Totally agree, I always love to bring up his name when drummers are talking about who's the best/favs lists. It's hard to describe, but Todd has developed a style that sounds very functional at first hearing but also has that constant intrinsic layer of unhuman precision, control and complexity without sounding as overplay. The more you listen, the more you'll discover. It's like he took the professionalism and clear, open sound of Simon Phillips but gave it some more bite and added some extra Weckl magic. Todd is a mesmerizing drummer. I can't thank him enough for giving me that experience.
I just recieved a very gently used HH Session from a far away land and I am happy to report that it is all Todd and others say it is...never doubted it for a minute! Buttery feel, wonderful wash, crashable and stick definition. Musical and stays in control. All elements that your looking for are present and easily at your grasp. Dustinct Bell with balanced presence. Great transitions between wash, sticking, bell and crash. It does not ru away from you. I can see that mics will love this! Thank you Mr. Sucherman!!!
That actual cymbal from this video is not numbered. It was the cymbal that started the production of 250. It's essentially the pre-production ride that Sabian sent for the filming of the video.
@@toddsucherman I have one of these cymbals. Mine does not have a number or cert. Anyway I can get a cert of authenticity? I sent you a PM to your Instagram with info on how I got it. It sounds absolutely awesome.
@@EliPoli64 I was told he was pretty good at 3 or 3 1/2 years of age...by his mother. True, we can all learn skills, but Todd has an incredible ear, a penchant for drumming, and an incredible work ethic. I aspire and work to sound more like him, but I don't think I'll ever catch up with him.
I just purchased #114 yesterday at Midwest Drum and Percussion in Wichita. I used it at an outdoor show last night. The ‘TS’ was impressive! For a reference of the type of songs this ride was used, my band does a lot of 80’s pop/rock (Stray Cats, Simple Minds, Van Halen, Outfield, etc). The bell was fantastic....really cut through. Also, when playing the usual 8th notes or shuffles , I was able to pull out brighter or darker sounds depending on where I was striking the ride. And it all came through loud and clear! I haven’t been this excited about buying a cymbal in decades. Well worth price! If you are thinking about buying one of these, do it! You will not regret the decision. BTW, my wife doesn’t need to know about this.
I'm a huge fan of Sabian and always have been since I started playing. The Sabian reps at PASIC told me that just because a cymbal is no longer in the catalogue, doesn't mean they can't still make it, they keep all of their past creations archived and allow special orders. If I ever become a Sabian artist, I would ask if I can buy one of these. This is the perfect sounding ride for every style I play, would love to play one of these someday!!
Good to read that. I pulled the plug on it out of curiosity because I have two sets of Sabians trying to look for my own sound I like, the Paragon and the HHX Evolution. I use them mixed up but the Evolution line is brighter and opens faster; the Ride that came with the Evolutions I do not like at all, I do like the Paragon Ride and HH and the Chinas, can not wait to compare this Ride to the Paragon; it is almost double in price! I am very happy with the Paragon ride so soon I will find out, if it is not clearly better in the sound I can always return it! The price on it is pretty insane!
@@fireyourrocketts It's a nice ride. Never gets lost in the mix and has its own voice. The bell is a pleasure, cuts through no matter how you hit it. The cymbal itself responds well to all volume levels from hard hitting to subtle play. The glassy wash is first class.
I’m so sad I missed out on getting one of these rides. Just couldn’t swing it at the time. To everyone who got their hands on one, congrats on an incredible ride.
I am looking for two ride cymbals. Both like the old Zildjian Ping rides. Low, almost no overtones or buildup, one higher pitch, the other significantly lower in pitch. I play two rides in my setup
Congratulations on your signature Sabian HH ride cymbal Todd. It sounds Amazing! I really like the idea of a ride cymbal being so versatile. Also your drumming. Incredible as always!
Really hate the new Sabian logo, but was fortunate enough to see Todd play twice. I also live about an hour from Sabians Factory, maybe I can watch mine get made ;)
Todd- please tell me this isn't your home studio. Puh-leeez. I feel like I'm on a factory tour of the snare room. Sick. Speaking of....LOVE your chops, and I've rediscovered Styx. YOUR drumming did it.
sounds really good in the video, i like it a lot and is good they made with your name, signature, you deserve this for be the great drummer youare.....
I will concur on that. I have the HH Sessions Ride and an HH Raw Bell Dry Ride (21" brilliant). I've compared them side by side, and they are not the same at all.
Really good review of the cymbal and cool video. I use a Paragon 22" from. the Neil Peart's commercial set and have not been able to find a better one yet. This one sounds really good and versatile as well.
Hey Todd I just did. A master clsss with you in salt lake and I was just wondering if you could check out videos I post of drums and give me some feedback thanks josh
Todd, I just bought tickets for your fall show in Cleveland Ohio (MGM, Northfield). Unfortunately I’m not in a position to afford the backstage Meet & Greet package. Is there any other way of having the chance to meet you and say hello that evening? Once again, keep up the great work and awesome videos! Best, Brian
Im just here to ask if you' ve seen my cover of Tom Sawyer, i would be interested in hearing what my biggest idol says about it! If you're wondering who my biggest idol is, its you!
Best bell imo. It combines the cutting definition of let's say a HH Power Bell ride with the warmth of a HHX Evolution ride. Simply gorgeous! 🤩
Underrated technical genius on drums. His name should come up in more conversations about great drummers.

The best ride cymbal

Yeah, Bruce! Glad you scored one and that you like it!

I have 4 cymbals with "000". This is one of them. Your point being?

I feel like this could be included in the Anthology series with how versitile this is. Its incredible!
Every one of your cymbals is so pleasing to the ear...This new edition is no exception.
I wish I had a quarter of the talent he’s got. Saw him live about 4 years ago. Incredible drummer.
I'd take an 8th tbh
You can have it! Just work at it bro!
Talent doesn't exist. He's just got a ton of experience and hours of practice. But yeah, I'd love to have a 16th of his skill.
be YOURSELF. Interpret music YOUR way. Take a piece of his style as your own, and add it to what you already do, to become unique that way

This may be the best ride Sabian has ever designed. Absolutely love it!

Just wanna say i got my session ride and i am blown away hands down the best ride i have ever played

Come on Todd. Convince Sabian to add this cymbal to the catalog. Offer it in traditional and brilliant finish and it’ll sell like HOTCAKES!
I want a 22" version
It is a 22".
I got #040 last week through Fred Pierce Drum Studio in St.Louis, MO! It was expensive, but worth every penny!

Great sounding cymbal and no doubt, excellent drummer playing it! Rock on Todd!

Congratulations on your cymbal being released Todd. Only 250 available? WOW!!!
in this vid you ended up with 22" HHX since it was proto did it become the "legacy" with the bigger bell v/s the "vangard"?
Absolutely gorgeous. If they can do a 20” and have it sound like that, I’m in. Thanks Todd.
Is this available to the public ?
Yes; there were only 250 made.
Versatile cymbal. I'm a fan of the stick definition and pitch of the bell.
Really hate the new Sabian logo, but was fortunate enough to see Todd play twice. I also live about an hour from Sabians Factory, maybe I can watch mine get made ;)
I’ve been waiting this for years!!! It costs a lot, maybe too much... but i will go for it 😁
How was it?did it live up to ur expectations?
What's the pricing? I'm interested, but assuming it's out of my price range as well
Trevor: $594.99.

I hear everything but ride cymbal.

I'm buying mine soon
James T. Calhoun: You’d better move fast! The availability isn’t one that is expected to last for long!
The prototype you've let me try it was amazing, really look forward to try this one as well! Well done T-
felicidades Todd por sus Signature Sabian.
Sort of reminds me of the original K. Custom, and Paiste Sig Dry Ride.
Sounds great. Sounds like a Zildjian K Custom Dry Ride.
My man! Learning so much from RDM! Much ❤️
sounds really good in the video, i like it a lot and is good they made with your name, signature, you deserve this for be the great drummer youare.....
Que belleza de platillos! ese Ride HH campana muy definida.
there're garages in the bronx?
Just get the 21" HH Raw Bell Ride.
Nope...not even close.
I will concur on that. I have the HH Sessions Ride and an HH Raw Bell Dry Ride (21" brilliant). I've compared them side by side, and they are not the same at all.
Incredible sound!
How many grams it has?
stunning i wish could afford one :(

No, nothing like a Rock Ride at all.
