  • Footage and some commentary on my first ride at Capital Forest in Olympia, WA. Also the first time in the dirt for my CFmoto Cforce 1000 Overland.
    Things started off good, but unfortunately my day was cut short with an accident coming down the trail. Machine tipped over and pinned me, but all in all I was lucky. I go over that in detail in the video.
    Please comment and let me know what you think of the video. This is my first with using voice over and I still have a lot to learn about making decent videos. But don't beat me up too bad OK? 😉
    Thanks!
    Greg

    I also tipped mine over brother. Only had me, myself and I to help get it back up. Wow they are heavy. Took me a hour and alot of cussing and praying. 😂😂

    Damn I bought one last year and almost flipped it got me thinking about how and where I ride cause this machine could really kill you and most likely really hurt you if it lands on you sucks for me I bought it to replace my 750 brute force to ride the Hatfield McCoy trail and never got to make that trip cause I injured my shoulder and had to have surgery but I’m looking forward to start posting and riding again last and this year up till a few weeks go my time was spread thin recovery building a house took away from me riding great video can’t wait to see more I’m wondering how the long yerm reliability is gonna be my brute force was a 16 model and had no issue but tie rode replacement but the cforce is a Cadillac on the trails

      You're absolutely right! These suckers are big and heavy. I traded in a 2020 Kingquad 750 for mine and often wonder if that was the right move for the kind of trails I ride. But I had no problem on the trails, it was the freewheeling going downhill that got me in trouble. I also was in 2 high, so I made some mistakes. I'll know better next time. From everything I've researched, as long as you take care of the machine (regular maintenance) they hold up well. Have a speedy recovery!

      @@ontheroadwithgreg I miss my brute force but this overland is a Cadillac on the trails rides awesome I’m not beat up like when I rode my brute force I do miss the whipping and leaning around tight corners using body language to ride this Cforce is just different kind of trail machine I love mine but miss my brute force can’t wait to see what else you do to the machine I would love to do cat delete to open up the hell of heat that comes from the right side but I’m not sure if I’ll get round to doing it

    Good job. You’ll get better each time out. I’ve been in your shoes many times. I’ve had my share of tight spots and spills. Just get back in the saddle and keep going . My machine is pretty big. It’s an arctic cat Trv. The more you ride it the more comfortable you’ll feel. Here’s a tip for when you’re riding in an area that you not familiar with. Carry some surveyors ribbon. Hang it along the trail as you go.It’s so easy to get turned around. Just be sure to take it down on your way back. Great video. See you on your next adventure.

      Hey Dennis, thank you for the comment and tips. Definitely a learning experience and I'll do a better job next time out. Fixed up the slight damage to the quad and my back is finally healed for the most part. Looking forward to getting back out on the trails! 👍

    FYI, it may feel weird at first but if you blip the throttle it will engage the engine braking. I typically engage the brakes lightly, hit the throttle real quick, and then ease off the brakes. The engine braking is "decent" on these machines.

    • @ontheroadwithgreg
      @ontheroadwithgreg  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for the tip on braking. I've had several other riders recommed the same method and I appreciate it. I was also in 2 high which was a mistake. Should have been in 2 or 4 low. Anxious to get back out on the trail and practice this. Thanks again!

    I liked the video man. I am considering buying a 2024 cfmoto 1000 or maybe 800. Is there anything you don't like about the quad and thing you like?

    • @ontheroadwithgreg
      @ontheroadwithgreg  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Thanks for the comment! I would say just be aware of how the engine breaking works on these. They are big heavy machines and pick up steam fast going down hill. Also, the turning radius on them is pretty bad, but for most riders, it's not an issue. Other than that, for the money, they are an amazing value for what you get. There's also plenty of aftermarket parts for them. Keep in mind you have the newer Gen 3 machines coming out either later this year or early 2025. They are a complete redesign. What I plan on doing is keeping mine until the new Gen 3's have worked out the bugs and have some aftermarket support and trading my Gen 2 in at some point. Either way, you'll be happy 👍 You might also want to join some Facebook groups. There are some good one's for just the Overland 1000.

    Tipped mine over too, since then I added 1 inch wheel spacers, it is SO MUCH more stable, although it is a bit harder to steer.

    • @ontheroadwithgreg
      @ontheroadwithgreg  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I actually have the 1" spacers too and 2" lift. I think the next step would be to go with Stage 1 Elka's all the way around. They eliminate the lift kit due to being longer and giving more travel. Another Overland owner said the difference is amazing.

    • @becomeraptureready
      @becomeraptureready 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @ontheroadwithgreg see the lift kit is your problem, the 1" Spacers bring your width back to stock after the lift kit, so you need the 2" Spacers to widen the machine. If you didn't have the lift kit you'd be wider with your current Spacers.

    If you're constantly riding under 20 miles an hour low gear is the best. I get it it seems like it winds out a lot but it's better for the belt and It will keep your clutch so much cooler. The 1000 is a lot of bike. Not long ago a 500 was the biggest and the baddest.

    • @ontheroadwithgreg
      @ontheroadwithgreg  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Appreciate the tip Jay, thanks! I'm definitely still getting used to the machine. Gonna take it easy the next few trips until I get some more experience. I've had quads before, but that was a long time ago. This old dog is trying to learn some new tricks 😉

      That's a Kemimoto bag. I looked at a couple and really liked that one. It's also not so long that it hangs down and gets in the way of the brake pedal. Here's the link: amzn.to/45e1r4f

    Im not really interested in the 1000 but I am thinking about the 400 for some basic trail riding and work around the property. I would like to hear your opinion on the brand so far.

      Hey Matt, before I got my Overland 1000, I did a lot of research on CFmoto. They have definitely come a long way in a few years and almost all reviews are positive on the machines regardless of size. What I would suggest is joining some CFmoto Facebook groups and you can ask questions there and get feedback from actual owners of the 400. I'm very happy with the quality and performance of my 1000 so far. 👍

      I have a 2021 cforce 400. Bought it new in 2020. Here in Canada, they have the LX model, which has power steering signals, trailer wiring, aluminum rims and many other things. It has never broke down on me. I did have to replace the battery but that's it. It is a little under powered. I was really wishing I had got atleast the 500cc model.

    • @ontheroadwithgreg
      @ontheroadwithgreg  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@CF-BRADY Thanks for helping out with the 400 question. I know sometimes I think maybe the 1000 is too big. Anytime you go with a twin cylinder engine, the seat area is much wider. When you get older like me and don't have as much flexibility, you really notice the width of the bigger machines.

    • @ontheroadwithgreg
      @ontheroadwithgreg  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@CF-BRADY The 800 is the same size as the 1000. If you want to stay with a smaller skinnier machine, the 600 would be the way to go. One of my favorite channels I watch on TH-cam is a guy with a 625 (guess they name them differently in other countries?). Check him out if you get a chance. He's done some amazing trips and the smaller machine has never let him down. www.youtube.com/@atvoperator

    How do you compare it to your King Quad?

    • @ontheroadwithgreg
      @ontheroadwithgreg  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Charles, to be honest, I never got the King Quad out in the dirt. I had sold my side by side, so wanted something we could 2 up on, so decided on the big Overland 1000. The King was smaller and lighter, but not really set up to ride with a passenger.

    • @ontheroadwithgreg
      @ontheroadwithgreg  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey Charles, thought I would add another reply here since I didn't really give you much of an answer. Prior to getting the Overland 1000, I joined a Facebook group of owners. I asked that very question and many had moved up to the CFmoto from Kingquads and similar machines. Most were very happy with the switch. It's really a whole different machine. The longer wheelbase also helps with the ride. I can say it definitely rides smoother than the King did. One thing I did figure out though is that the King has almost the same power to weight ratio as the big Overland due to the King being 300 lbs lighter. So bigger is not always more powerful it would seem.
