  • The Montane Lakeland 100 is actually 105 miles long. But I mean, I've done plenty of 100 milers before. How hard can it possibly be?
    Traversing clockwise around the Lake District, the Montane Lakeland 100 starts in Consiton and heads past Wast Water, through Buttermere and Keswick to Ullswater. It curves round and down to Hawswater, through Kentmere to Ambleside at the head of Lake Windemere, before finishing back in Coniston.

    Another great video Stephen and really shows what the L100 is all about. It's more than a 100 miler, its the family feel to it. Also many congratulations on finishing it. For me this year it was a DNF. I had finished the 100 miler last year but i started with a stress fracture or bad sprain on my big toe. I was nursing it and was doing well but with the sharp rocks by the time i got to 50 miles i could barely walk on that foot. The rest of the body was good but i was so worried i could mess up my foot more seriously and called it a day. To be honest i don't regret having to stop. It's what i had to do. Me and you was pretty much nearby for a big chunk of the first part and i would have said hi but i think you went past me at an aid station. After i got back to the school i was checking on you, Spencer and the rest of the people i knew who was doing it and i was so happy when you got that medal. Over 2 weeks on and i still haven't run, just nursing my foot. It is getting better though and it's already on my mind will i or won't i sign up for next year? We'll see ;) Catch you soon.

      Depends on the weather, this year the arc100 was quite mild. My time on it was still slower than LL100 tho. Perhaps the difference is expectations? The Arc is known to be brutal with a high DNF rate but LL100 could be easily underestimated (ie not changing socks halfway!)

    • @FilmMyRun
      @FilmMyRun  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi! So, yes I said that in the heat of the moment after finishing Lakeland, which was particularly tough partly because of the weather. In hindsight I would say they are probably equally tough for a first timer. The more I did the ARC the easier it got because I knew it so well. As for the others. TDS is by far the hardest of all of those. CCC was tough but looking back I was probably not prepared enough for it and if I went back I'd be hoping to do a lot better than I did. If you can do the ARC and CCC then Lakeland will probably feel about the same.

    • @FilmMyRun

      Feet recovered well afterwards and legs recovered very quickly, mostly because I didn’t run very much!! I think I should probably have done some foot care at the Dalemain checkpoint. Gosh you are so late to the party. Cant believe its taken you so long to get round to doing it considering you've done some other mammoth stuff. I think, and this may apply to you that a lot of people are put off because its classed as being self navigating and you need to be able to read a map and follow a road book buts its not like the Dragons Back where thats more critical. Ive finished the LL100 3 times and love it, every part of it, but hate the fact that its popularity has got so big that to get a place now you have to go into a lottery. When I first done it you could still get a place on the 100 weeks before turning up. Also interesting to hear you say its harder than the Arc. I would totally agree on that point as I have never finished the Arc but I think thats just because of the time of year rather than how hard it actually is.

      @FilmMyRun  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hahaha, honestly I've tried to get in for about 7 years. Was always too slow on the button in the early years and then this is the first time I've been drawn in the lottery!
