  • Hope this helps you setup your Gen 3 Tesla wall connector wifi. Had a heck of a time and saw multiple posts on TMC regarding issues. Made this video and helped countless others. If you like this like and subscribe. Leave a comment below if you've got a question.
I installed this to charge my 2022 Tesla Model Y. Also use it with an adapter to charge our 2023 Nissan Leaf SV Plus EV with a Teslatap mini adapter. (see the video below)

Hi, quick question. Mine was set up by the electrician today. I can see the level 2 charger under my Wi-Fi settings. Somehow the installer used my Wi-Fi password while setting up through his work phone, and the setup was perfect. After he left, I tried to search Wi-Fi name, and I couldn’t find the Tesla level 2 charger under the available Wi-Fi connection. May I know how to bring back or see the Tesla wall connector under Wi-Fi names and connect it to my iPhone?

FYI, after none of the instructions I found worked, I did this: (1) went to charger network on iPhone & selected "forget network", (2) turned the breaker off & on, (3) waited for the single pulsing green light, (4) when the charger network appeared, tapped on it to connect and entered the password on the sticker on the quick-start manual, (5) once it showed connected, I typed in the URL -- ONLY THEN was I logged into the unit with the actual interface displaying. From there I was able to choose & connect to home wifi. In about a minute the charger showed connection to internet, followed by connection to Tesla servers. The moment it did that, a software update appeared, the unit automatically installed the update and rebooted. After that, I could log into the unit and go through the full interface, including power sharing setup, etc.

Was having a hard time too but was able to finally connect. Used laptop, turned on Bluetooth, not sure if it made a difference. It would connect then disconnect at first so I was trying my phone at the same time. I was also able to connect with the phone this time but it reconnected back to home Wi-Fi so I put it on “forget this network” in the meantime. It took a while to connect at first so I tried the laptop again and it finally connected and so did my phone. I also moved my laptop and phone during set up closer to the router where I can get a better signal but not too far from the wall charger, where as before I was right next to the wall charger where there’s no Wi-Fi signal. Good luck!

Unfortunately no message just a pulsing green light and you are able to access the web page where you can modify the charger settings. Such as adding to wifi network, setting max amperage, determine who can charge, see firmware version, and update manually.
Are you seeing Amy of that?

Nice job on a clear video, I needed to commission with my Macbook using google browser as my Iphone with safari browser seemed to quickly disconnect from the WiFi host in the charger and even the MacBook would only stay connected for about a minute but would reconnect and let me finish the commissioning and connect the charger to my local WiFi network. With 6-3 cable I connected the white wire to the sub panel neutral but just shrink wrapped it at the charger. L1, L2 and GND are all that are needed and the single bare wire is sufficient. I suppose I could have used 6-2 wire.

I'm not using wpa3 but that's because of some older computers still in use around the house. I've also read the while the manual states wpa3 works. In real life many users report issues. They usually create a guest network without wpa3 so the home network has that security. Good luck.

Do you know if this information is still current with the latest software? When mine was installed a few weeks ago, i tried commissioning via the tesla one app per the instructions, but it seemed you had to be a tesla certified electrician to use the app. Eventually I gave up on it and just added the connectors to my tesla app without commissioning them. Which works fine for charging, but I don't have access to most of the deeper configuration, like load balancing.

I successfully setup (I think) with the checks and confirmation of connected. However, what happens when I want to switch my phone back to my normal home wifi? Do you have to toggle between your home Wi-Fi (normal daily non-Tesla use) and the Tesla Wi-Fi anytime you need to use the wall charger or check for an update? I assumed it would do this automatically once connected, but once I go back to my home Wi-Fi it says “lost connection to device” anytime I try to go back to the wall charger page. I have to leave my home Wi-Fi, go back to Tesla Wi-Fi, and then I can access page. Seems silly because then my phone won’t access any normal internet or apps…unless I am doing something wrong. It’s also still flashing green vs steady green light.

Since I had just refreshed the password today... I told my phone to forget it. No sooner had I turned BOTH the internet wifi and phone internet it worked. Also putting your phone in airplane then turning on wifi can help force it to stay with the wifi being broadcast by the Wall connector. Let me know what you find out. And report back.

Hi I had my electrician install 2 x. gen 3 chargers. To charge my byd At first both were working fine the one of the units stopped charging and would not connect to car the blue light stays on ? And car said it connecting wait a minute
Then 2 weeks later the 2nd unit is doing the same thing ?
I rang Tesla they said it’s the car and it’s well known that byd don’t like to be charged with Tesla charges but yet I cannot find anything about this

I have no problem charging the car at any charging stations

Sounds like either a faulty install or the car. The charger is just a charger and it can charge anything...

    • @bp6ud
      @bp6ud 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

In case it helps anyone in future, my issue ended up being a faulty wall connector unit. It connected and started charging only once, straight after install, then wouldn't connect to the car again (my BYD sometimes citing OBC issues when trying to connect to the wall charger).
Tesla support were great and organised a new wall connector to be sent out and commissioned a Tesla approved technician to swap the unit at no cost to me. The technician said they have hundreds of units waiting to be sent back to Tesla, so it seems faulty units are not an uncommon issue. 3 months later and have had no issues with the replacement unit. It works like a dream (touch wood).
Given the wall connector is one of the cheaper units on the market, maybe QA testing is where the factory are cutting costs.

Very sound video but I can not get wifi to work Got the Connector WIFI to connect and made it through the Tesla IP address but could NOT get it connected to my home wifi. Well, I figured out my own answer. If you have a home wifi network that is capable of doing WPA2 and WPA3 the wall charger will NOT connect. Once you set up the configurations, just exit the URL address, disconnect from the WI-FI address to the charger, and then plug in your Tesla.
