we get the rendezvous bit, and then it ends on “uketomete” (last line before second chorus) with an echo effect
@@MarceCloud39 They could have gone from first chorus to the second rendevous section, and from there straight to thr song's end. Imagine the final section with a tap/flick spam of ever increasing BPM, it would easily bump the Master chart to at least a 31
it's on the en server so if you haven't already, you can go and see the awful cut yourself. the last part is the best part, and they got rid of it entirely. it would've been so much fun to play, and it's just such a bop. and colopale cut it out. i think they should've cut out the middle, like what's done with many different songs (examples include rolling girl [which goes as normal and then cuts after the last part of the first chorus '"mou ii kai?" / "mada desu yo / mada mada saki wa mienai no de / iki o tomeru no, ima"' right to the first part of the last chorus 'mou ikkai, mou ikkai / "watashi wa kyou mo korogarimasu" to / shoujo wa iu, shoujo wa iu / kotoba ni emi o kanade nagara' and then it continues as normal], villain [iirc after the first chorus, it cuts to the bridge(or whatever you'd call it) to the final chorus 'subarashiki akutou-domo ni sasageru uta'] and many more)

All ENG exclusives are supposedly *timed* exclusives. They probably will come to JP at some point. Miku is the only one we've gotten so far, but they explicitly stated from the start they were *timed* exclusives. Miku made sense for Miku Day, but I'm going to assume the others will be about a one year wait. ENG is behind on everything else by a year so it seems fair to make JP and potentially TW and KR wait a year to get those songs. A Japanese Q&A said the whole point of exclusive content on other servers was to compensate for the other servers being behind on content compared to JP.

I’ve heard complaints about the the mixing, but after AkiAn GimmexGimme I just don’t hear anything wrong with it anymore.
The main complaint I’ve heard from people is that they mixed out the growls in King, which I guess is a symptom of the Vocaloid fandom’s obsession with growls (I think the missing growls are a major complaint with Mafuyu’s cover of Usseewa as well as (probably) the Sekai version of Ghost Rule, which is why you see more people saying that Mizuki’s cover is better). Growls are fun little ornaments, but they don’t always need to be there, something that the Vocaloid fandom does not seem to understand.

Villain is a case where it just feels like it should be a Mizuki solo to begin with. Mafuyu being there is odd but I guess necessary for how they do covers. She’s inoffensive sounding in it, but I bought the Mizuki alt immediately because that’s the best version imo.

Because ColoPal doesn’t do mixed-group covers; all of the mixed-group songs (the Cup Noodle crossover songs, Wah Wah World and Sekai, and the anniversary songs) are commissions. It’s annoying, but we have to deal with it.
