As a long-time professional video editor, it's been really fascinating watching TH-camrs develop their editing and videography skills in a completely different way than how I and many others had to. We learned brevity and flow through those endless corporate gigs where clients wanted to hit 30+ dot points in a three-minute video (sorry, I mean a DYNAMIC three-minute video...), and visual storytelling through being immersed day-in day-out in an environment of talented full-time storytellers across so many disciplines. It's always incredible to me to see the calibre of editing in something like Adam's essay pieces and realise that he's gotten to that level without any of that "paying your dues" background to lean on.
Slightly Nasty I guess he paid his dues, just not in the way you did. I’m sure there are a lot of hours learning this, maybe more trial and error, and I was going to say less public but I guess TH-cam has the potential to be very public. The moving tech helps. I remember my daughter showing me things she developed on iMovie that took me years to learn as a home editor with a penchant and passion for technology.
I loved this talk!! It's great to have musicians/video creators like yourself and Adam that are utilizing this platform to spread your passion for things you care about in music. It's also neat to just hear you two talk about the process of making videos and coming up with topics.

I am one of the many music producer's around today that had no musical education and have relied on the both of you to help fill in the blanks that help us write better music. I am keen to see what you both have planned for the coming year as the more time goes by and the more work I produce the more mixed my music becomes. Your video about Bach led me to watch the full documentary you recommended. Since, I have spent the most time listening to classical music since school. I’ve even purchased a couple box sets from the used bin at the local record store. Classical music listeners sure take better care of their vinyl than other genres, I have noticed.

You and Adam are always good value. I have learned more from TH-cam than I ever did from TV. Electronics, geology, lots of history, including music history and, of course, music theory. It's all there. I was lucky enough to be an insomniac during the last days of the Open University broadcasts in the UK, from which I also learned much from serious men with big hair in dreadful ties, but the curriculum wasn't mine to choose which is YT's great strength.

Adam introduced the world to Conlon Nancarrow. there was a cat who had an isolated, probably obsessive passion for creating. then Rick's Bach episode shows the impact on music centuries later. you guys do music world and culture a great service. Ü ♫
In showcasing different instrumentalists and their music it would be wonderful someday to hear an oboist (do any come to mind?). But I'm with you; it takes careful consideration whether to push loved ones in a direction until and unless they are sufficiently interested. Blessings in that fatherhood role, Rick.
I think it would be great not only to play contemporary classical music like Debussy, Ravel, Messiaen, Berio, Penderecki, Bartok, Stockhausen, Hindemith, Cage, Boulez, Ligeti, Schoenberg and his school, Stravinsky and Varese. But to show the lineage like where the music comes from (i.e. How the music of Debussy and Ravel influence Messiaen and in turn Takemitsu and Tristan Murail. Also it influenced early jazz players very much because of the chords used. Music History is very important. I was a contemporary music expert for awhile in school and after. I don't play it very much anymore sadly.

I love the idea of yours Rick to familiarize us with the parts of an orchestra AND Adams idea (well, not his idea really but he mentioned it...of analyzing a piece with the band/orchestra playing it. what are your thoughts on remixed versions of albums that came out before the 80s? My brother, amongst many others, have expressed their opinion that most of these remixed albums are garbage. He especially has voiced his disdain for the led zeppelin remixes.
