Friend of mine sold off his PC to put a down payment on a home back in 2012. At the time the value of the PC was around 30-40K. Fast forward to today the collection would probably be over 75k. Can't look back at the past got to do what you have to do. On the plus side, with his investment into his home, the home value had appreciated exponentially since then

I think people are struggling with the term “loss“. It’s not even an unrealized loss as you have to determine what you did with the money since then and the present day value.. If you put it into other investments, items that appreciated, or into terrific experience, then there is present day value, and all that has to be reconciled with the value in 2006. I understand what you’re comparing and think of it as just the difference in which you could have sold it for now versus then.

In 1985-86, I bought an FF #1 in VG for $250, an Avengers #1 in VF for $250, and a TOS #39 in VF for $250. I sold them long ago, but they'd be worth around $67000 now. I know dealers who would be multi-millionaires if they held onto the books they've sold over the years. I could've bought a Batman #1 in Fine restored for $1,000, but passed because that was a lot of money for me back then. What d you think that Batman #1 would be worth today? It would have moderate restoration today's standards.

Take any golden age $.10 book any silver age or bronze age $.25 book each of them you would be up. The early MCU movies and the Covid hysteria years of free money won't be repeated. Even with the correction after Covid most comic values are still higher than before the pandemic.

Good morning Lawrence yes, I went through the same HELL as you. But thank God, I kept some of my key.. my first amazing fantasy. 15. I bought that raw from the newspaper the comics buyers guide.. believe it or not but only $450. Yes, I was depressed when I graded it I didn’t know it was restored.. it came back 8.0 no trimming restored but it’s still roughly $20,000 buck maybe more yes I still have it.. of course, the one book I will never resell I’m taking it to my grave. Amazing fantasy 15. 6.0 I bought that at the New York comic con. No marvel chipping looks much better presentation wise.. I only paid $4000. Obviously, I sold a lot of books before they spiked on the other hand. I don’t bartend anymore.

The one book that I purchased as a kid that I traded away in this video that I kick myself in the butt about is Iron Man #1. Iron Man #2 was such a dud that I figured as a kid, made #1 expendable. Even as a jr. high kid at the time, I knew that Tales of Suspense #39 was the book to get for the real Iron Man #1, and that this #1 was a Stan Lee hyped up fake. Even back in '68 when I bought this book out of a comic book machine at a local supermarket, I thought the Gene Colan cover was really cool. Oh well!!

@@reprintranch Yes they were vending machines that had the comics piled up and you had to buy the book on the top to get to the book under it. So, we kids would do our best to look at the sides of the books under the top book to try to figure out what books were under it. You would place a dime in one slot and your 2 cents in the slot on other side of the lever and push the lever in and the turnstile would turn, and your comic would come out the bottom much like a candy machine operates. The were really good for picky comic book buyers, because the books spines would not be creased like books in the spin racks, because kids would bend the books over in spin racks as they would peruse through them. However, they were not good if you had to beg your mom for another 12 cents to get the book you wanted that was under the top book. Google sixties comic book machines for a look at one.

I mean, I get it but I am sure you made good money when you sold the books back in the day. So yeah you lost in today's money but probably made it out in yesterday's money. Can't really tell the future unless you bought books during the boom.
