  • A short video of The Great Lakes fell race that took place this Saturday 17th June 2023.
    My initial plan was to only film to make an Instagram reel, hence there's no introduction and very little dialogue. However, I had enough to make a short TH-cam video so here's something I threw together.
    To be honest I've been a bit reticent in filming during races. I prefer to focus on the race. However, this wasn't too much of a pain in the arse and it's quite nice to have a visual record of the experience so I'll probably continue to do it.
    They'll be short and sweet with minimal waffling.
    I didn't cramp up or come last on this race so I'm improving!
    Enjoy :)

      @@lakelandtrailrunner marathon is in December so plenty of time to train but it’s in Cyprus, hoping it won’t be boiling 🥵 🤷‍♂️

    Amazing! Well done on finishing what looked like a very long and challenging race.

      Thanks mate. Not as long as last week but with the more elevation, and I didn’t come last, result! 😂

    Good to see you beat the cut-offs last week👍. The Great Lakes looks like a challenge too. I've still to do, maybe next year.

    Cracking running John. That looks an awesome route. On my list for next year. We were right behind u=you on our leg 3 escapades, but were always just behind the field at each checkpoint. Good recovery after last week's epic 🦾

    Great video mate. How did you get on with the LaSportiva mutants for the run?

    • @lakelandtrailrunner

      Cheers mate glad you enjoyed it. They’re brilliant when the ground is hard underfoot and rocky but I find the stack height can be a bit hard on the ankles when you’re traversing grassy slopes and hoofing it through long grass and bog. But it’s 6 of one, half a dozen of the other if ya know what I mean?

      @@lakelandtrailrunner I was looking at trying some out but do prefer a more minimal stack height, especially at this time of year! Have you used them in the wet and/or winter?

    • @lakelandtrailrunner
      @lakelandtrailrunner  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RyanAsher1 I have mate. They’re good. They’ve an aggressive lug 5mm I think. Good grip and sticky on wet rock. Well sticky up to a point. They hold up in the mud too. But like you I prefer a lower stack height for mud and bog. I use mudclaws for that sort of thing. But the mutants are a good all rounder. Mudclaws are a bit thin over rocky ground for long distance for me.
