That was good about priming the oil pump. I had to do it on the bobcat 751. I'm glad he mentioned it. I forgot all about it.

I think three new springs would have been a good idea. Cheap enough, and the heat and fatigue will make them weak with time. Looks great!

Good catch on the drive gear, I didn't notice that when you put it together. Did you put the shims back under the injection pump? Adding shims retards injection timing whereas removing shims advances injection timing. You can check injection timing however you will need to make a tool.
You would need an old or spare injector line, cut off about a half inch above the nut that bolts to the injection pump. The line would need to be cut on a slight angle, after the fuel system is primed. You would turn the engine by hand in direction of rotation, as the #1 cyl comes up to T.D.C. on the compression stroke the fuel will just start to come out of the line. Because the line would be full of fuel anything that comes in one end will be going out the other as soon as crack pressure is reached.
So what you are looking for is the fuel to move, any movement indicates the injection cycle has started. By checking the timing marks it will tell you what the injection timing is. The timing marks should be on the flywheel, the pointer could be on either the block or the bell housing.
As long as you didn't lose any shims you should be good, the smoke will tell the tail.

I have all the shims. I put them back where they were. Thanks again for looking out! I appreciate as much feedback as I can get. Cheers
