i literally grew up on CoB, they were one of the pillars that built what music is for me. it's so great that so many years later people can still discover them and hear the genius they had
They are maybe not timeless but damn will they last long! As long as people keep listening and spreading their music to the people! I heard them the first time with their first album at 97, i was 8! :D
Personally I always loved Alexis vocals. I hate the typical Cookie Monster vocals that most metal bands have. Alexi had more of a growl at first, and then he started incorporating more of his actual voice.
Finnish Thrash pioneers. Guitarist from the band, Roope Latvala, joined Children of Bodom. Also illustrated the Stone's album cover, from which this song is. Children of Bodom covered the song: "Stone - No Commands" and "Children of Bodom - No Commands". Couple of other Finnish bands: "Impaled Nazarene - Armageddon Death Squad ", "Reverend Bizarre - Doom Over the World", "Demilich - When the Sun Drank the Weight of Water", "Ensiferum - Little Dreamer" and "Wintersun - Loneliness".
i remember when slash visit 97-98? met alex on Jyrki (music program) told her don't do "stuff" and he would be one best guitar player on hes genre as he was
Fucken awesome band, but definitely an acquired taste. They are “melodic death metal” - they’ve got a death-ish vocal style, but their music is a little more melodic and the use of synths helps brighten their sound. The vocals might be a little too much, especially for someone just getting into metal. I’d suggest a band like Machine Head before CoB, but if you want more CoB I would go with the following songs: Every Time I Die Downfall Warheart Bed of Razors Lake Bodom Living Deadbeat If you’re interested in Machine Head, try the following: Imperium Old I Am Hell (Sonata in C#) Aesthetics of Hate Davidian Game Over Blood of the Zodiac Clenching the Fists of Dissent

He wasn't stand out in any way really, but his voice fit perfectly with their style and it just felt "him".

Please do more Bodom! Older stuff, either off Hatebreeder or Follow The Reaper

@@ReactionGenX no worries mate. Plenty more where that came from.
If you can, try to listen to the actual song. This version is edited and the intro and solo are both edited and don’t sound nearly as good.
