Invoker unbound avatar makes scaling elemental on acolyte of the chayula impossible. Any elemental based monk is better on invoker, you go crit you ignore res no need for pen and a 40% more damage button through unbound avatar for 9+ seconds. Mantra of Destruction needs buffs, into the breach neeeds buffs, Darkness is literally just situational flat life at the cost of not gaining access to spirit. That being said yes my next character is going to be another monk using acolyte of chayula, I am a glutton for punishment.
Maybe try that Instant Mana Leech node first. I've seen ppl claiming it's bugged currently and doesn't work. I can relate to your situation cause I took Acolyte as well and compared to, from what I've seen, Invoker can do the difference is massive. Wish there would be a way for ele dmg to leech mana. Maybe that would make instant leech+overleech as es combo more viable.
It's kind of obvious that Invoker is supposed to be for elemental monks. It would be nice if acolyte monks could become chaos monks and basically be a chaos melee. However, we only have access to **two** chaos spells with the quarterstaff with one being Hand of Chayula (just debuffs) & Mantra of Destruction (which is literally just usable one time after a 10 combo and the damage you get from it is not even compensating the casting time and extra damage). I hope that the next two spells that are labeled "Coming soon" in the quarterstaff section are chaos spells because otherwise this ascendency is literally useless compared to Invoker. For now if you want to play chaos monk (& want to play with mainly chaos spells), you are forced to play with the wand since it has many chaos spells but why not play witch then? However, if you want to play melee, you are basically forced to go freeze/lightning and at that point you should just choose Invoker. This ascendency is underdeveloped in my opinion.
@@wojter322ify Even with the instant leech node, we still need to find good sources for leech. Leech needs to be phys dmg so the best source atm is the bell, but will that be enought to maintiain mana/es on higher levels of gameplay?
I dont really understand why purp flame stacks are individually timed. It seems incredibly obvious that it is a bad idea amd I'm surprised it made it through testing. If they stacked and got a timer reset when you got a new one, it would at least make it feasible to get max stacks. If that ends up being too strong, nerf the damage. Breach and Darkness seem like the entire point of the class, and breach sucks as is and darkness is, imo, too restricted by move speeds. Maybe in the future gear will have tons of move speed so we can use it better, but right now it's not realistic
One tip I can give for gold is to go to Act 1 Cruel, clearfell and farm the Witch, selling anything magic/rare/unique(you dont want) salvage any socket(if you need), doesn't take too long to yield 100ks of gold... Kill witch, portal, crtl+click on clearfell, repeat, sale when full... The witch ALWAYS spawns next to the waypoint, It's always slightly north of the waypoint... I am sure GGG will nerf this, but as of yesterday still works fine. that should solve any gold problems for now to experiment further... I agree into the breach feels underwhelming, and it is annoying to chase flames on a class thats ALL about building combos and needing to stay in combat, as current a caster monk with into the breach might be super strong... I have been having mana issues and really only need it if I come across "Saps flasks charges" modifiers on rares, really the only time I go out of my way, Reality Rending is super strong... The Darkness line is very appealing but with that you lose auras and I have not come up with a build personally to go that route, my Chayula monk rn is following your skill combos but using Reality Rending, Chayula's gift and into the breach, I ignore Lucid dreaming as the double seems good but really isn't that fantastic as is(IMO), I think into the breach needs a balance pass in general, your idea of flames slowly moving towards you is great idea. I am considering just giving Embrace the Darkness a go but will need to figure out how to go about not having auras, time to theory craft I guess. I know Invoker monk is much stronger at current, but Chayula is super appealing to me.
I did the same thing with a respawn at checkpoint strat in act 3 cruel. I view darkness as situational flat life. The only type of build I think it might be good on is a MoM build but I don't even know how it would interact and if you go MoM you're probably archmage spellcaster... so idk. I assume acolyte of chayula must have been busted on another weapon type so that is why it's in its current state. My guess is dagger or caster acolyte was too op
I thought the damage flames would work like power charges and reset timer as well as add a charge but I’ve never gotten more than 4 without the duration. Switching to invoker
Mind if I ask for some more context with this mana & freezing concept? I’m only level 40 so it’s not too late for me to respec and not be gimped spamming essence drain & contagion mixed with hand of Chayula while kiting 💀
Nope, completely experimental just a thought process and honestly may not go mana focused at all after some additional testing with mana leech on elemental skills after unallocating the breach stuff so I could vacuum test mana leech of elemental skills that do not fully convert phys to elemental. Will most likely forego all of the leech stuff, I think the only plausible way to mana leech is to use physical attacks but they wouldn't scale the chaos damage potential as much as elemental skills do.
I'm currently going exactly in full evasion mode, attack speed everywhere and lot of dex, like those nodes that you want to explore. I like it way more then evasion and ES. Anyway speaking about the tech to get charge....i dont get from the videos if it's working for you the simple fact that you put those gems on the herald of thunder. Is that enough to electrocute? Therefore gain charges reliably? I really dont want to go with freeze as well :P If possible...ty for your info and vid!

"Into the Breach" seems like a "got ya, idiot" talent to pick. The only reason I would ever put points that direction is for the attack speed. Off course the flames are not going to stack to max at all times and have a global timer, that would be insanity. 7% leech is nothing if you're not getting the flames spawning at .2 seconds (from quality) and even so, relying on that sustain for survivability would just be lazy gaming. You have a better shot at making something out of it by picking the mana leech nodes at the top and turning your attack into energy shield regeneration. That's a defensive and offensive node put together since the more you attack the more shield you could recharge, so going ape on attack would be your sustain.
