@@Mayeur000Donz It ran for 3 seasons originally on NBC to good ratings but dropped off in S3 so no it didn't quite hit the heights of "Jeopardy" at the time.
In 2020 it got a reboot on NBC/Peacock hosted by Jane Lynch & still on today. It's currently in hiatus until May 20th 2024 when it will begin a new run with a celebrity special with the stars of "Days Of Our Lives"
Talking of "Jeopardy" coincidentally it came back again to Britain!! 🤯 Hosted by Stephen Fry it had a run in early 2024 (much to my shock) on ITV but I don't think it cut through to the British public so I wouldn't bank on it returning here

The featured game shows were all big at the time this aired in 2005: Big Brother (which was on Channel 4, not the BBC, hence the 'You are live on Channel 44000' line by the show's actual presenter Davina McCall, along with its iconography and theme tune), The Weakest Link (presented and voiced by Anne Robinson, hence the Anne-droid) and What Not to Wear, presented by Trinny and Susannah.

This episode is bonkers. "What is happening?!" is an entirely valid response.
The three shows were based on reality shows on in the UK and other countries in the 2000s. The Doctor is in Big Brother, where a bunch of people lived in a house and one got voted out each week. It was huge at the time. Rose is in The Weakest Link, which worked exactly as shown and was hosted by Anne Robinson, hence the Anne-droid. Jack is in What Not to Wear, which was a makeover show where people got fashion advice, a new wardrobe and new hair and makeup but no scary plastic surgery. The fashion advice was actually good, but could be a bit blunt at times. They also mention Ground Force which was a garden makeover show.
Fun fact: The droid hosts of the shows were played by the hosts of the real-life shows and are named after them.

    DOCTOR: No.
    DALEK: Explain yourself.
    DOCTOR: I said no.
DALEK: What is the meaning of this negative?
    DOCTOR: It means no.
DALEK: But she will be destroyed.
    DOCTOR: No!
DOCTOR: Because this is what I'm going to do. I'm going to rescue her.
DOCTOR: I'm going to save Rose Tyler from the middle of the Dalek fleet
DOCTOR: And then I'm going to save the Earth, and then, just to finish off, I'm going to wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky!
DALEK: But you have no weapons, no defences, no plan.
DOCTOR: Yeah. And doesn't that scare you to death. Rose?
    ROSE: Yes, Doctor?
DOCTOR: I'm coming to get you.
I love that scene, one my favourite 9th Doctor moments. You can see how serious he gets when the Dalek's are involved and one of his friends is in danger.
I also love that despite there being half a million Dalek's, he's on his way to save Rose. Their friendship has grown so much. Can't wait for you to react to the next episode.

See you picked up on the word ‘Torchwood.’ Russell T. Davies has wording in each of his seasons that you have to listen out for or look out for visually, which generally leads up to the epic finale. So Torchwood might or might not be the key word in season 2 (you’ll just have to keep watching to find out!)

The scene was shot, but the BBC's editorial policy department stepped in and vetoed it, the only time they over-ruled the production team during the 2005 series it also wasn't considered appropriate for a family viewing.

Fun ways to put a deadly spin on all these British game shows. Countdown and Weakest Link are great. Countdown whether the IT Crowd episode version or the real show.
I don't know enough about the clothing one but is a funny Jack moment, don't know anything about the British or any version of Big Brother but always heard about it.
There is a Doctor Who or some other Weakest Link special episode too I remember seeing at some point I forget the guests but seen it on TH-cam it's pretty good.
The bad wolf mentions. The beam being death hmm. Nope teleportation.
I don't usually care for these two episodes but they are a very particular angle to take the show and I go yeah they are pretty good.
I don't care for Daleks but the ways they take to introduce them are usually pretty good.

This finale is still pretty much my favourite in almost twenty years of modern Who. I think this episode is actually under-rated, the script is constructed so well.
When we see Rose on the Dalek ship for the first time, even before we get that POV shot and the background noise of the Daleks moving, there was a clue for hardcore fans of the classic version of Who: there's a sort of repeating "wob" noise in the background, usually described as being like a heartbeat. That same sound effect was used for the interior of Dalek spaceships all the way back in the 1960s!
