Hey Dana, Dave here, Thanks for the kind words, It truly means a lot! We make these videos to be as helpful as possible for apparel decorators big and small- It always makes my day to see comments like yours. Happy Pressing!
Yay! We're so happy we could help out. Sizing designs properly is the first step in perfect prints. After that, is perfect placement (which we have a video for too!): th-cam.com/video/dwRFRT2iyFw/w-d-xo.html
You bet Jaye Hill! Our screen printed transfers are available in a jumbo size: 12.5" x 17.5" and our UltraColor Max DTF Transfers are available up to 22 x 22" for those large, full back prints.
There's a few out there that are up to 40 x 40", but you can do it with almost any heat press- we put together a video on how to do it here: th-cam.com/video/BI7pyn9HjL4/w-d-xo.html
Hi, Is that guide for HTV words without pictures? I have a different guide, and it goes by the size of the shirt. I made a shirt in my size and the words were too high up. Sigh.
We have a full placement video that covers adjusting the position of your graphics based on a few different criteria with the dimensions of the artwork and size of the garment in consideration: th-cam.com/video/dwRFRT2iyFw/w-d-xo.html
Me working this job. But sometimes the picture too bigger and T shirt 👕 bigger also and sometimes I print pictures sometimes come over the left side or over right side not balance in center. How to fix it ?
You can set your canvas to 4.5" wide by about 18" for a standard long sleeve print. However, the artwork is typically smaller than that maximum sizing, with prints around 2.5" x 11"
My question is how to save the file? Canva is saying RGB with 300 dpi for print but I was always told CMYK for print with 300 dpi to send to print. Is RGB ok now for printing?
RGB to CMYK converters are better than ever these days, but there will always be a color shift when you are converting color modes. We put together a video detailing the differences here: th-cam.com/video/SqYjsnidYVE/w-d-xo.html
@@transferexpress So in Canva, should I trust it will print the way I want it to or when I download it, save it as CMYK to make sure it's what I want? I haven't seen where I can do that in canva.
It depends on how specific your needs are on color. 90% of the time it prints as you intended it, just be mindful that very bright, vibrant colors will only look that way on screen and will look a little more dull when printed (although still saturated) with digital printing like Direct To Film.
How big would you make your letters when making a text for an XL shirt with say 5 lines? I don’t want the letters to be too big or to small. Thanks! And is Easy view free to use for sizing of letters?
Yup! you can size all of the letters in easy view online designer for free. The sizing of the letters really depends on the total size of the graphic you need- I would try some different letter heights by printing the text/graphics out on copy paper and placing them on the garment to see how big they look.
Hi, I have a doubt. If i need to print an vertical design what width should i choose. Currently i'm using width of 9.52 for small, 10.02 for Medium and 10.52 for Large. Is it correct. Or is it like for one design width should be same for all sizes. Then for small size the print will be very large compared to L or XL. Please reply.
If you sized your graphic to 10" wide, it would look great on smalls through XL. With a half of an inch difference in sizing, the majority of people who will buy/wear the shirt will have no idea the graphics are not all the same size. Adjusting the size of the graphic for each t-shirt is uncommon in the t-shirt printing industry- especially when you would essentially triple the setup for each job with this scenario. With transfers you would need 2, possibly even 3 different transfer sheets, which would not combine for the quantity break. screen printing you would need to burn 3 screens, or even with vinyl you're tripling the cutting setup. All that time spent erodes your profit margins.
@@transferexpress I dont have to think about printing cost. I'm using print on demand provider to fulfill my orders. They use DTG printing. But everytime i go through videos related to t-shirts this question comes to my mind. Whether i'm doing the correct thing or not. Does size of design changes with size of t-shirt or not. Could you please suggest me what should i do. Should i keep same size for designs for all sizes or countinue like the way i'm doing now. I'm new to this field.
Sorry Jessica, I typically accompany the "three fingers down" with a more definitive "1.5-3" down from the collar" for standard placement, however I missed it here, my apologies. For actual placement, we put together a full guide detailing some different techniques (other than fingers 😅) here: th-cam.com/video/dwRFRT2iyFw/w-d-xo.html
We do have a Placement Guide Here: www.transferexpress.com/design-sizes and on our Blog here: blog.transferexpress.com/finding-design-sizes-transfer-placement/
Veronica, Absolutely! You can combine your own art with our text, clipart or even any of our layouts! We see it all the time where our layouts get coupled with the real uploaded mascots for schools and sports teams.
It depends on the dimensions of the graphic, 1.5-3" down from the top of the collar should get you in the standard placement. We have an awesome video showing different methods for print placement here: th-cam.com/video/dwRFRT2iyFw/w-d-xo.html
@@transferexpress ok perfect thank you and also I did heat correctly that the standard size for adult shirts is 11 x 11? And does that still apply the same for fitted shirts? I’m use to doing Gildan unisex so fitted shirts is new for me, especially Bella shirts and the collars are different
Hello, I'm Rosa from Creations By Poppy and I'm just really beginning this business, but I'm just wondering if there is a minimum and maximum size for the larger adult t shirts like 3xl and above???
There is no minimum or maximum sizing for t-shirt size ranges. Typically, to reduce print costs you will use the same size graphic on all adult t-shirt sizes.
We'll use the same size as all the other sizes. We actually made a video showing the same graphic printing across sizes from XS-2XL and they all look great: th-cam.com/video/v6P2Xodtte4/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared
Typically when ordering custom transfers or custom printed apparel you would specify a specific size, typically width first. These techniques are to help you find the specific size for what you want your tshirts to look like.
Great question, It does depend on the resolution (DPI) of your artwork. We typically aim somewhere around 11" for a standard front print. Circles or Squares we'll size down to 9-10" At 300 DPI, a 3300 x 3300 pixel image is 11 x 11".
Hey T.H.M! You do not need a resellers, business license or tax ID to order gang sheets! While there is a spot on the registration form for tax ID, you dont need to enter one.
Our UltraColor Max is our only true Direct To Film Option but we have other digital transfers in our UltraColor Line. While Max is the thinnest/lightest, our UltraColor Soft (Hybrid digital / screen print transfer) has a soft-touch matte finish that might be what you're looking for. You can request free samples of all of them to test for yourself before purchasing: www.transferexpress.com/marketing-tools/free-samples
Hey learn, I'm not sure exactly what you're asking? 11" wide is pretty standard for just a name across the front of a t-shirt, but like we discuss in the video here, it varies based on your artwork dimensions and the look you're going for. Try using the paper tip we cover in this video and hold it up to yourself in the mirror, that should help you get spot-on image sizing
literally just getting into this as of 2 days ago. learning and soaking in the knowledge. SO yo suggest 10-11" for most adult tshirts maybe size XL-XXXXL I bought a cricut machine but i see it only allows me to go 9.5 inches. so will have to do some research in how to print bigger...thanks for thee videos
We're always happy to help! We're dedicated to helping you and your t-shirt business succeed! So, 9.5" can work for some graphics depending on the shape and look you're going for but can look REAL small on a 2XL and up. 11" seems to be the industry standard for those large, full front/chest graphics.

What size design would you recommend if it is a circle shape design? An 11 inch circle seems too large. Is there a industry standard size? Thank you.
You’re absolutely right, 11” for square and circles appear very large. I typically size circle designs to 9 or 9.5” for a center chest graphic.
