- An ink drawing and painting. I used a sketchbook, waterproof ink and watercolor. Lets draw this together in only 20 Minutes. Video in real time.
The drawing I did plein air and in a sketchy and loose stile.

Love that style, so much more interesting than photorealism. Still trying to train my brain to reject the urge to copy and obsess…
Thank you very much! I am planning a tutorial about how to draw a scene more sketchy and loose 🖋️💯👍
Love this one, Martin. I first started using stick pens and fountain pens to draw when I was about 13 years old (about 60 years ago -yikes!). I have always loved this medium, as well as watercolor, and really love your loose, artful portrayals of these old buildings. I'd love to see more of these types of sketches.
Thank you very much for your helpful and motivating feedback! I will keep it up! Best wishes from austria 🖋️👍
You do a broken and squiggly line and it is artful. When I do a broken and squiggly line it looks like an error! Love this piece of art! Thanks.
That’s great to hear, thank you so much and keep it up! It’s all about practicing with joy! 🖋️
It's amazing how the watercolor looks so good in that not-a-watercolor-sketchbook. The result is even better than my cheap watercolor sketchbook 😅 I have a similar sketchbook like this though it is 100gsm, maybe I'll try watercolor on it next time.
thank you for your feedback! Indeed I like to try different papers for watercolour to see how they react! 👍🖋️
Sometimes the rainwater guttering is called SPOUTING. Brilliant en plein air sketch. Your simplification is wonderful. Thanks Martin
THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO MR. LACHMAIR BECAUSE YOU MADE THIS U.S. MARINE WANT TO TRY OUT THE INK WITH WATER COLOR METHOD
Hi, great to read such a fantastic feedback! Thanks for that, keep it up 💯🖋️👍
Thanks very much, Martin!! Your video's are very help full to me. I recently start sketching in your style and it gives me very much satisfaction. I have been suffering from Postcovid complaints for over a year, but since I started drawing it has given me a lot of peace of mind. I enjoy your video's and posts on Instagram. I regularly watch your videos and learn from them again and again. Greetings from Anton | The Netherlands.
First of all let me wish you a speedy recovery and all the best for you! It’s great and motivating for me to read that my little tutorials are helpful in different ways! Thank you so much for your support! Greetings from lower austria! 🖋️👍💯
Thnx, Martin!!
I’ve learnt that I don’t have enough darks in my sketches. ❤
Many thanks for sharing Martin . It's a Beautiful Ink Drawing. Cheers from AUSTRAILA 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Thanks a lot! Best wishes from austria! 👍🖋️
Eavestrough. A trough (pronounced TROFF) that lies below the eaves. Love the drawing. My brush pen ink isn’t 100% waterproof but the diffusion of ink adds to the effect. These are great exercises to do when time is limited and we all need practice. (I do, anyway!)
Cheers from the US! Those rain catchers we call gutters here :) Have a great Easter!!
❤❤❤ Hugs from Brazil! Love your content!
Brilliant sketch thank you!
Love to learn with your skills. 🙏
Very inspiring (again…), thank you!
Martin, another fantastic video and demo of your style and talent. So so thankful for your time and generosity in preparing these for us to enjoy.
Nice piece of work here Martin. The choice for colors and shades make it a nice painting to watch.
Fantastic artwork.
At the beginning - you show
Your first sketch *made from imagination* is brilliant.
&
Your main sketch of the shed is excellent.
Keep sharing.
Happy (post) Easter 2024 everyone
Thank you so much for your kind words 👍🖋️
Excellent presentation yet again - thank you Martin, thoroughly enjoyable.
Awesome video! I love how your tutorials seems approachable enough to make me fully confident enough while your skill comes through enough to show me where I still need practice
What a great and helpful feedback! Thank you so much for your analysis, really helpful for upcoming tutorials 🖋️👍
Wonderful!
Fabulous!
Rainwater goods/gutters/guttering... love the looseness of the work... I definitely need to loosen up with my work. Thank you!
Thank you so much for your help and feedback 🖋️👍
Me gusta mucho la sintesis . quedó genial Martin.
Enjoyable as always Martin:-)
Awsome!!! Thanks for video!!!! Your style is so cool💛💙
Thanks a lot! 💯🖋️👍
Thank you from South Africa... 🇿🇦 The deep shadows give a feeling of mystery to your work...
Great! Going out in the next couple weeks to give plein air a try. Only have done it once last fall. The name of the rain catcher on the building is called eavestrough.
Thanks again. Love the video.
Thanks a lot! As well for the english translation of “Regenrinne” (deutsch 😅)
wow !!
Really Great!,
Thanks a lot! 🖋️👍
A 'gutter' for water run-off .😊 Greetings from Mariposa , California !
Great! Thank you, best wishes from austria! 👍
Absolutely helpful video. And what a beautiful artwork. Thank You very much.
Thats fantastic to hear! Thank you so much 💯🖋️👍
Thank you Martin. Am going to have a go at this. Also a great tip about the sketchbook. I waste so much expensive watercolour paper and always worry about using less thick /heavy paper but these types of sketches use little water so i guess they are fine!
That’s all we do in the beginning: to be too much focused on specific tools, of course it’s an important part of it but most important is to practice and have fun with it! 👍🖋️
Thank you Martin for the videos. Your art is absolutely amazing.
Can you please make a full video from start to finish with a reference photo frozen in one of the corner for full video. That will allow real time comparison and your thought process.
Thank you very much! Good idea, I will do so with the next one! 🖋️👍💯
@@MartinLachmairArt Also, more of the full video in real time, start to finish of sketching and colouring like "Let's draw together" will be very helpful. Thank you in advance
God, you are a magician!
Thank you so much! But it’s just practicing a lot! 🖋️👍
Absolutely brilliant. Thank you.
Thank you for your kind feedback 🖋️👍💯
Wonderful! It seems easier than it really is.😍
Thank a lot! Well it’s just daily practicing over years 💯🖋️👍
Very beautiful
Love this. Thank you very much.
Thank you so much for your kind feedback 🖋️👍
congratulations on your art.
Thank you for sharing your Beautiful Artwork. New subscribers from the Caribbean 🙏
Great! Thank you so much for your support and feedback! 💯👍
Very helpful, thank you
Thank you so much. I really enjoyed this video.
Thank you for your friendly words 🖋️👍
Great video Martin!
In New Zealand we call the rain catchment channels 'guttering'.🙂
Fantastic result
Thank you so much 👍🖋️
Love your sketches
Thank you very much 🖋️👍💯
Lovely as always, Martin! We call it a gutter.
Thank you so much! Ahhh … a gutter! So I have to paint something like that again so I can use my new word 😅👍🖋️
@@MartinLachmairArt Happy to help and look forward to the next one! I've purchased that same sketchbook as it gave me less fear of using "good" paper and not making something great. My trees have gotten much better since finding your channel. 😆 You're a great inspiration, truly appreciate you sharing your talent.
I love your style 🙏🎨🇿🇦
Thank you so much 👍🖋️
So friendly tutorial video, I like it, very interesting 👌
Thank you for your nice feedback 💯🖋️👍
I really like your style…thanks for posting the things you do. I have one question: how does that lightweight paper not buckle and pool the paint when you add watercolor? Vielen dank!
Thanks a lot! Indeed I get this question quite a lot! To be honest I don’t know. It’s only 125gr. it buckles but not that much you would expect it!
Merci, comme toujours c'est très intéressant bonne journée
Eaves, trough, or sometimes rain gutter or downspout 👍
Great, thanks for your helpful feedback 💯🖋️👍
Ease trough is what we call the trough where the water comes off the roof
+1 👍🤝
Thanks Martin good video. What kind of pen would you you recommend?
I love your style! Very good video :)
Are you sightseeing Poland? :D
Thank you! Married with a polish wife since 20 years. So we are visiting poland 2-3 times a year 💯🖋️👍
Very interesting! But why doesn't wet watercolor wash away the ink strokes?
Thank you! I use waterproof ink, in this case it’s „sketch ink” by rohrer und klingner. Or you can use „carbon ink” by platinum.
@@MartinLachmairArtI've heard that waterproof ink ruins fountain pens. Or is it some special ink?
@@AndreyShlyahovThe carbon Platinum is for fountain pens. It will not clog your pen unless you let it sit without use for a few weeks, some say a month at most. If you're not going to use it for a few weeks I would recommend emptying the pen and cleaning it for storage.
Get the F out of here 20 minutes? I love it! ❤
Just what I was looking for. I've had some formal training many, many years ago (abstract acrylic) but wanting to go back to pen and Ink with washes. I appreciate your low key presentation, your skill of course, finally it is your style that made me like and subscribe. Thank you for sharing with us. Priceless really.
That’s fantastic to read! Thank you so much and keep it up 🖋️👍💯
Are you using the Pelikan Classic 205 820684 Fountain Pen Black Nib EF Extra Fine here?
Hi, absolutely right: a pelikan classic 205 with an EF nib! 🖋️👍
Guttering is word you are looking for.
Great! Thank you!
❤️💚💙🌹
Usually I do this overwork, but your video helps me to stop with this terrible thing
It’s called a ‘gutter’ martin
Rain water gutter, by the way.
Videos like dis don't show mixing colar or what too use so i don't no 😢
You are right, thank you for your feedback, I will keep that on my to does for the next video tutorials 🖋️👍
Eavestrough
I like your style, the way you show how you paint but looking at your painting at an angle for the duration of the video was really annoying.
Thank you! That should be better done in upcoming tutorials! 🖋️👍🎬
.............thank you,...........your widows were off by a mile .....in your case a few kelometers........overall........kind of sloppy work..alot like the rest of your stuff..........perhap next time you might want to adress color..a bit more. ...seriously,..accuretly...? clean up your work...ad youll be alot more happy with it.........but....... after alls said..... and done,.......i did learn somthing from your video................................Danke schoen........
Thank you for your friendly feedback 🖋️👍
Can you do a video about tips and tricks that you're using with low-quality paper , please 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank you for your suggestion, maybe I am able to do one, I will try it 👍🖋️
@@MartinLachmairArt thanks a lot! It will be very helpful🙏
Io non capisco perché debba fare le linee spezzate. A cosa servono?
