Always remember John Peel stating on this session: 'it sounds like Hole might be moving in more of a pop direction. Which is a shame because there's lots of bands doing pop and only one band doing 'Hole'. John Peel RIP..

It sounds like the band was already evolving past the POTI sound with Violet and Doll Parts in a rougher..yet more melodic form compared to POTI (which was an awesome album).
Does explain why Patty's drumming differed when Violet and Doll parts was recorded for LTT..since the drum parts were written mostly by Carolyn Rue (original drummer).

This band never did anything for me - far too derivative for my taste. Which is a shame because it seems like everything is there, but the execution just falls flat every time I give them a chance.

@maxcohen13 I can't tell if you're saying that it's okay that they are disagreeing with you or you're calling them elitist, when it doesn't seem like that comment meant that.
I mean, I definitely would not call them any more "derivative" than any other band or artist to ever exist, because that's how art works. Hole sounds like Hole. Just like Led Zeppelin stole a ridiculous amount of songs to the point of plagiarism, but still sound like themselves and themselves alone.
Hole is a smaller offender lol. They aren't direct plagiarists.
