I agree with trying it on your own. This gives you such an amazing satisfaction. Everyone is different but I planned only 3 things before starting my Camino: 1) 8kg backpack containing my needs 2) A plane ticket and 3) A map.
I travelled in the middle of September. Sometimes I stayed in the Albergue but honestly preferred to stay in a cheap little pension. I prefer the privacy and not having to worry about anybody else. Sure, you miss some of the people but you meet plenty of people on the trail. I carried the 8kg all of the way, no postal service required, and the map got me lost on many occasions. But that was just part of the adventure. Thanks for the advice. Keep walking, keep up the great work. Hope to cross you on the way one day.

Although i can not walk well enough to do this now, i would like to have but now i enjoy it vicariously through your videos. One of my favourite movies is "the Way", produced by Emilio Estevez (not his brother Charlie Sheen.) MARTIN SHEEN plays the father in the movie, who is struggling with the loss of his son (played by Martin's real son Emilio.) He does it very touchingly. In struggling with his grief and loss, he decides (although mostly unprepared and uninformed,) to take on the challenging journey of the Camino on behalf of his late son, inadvertently, taking his grief out on fellow walkers, who all have their own reasons and issues. A heart-wrenching story with fabulous views and interesting information. There are many amazing walking tracks in New Zealand, but I have missed out on them too. I hope your readers/watchers get out there and have these amazing experiences while they still can, and most of all be well-informed and prepared from watching these videos. Thank you so much for including the part in one of your videos about taking care of the feet. SO IMPORTANT!! Bless all!

Lyn! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts. The Way is deffinately the movie worth to watch, and for many, the first meeting with Camino. Thanks a lot Howard! Most of the places have a card payment access(bars or albergues), but there is always few in small villages where they prefere not to use it or simply there is no internet connection there. Every bigger village has a cash machine and you can use some Camino apps to see which are the facilities in every place you go! I have been toying with doing my own pilgrimage but have so many questions. This will not be my first long distance trip. I did 200 miles up the Cumbrian Coast and across Hadrian's wall last year.
My first and biggest question is, I'll be doing it by off road wheelchair. From the snippets in your video everything (except maybe the beach) I could manage, though the forest would greatly slow me down. How much would you say is well compacted earth/ surfaced and how much is rougher ground?
Is one route or another better for easy surfaces? I've got about 2 weeks available with me covering 15 to 20 miles a day (my average speed is generally under 4 miles an hour, though I don't know how much the heat will slow me down)
Is it possible to camp along the camino?
Many thanks, I'm just starting to investigate this so will go and watch lots of other videos and read more

Thank you so much for info as I'm planning to go next April 2023.
I plan to go the whole way which I believe can take up to 3 months.
I'm starting to take lots of walks in my area so as to be a bit more physically fit for next year.
Not sure if I'll be mentally fit 🤯by the time it comes around as this is going to be a first on my own traveling but best being prepared anyway which your video is showing.
However I'm not taking any vaccine for anyone....so will this affect the whole process ?!
Also it would be nice meeting up and sharing the walk with other single women especially at the beginning until confidence grows but how do you find them ?
I am more Spiritual than Religious and have had this calling for a while now so next year it is happening.
Blessings to you and Thank you. 🙏❤🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

In the beginning of April, on the Camino Frances, I met Mary from Ireland, 63, walking alone... and having the greatest time of her life. It might seemed a lot to travel on your own, but everyone does it here, so you are surrounded by folks who are in the same position as you- it helps, it unites! open your wings and fly high :)

Didn't realise I'd commented so much..sorry...hence another need for Peace and Stillness of Mind...anyway thanks for replying to all....that's a big upkeep mentally for you ....try not to feel the need to as you have many subscribers and tons of comments...it I'm sure will create 🤯 your head !!
Anyway it's good to know that an Irish sister of 65 is going it alone...she it seems has a strong mentality.
I'm 59 going on 5....mentality of a child...walking on my own 😰...eyes wide shut 🤕oops tripped again..getting lost in the dark...aaahhh what was that? 😳 aaahhh... am i being followed 😱.
Not good for directions even in daylight ...where the heck am I? 🤔
I need to toughen up 👠.out...👟in.
I talk a lot and write a lot....mostly of nothing.. I'm told... but I say I'm expressive....so I'll change tact...I'll drop the expressive 🤐 and become impressive💪...I'll challenge myself in time for the big '60' next year...although I'll really only be 6. 🤗
      Best wishes Ricky ! 🙏 + a hug !

We plan to travel one of the Camino trails in 2023. Is March or April a good time of year to travel. We are from USA. We are currently working to build our hiking skills prior to traveling over seas.

Hi Debbie! Sorry for the late answer but I was walking the Salt Satyagraha in India and just finished. the season for camino starts in April- all mayor Albergues/hostels open at this time… the weather is already nice, could rain a bit but it’s nothing close to the unbearable august summer. Frequent walking anywhere would be enough for building the muscle resistance and getting them used to prolong efforts. During my preparation we were going for a long weekends, where we would continuously walk for 3 days(each day 20k) and sleeping along the track, so we could see how the body reacts to this long effort. Any questions , please, let me know, hugsssss

Hello, thank you for this great video. My question is do we need to have the vaccine to do the Caminho? Or just a PCR negative test enough?

Thanks a lot! I've been walking the French way for last 9 days and I' ve been asked for the vaccine certificate only once. On the 20th the Spanish goverment cancels the mandatory mask usage... this are the current facts of the Camino. If anything changes, I ll be updating immediately:) hugs

Thank you so much! I’m doing the Portuguese Caminho Lisbon to Santiago June 1st. I want to make sure everything runs smooth. I will be taking with me plenty of rapid tests just in case. I did the French Way in 2017 and it was unforgettable. I have the Camino in my blood now. I came across your videos a few days ago and wish I had seen them a long time ago. You are funny, witty and so, so informative. Thank you so much! I have subscribed and I don’t ever do that.
God bless you and Bon Camino!!!

Hope that your journey will run smooth and you will stay heathy :) so far the vaccine requirements are seldom, especially as from few days we dont have to wear masks. I'm not sure about Portugal... hugs for you and see you on the Camino, buen Camino
