Absolutely wonderful cover of one of the greatest pop songs of all time. I can totally understand why Robert Smith loved this so much that it has actually altered the way The Cure has played it live ever since. It just has that personal touch that J Mascis has always been so good at delivering when it comes to covers, with heaps of passionate playing. This is the way a cover *SHOULD* be done.

This was the first record I bought by Dinosaur Jr, back in 1989. After seeing the video for "Little Fury Things" on 120 Minutes, I ran out to the record store and picked up this 7" which was their current record, and never looked back. In short order I got "Bug" and then "You're Living All Over Me", "Dinosaur" and the 12" with "Show Me The Way". I guess I was a few months late to see them live on tour for "Bug", then around that fall I heard they broke up. DOH! The disappointment! Imagine my surprise when a few months later I saw this new 7" with "the wagon" and "better than gone" and 2 drummers! SO SO GOOD..... But just imagine if the chorus kicked in full for a 2nd time and then J just goes off on one of his epic solos for another 2 or 3 minutes....... YIKES!!!
late to this cover, and to the band (all I knew about this band was their high reputation from critics, articles, interviews, and "I Feel the Pain" from 90s childhood). very intrigued on first two listens, totally loving it since then. time to download the rest of their stuff and be a late fan (it was my fate to become one eventually, surprised that I delayed the inevitability by decades)

I recorded this on a cassette listening to a college deejay's show on WQFS in Greensboro NC in like 1989 (along with Violent Femmes, Sex Police, old REM, and more). I wore the tape to shreds listening to it over a decade and then forgot about it. I always assumed the track got cut off by the DJ or me instead of it actually being how their cover ends.
