    I'm really enjoying this rebuild. Great job! And yes, it's better test it outside from the machine so you can take a better look at leaks and stuff like that.

    You know if you have to switch to centimeters to measure your lash you’re in trouble!

    A very thorough job your doing. Do you put any thread sealer on the rockers or do you leave it alone? I never use it, but have heard some put it on the threads.

      The only time so far that I've used thread lock is on the 2 head studs. I was told not to use it on anything else.

    Hey Fitz, have watched and enjoyed your vids of the Kubota V1702 Bobcat engine rebuild you did! What manual did you use, cause I can't find much to rebuild my 743B, V1702 injection pump? Thanks, Dan

    I did not watch all of the videos yet but i was wondering if you gaped the piston to the head with solder. When i built my kubota engine in my bobcat it said in the manual for me torque head down and go through the injectors with piece of solder and roll engine over then measure the crush on the solder just like plastigauge. Depending on that number i had to use the right head gasket or a gasket and shim. Also when i was building mine bobcat sad there was different main and rod bolts to use. Original ones were discontinued and there was new torque specs also. the new bolts are really different. If you want i can send pic of new bolts next to old i think i took a pic of it.

      Oh jeez! No, I didn't do the squish on the head. And I didn't get new bolts. Now you have me nervous. My bobcat dealer told me to use the same bolts and never said a word about the head to piston gap.

      I rebuilt a d950 it is the 3 cylinder version of yours. I had the hole bottom end together and broke a bolt in the last rod due to a bad torque wrench. I ordered 1 bolt to replace it and it was entirely different. That's when I bought a brand new service manual from bobcat. And all new bolts for bottom end. Unfortunately I also had to tear down the entire engine and start over. It should be fine but I am not a professional engine builder eather. This was my first diesel engine build.

      new bolts are a torque to yeald bolt I think that's what they are called. There a hours glass shape and get real small in middle. There is probably nothing wrong with the older version but I like everything perfect. I spent over 4500$ rebuilding my 3 cylinder.

    Hi again. Sorry to bother you. Quick question; isn't there tappets in top of the valve stems? I have just re built a v2003t. An it had.. That blue color looks nice !

    • @fitzsfixes
      @fitzsfixes  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, if you watch video 5, I go over installing them in the first few minutes of the vid

    • @joewinkler2168
      @joewinkler2168 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      there are valve stem caps that ride on top of the valves that the rocker arm rides on as to correct the geometry of the cam angles. yours don't have them? i just got a 753 / v2203-E with a bad valve noises and found they all were in place but one was gone. just asking as you didn't install any?

    Hey brother on the back of the head if your look at the front of the motor it’s on the back left side what is that metal piece you have sticking up it looks like a tube of some kind. I bought my machine without a head and can’t figure out what screws in there it looks to be the same size as the freeze plug. Thanks

      At 6:25 of video 7 I say it's a water return. Not exactly sure, but I seem to recall hooking up a hose that goes to the radiator. Sorry, its been years since making these videos, and that machine is long gone

    The reason your valve gap was so big is because you dont have/forgot to put the caps on the valves

      Robert Wadsley, Fitz’s Fixes
      There is valve stem caps, they are mia in this video, not sure if that will give you issues down the road. The surface area of the stem cap is much larger than that of the valve stem. Seems essential idk lol. I reference your videos all the time thanks for posting them online

    Hey great stuff brother. I’m trying to figure out this dilemma . I’m working on a Kubota v2203 Diesel engine. I resurfaced head and reinstalled rocker arm bracket. Didn’t even bother adjusting. I am able to spin flywheel 180 degrees counter clockwise and it stops then 180degress clockwise and it stops. I took off intake to see valve movements and only 1 valve moves. (Closest to flywheel) do you think out of adjustment rocker arms will cause the other valves to not move even when rotating flywheel?

    • @marknegrete9353
      @marknegrete9353 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fitzsfixes hey thanks for the reply. It turned out to be the wrong head gasket. Cylinder holes were slightly smaller on gasket and piston would hit.

      Do you know the difference between the 2? I have a Kubota KH-045 excavator, and my motor looks very similar to yours, Maybe the 1902 is bigger displacement

    • @fitzsfixes
      @fitzsfixes  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the only difference is the v1902 has direct injection. Other then that, I think they're the same
