im getting angry now. ive given this stuff to 3 of my elephants, the third one just died. I don't care about clean tusks anymore, how the fuck am I supposed to get to work tomorrow?
I tried it with the 3% H2O2 that I had under my sink for small scrapes and a mixture of 10g/L of potasium iodide that I had left over from my last job. Nothing happened. I added some iodine I had on hand, a 36% mixture of hydrochloric acid, and some baking soda for good effect. My girls loved it. It turned a few spots in my sink purple. I'm thinking it was where some grease residue was because it wiped right off. The smell of the hydrochloric acid was not a hit, but who likes the smell of Death's farts? After the chemical reaction there were no lingering vapors or smells.
I m doing this experiment but not working .I added h2o2 and dish wash liquid soap and added too KI but not working .what if I is add KI to hot water instead of normal water will it work and another question is that h2o2 is necessary to add in perfect amt
many catalysts would work. Yeast for lower concentrations of hydrogen peroxide, sodium iodide or potassium permangante for higher hydrogen peroxide concentrations. Yes, heat would probaly be more sufficient for the reaction.
How can one notice that iodide is not participating in the reaction (2:10) ? It actually is reacting, see the brown discolouration especially at the beginning (formation of iodine I2 through oxidation of iodide by peroxide). Another compound namely manganese(IV)oxide MnO2 would be a better example for a catalyst of the decomposition of peroxide. But the experiment is still nice to watch!
at 1:24 its just water because potassium iodide is soluble in water. In 1:41 the man is pouring the watered down potassium iodide into the hydrogen peroxide/ soap mix
Yeast works, but not as well. A similar but much more extothermic reaction would be with MnO2. You could get this from a dry cell battery. It also has electrolytes and carbon in it, but it should not matter. Source (I just did it)
The foamy substances is caused by the soap that they added into the reaction, the bubbles from the soap contain O2 and Some H2O(g) [gaseous or vapor] it also contains iodine , and MAY contain iodine vapor (This is a may because, depending on the Conc. of the H2O2 depend, that will determine the heat and speed of the catalyzed Decomposition of the H2O2 in to H2O and O2 , the heat may in turn cause the Iodine that might have formed to turn into iodine vapor )
Water. To dissolve the potassium iodide. But as little as possible so that it is saturated in liquid form. Don't add too much as this will dilute the concentration.

you have to make sure the elephant spit it out and don't swallow .
I wish I could favorite this comment.

true
is this a dad joke?
Even 11 years later, this still helped me to make a good elephant's toothpaste
It’s 1 am rn and I’m writing a chemistry test and this really helps
What?? In the bathroom
I tried this experiment with my 8th grade students, became their favorite teacher lol
Cool teacher
How tell me too
Wish my teacher did it too
Great teacher btw hello after 7 years😃😃
Nice done^^ It was good that you also had reaction equations and explanation, good job^^
wow! chemistry is really fun and fantastic..😀
If u have a slightly lit fire, and u dab it on the yellow foam, it will ignite a fire because it is oxygen gas in the foam.
my house was filled with this shit thanks bro (,:
i know it is pretty randomly asking but do anybody know a good place to watch new series online?
@Logan Mauricio I would suggest flixzone. You can find it on google =)
@Logan Mauricio Try FlixZone. Just search on google for it =)
Cs + H2O, now that's a fun experiment! :) for things that go BOOM in the night!
It was like so beautiful to see it. I love this reaction❤️

hiya
would you go to samthestory.simplesite.com for me?
Wow, amazing.
Nice experiment. I encourage you to do more
This experiment is so beautiful. I try your experiment
One of my favorite experiments. So easy/safe and plain entertaining. I like that I can do it with kids.
potassium iodine can be changed out with dry active yeast, if you are not a chemistry professor
To the guy below that said you cant touch it because it will burn you it wont. I just did this last Friday. It's not boiling hot its just warm.
It depends on the amount of reagents & their concentrations. At a right amount, they can cause 2nd degree chemical burns.
amazing experiment
sososo much good i also tried
I m doing this experiment but not working .I added h2o2 and dish wash liquid soap and added too KI but not working .what if I is add KI to hot water instead of normal water will it work and another question is that h2o2 is necessary to add in perfect amt
Simple chemistry but still nice to watch :)
it's most likely water. water slows the reaction down just a little bit, so that it doesn't totally shoot out of the beaker.
WOW! fome it's so amazing.
Awesome
That's a nice way to poison an elephant
Where can you buy this... I see liquid forms of potassium iodide everywhere but never crystallized or powder
Amazing !
who kept replaying the part of when it comes out the tube and turns white and puffs up I did IT'S SO SATISFYING
Wow amazing

Where can I buy the potassium iodine and 30% H2O2 .
And what is the of the last liquid that he Add ?
Where can I buy it ?

You can also use 1%hydrogen peroxide and yeast as potassium iodine.
1: Amazon
2: Water
3: Amazon

Hydrogen peroxide is an antiseptic

Scientists: we did elephant toothpaste 12 years ago
TH-camrs now: Well, we create formulatiosn for Godzilla and kong
Great!
I have done this experiment in college It was good
So then the foam is simply aqueous potassium iodide then?
Looks like that Great Stuff foam you can use to seal walls and door frames.
Yessss
very nice !!!
what is the liqued stuff you put in after you put in the potassium iodine??
woah, that was cool
Bravo!!!!!!! and movolous!!!.nice.
very nice example
That is awesome
Wow i love it
when you put the potassium iodide, what was the other thing you put?water?
I think it's warm water
7 year old me - That is so disgusting
19 year old me - It's so satisfying
Okay, so the only products of the reaction are water and oxygen, and potassium iodide is a food additive. Therefore, cleanup is relatively easy!
which chemical gas law is used in this demonstration? is it avogados?
what other catalysts would you suggest?
Would increased heat be sufficient for the reaction?
many catalysts would work. Yeast for lower concentrations of hydrogen peroxide, sodium iodide or potassium permangante for higher hydrogen peroxide concentrations.
Yes, heat would probaly be more sufficient for the reaction.
@@alexslab.4875 Where do I get 30% hydrogen peroxide
I don't get in my local area medical shops
I got 95% from my local chemical distributor, and I just dilute it my self
good one.......
Reminds me of honey lemon from big hero 6
xD epik!!!! ))))))))))))))
Goodwork

you monsters, you created another stay puft marshmallow man!
Is that the kinda stuff they used in that Pippi Longstocking movie?
when you put the potassium iodide what was the next thing you put, water?
lol
How do u prepared this ki into liquid
what a super project
Can this be done with sodium iodide?
Very nice
Does the potassium iodide must be a solution first before putting on the hydrogen peroxide? Pls answer this, im gonna use this as an project.
Yes, it should be in solution.
@@zoop34 How do I make the potassium iodide crystals into a solution.?
Cathy Healy smash them up and dissolve them in water.
How much exactly do i pour in the hydrogen Peroxide and the hot water? (measurement)
Why didn't you use a Besselheim plate to transport the potassium iodide?
Doing this tmrw in the lab for science week! Wish me luck

Wery good reaction!!
Jakub0071 so I was 4 when you said this

Could you tell me please, what was poured in 1.24 and 1.41? Thank You very much!
at 1:24 its just water because potassium iodide is soluble in water. In 1:41 the man is pouring the watered down potassium iodide into the hydrogen peroxide/ soap mix
Thank you once again :)
no problem
Is there anything else i can use as cathalist? I dont have potassium iodine at home.
