      That is a shitwater feedlot runoff canal, built by the ACE. Notice that its dead straight for as far as you can see either direction, and the feces and fertilizer filled sludge water is moving pretty well in it. Not a bayou. Not even close.       Joe Blazer these are bayous. They have been dredged and cemented for flood prevention. Houston is the bayou city. They are working to return them to their natural state and beautify them but whether you agree or not they are bayous.

      Well, when you have a 3lb bass with 8 lb test, you can't tighten it too much or fish will pop the line.

    I use 6 pound test to catch most fish. Friend just caught a 35 lb catfish off 6lb mono and an ultralite rod

    You see those slopes on the side that keeps it from overflowing because it could be raining like 2 miles away from there and those storm drain pipes could be flowing a lot

    U can use a cast net a couple bridges back from where you were to catch shad for catfish bait

    up here we use those small crappy rigs to nail smallmouth and walleye. the ones you were using mimic our crawdads and that's exactly how we fish them.

      I fish in between Sugar Island and Neebish Island in the St.Mary River. Smallmouth hammer white, and green pumpkin tubes. 5Lb2oz is my biggest. Upper peninsula MI.

    Tighten your drag! Reeling in while the drag is going off will intensely twist the line as it's spooled.

    I use 8 lb . And have landed 68.8lb fish. 6to 10 lbrs all days.. ur drag sounds real low.. but maybe you do for the effects. . Nice fish
