The muffler part #12589 the inlet and outlet are quite a bit bigger than the factory pipe on the vehicle, so had to do a little fill welding to close up the difference.

Was the measurement 7 3/4 from the hanger at the bottom or top?

I think the bottom, I honestly don’t remember, sold that vehicle years ago, it will tell you in the instructions if you buy that kit.
