- The biggest underdog story in NBA history isn’t well known but a star from the ‘90’s used to work at a grocery store. He barely made the NBA but once he got there he became a legend.

Glad to see someone highlighting the positives of Starks’ career. People shouldn’t be just defined by one or two bad moments.

There’s a hell of a difference in “bad” when in respect to those things. Plus, it’s not as if he just had sex with her and had the kid, and then was an actual father. He intentionally missed out on that kid’s life. So it’s a lot more than a couple bad moments

Amazingly, Starks gets hate for that Game 7 performance when Patrick was MIA for the entire series. I don't care that he was playing against Hakeem, he's an all-time great too, and should've played better. Expecting an undrafted, inefficient, fringe All-Star to carry a team to a championship was insane.

Growing up as a kid in NYC in the 90’s starks jerseys were everywhere
He was one of my favourite players growing up...oddly, him and Pippen. Both have inspiring stories.
One of the greatest Knicks player of all time. Because no one knew that he played with the Golden State Warriors and the Utah Jazz. The team that he retired from, but he will always be remembered. As a New York Knicks for life.
The Bulls were my team in the 90’s but I was fan of Starks too. I loved his intensity and crazyness. That rivalry with the Bulls was great during the playoffs. And that dunk was epic. That Knicks team deserved championship trophy too.
Love John Starks and those 90’s Knick teams, one of my all time favorite players…and that baseline dunk on Da Bulls was filthy.

Finally some respect for my boy starks
John Starks was one of my favorite players back in the 1990's with the NY Knicks for the simple fact that he made it to the NBA on a NY Knicks roster as a blue-collar guy. Sometimes in life, it's not the superstars that are inspiring. To a degree, I used a player like John Starks as an inspiration to obtain my bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Many critics stated that John Starks wouldn't make in the NBA. And somehow he did regardless of how, he made it. I enjoyed listening to Michael Jordan's Hall-of-Fame speech. I remembered MJ said something like "John, I love you," I had assumed he was complimenting John Paxson, his teammate. I always revered that guy too. I'm a bit different from other fans, I appreciate the players not often discussed. Those are the reasons why I love the game of basketball. Team game.
