The LT1 had its issues but anyone that has seen the "Grub Worm" built by Tick Performance knows that power isn't one of them.

When you know what you're doing. The LT1 is fine... Ask Karl Ellwein & all his customers and racing budding. Also Jonathan Atkins who owns the Grubbworm. Literally a record holding Camaro with a LT1 out of a Caprice. On 70 pounds of boost at that... Something LS guys will swear on their life isn't possible. These engines are very reliable when cared for properly I'm the second owner of my 95 SS no major repair outside of a rear gear swap. Safe to say... user error is a MF & is all too common, most guys who own these don't even have a Factory Service Manual (not the owners manual). And I'll take the Super Saiyan Caprice comment lol... Let's not forget where the caprice came from 😎. Makes the SS Impala's return in the 90s even cooler. Most annoying comparison ever IMO. Cuda & challenger guys don't do this neither do Firebird & Camaro guys or Yukon & Tahoe guys. Only people who don't own these care 😂😂. And let's not talk about plastic interiors 🤦🏿 and them wanting better cop cars has NOTHING to do with why these were made. Look up Jon Moss interviews... The designer of these.

Back in the day, us Kountry Bois kept our home built car engines in top shape just in case we had to outrun 🚔. Those box Caprice used to get left in the dust!!! Those box Crown Vics had roller cam 302's and State Troopers had the Crown w/ 351 Big Block. Then they came out with those Fox Body 5.0 with those TALL Interstate Gears. Those 5.0 didn't have enough Torque under the hood for my 1970 Chevy Impala Custom Coupe w/ Stock 4BBL 400 small block(came w/ 4BBL 350 LT1), 350 transmission w/shift kit and the vacuum modulator disconnected(stronger shift...break ya neck), dual Ol Skool Turbo Thrush exhaust. Not sure of the factory rear gear but once I dropped "The Golden Child" in 2nd gear it was ALL over. ChevyAllDay🤜🏿🤛🏿

I've had the stock opti & 60e in my 9c1 n im at 150k, still pumping. Opti's only went out alot on 94s because they weren't vented n people failed to do tune ups, or their vent line was damaged(or not hooked to intake). Also the 60e in these cars wasn't too bad. It's only 260/330, so it's not alot of power going through it. Also impalas & 9c1s had quicker ratio steering boxes & shared g80. 3.08s(in most lt1 9c1s). There is also the tow package caprice(b4u) which was the only way to get a lt1 in a caprice that wasn't a 9c1(mechanical fan is the tell tell sign)...

For interior I gray leather 12 way seats out of contemporary Pontiac Bonneville SSE with matching back seats. There more sporty than the stock Impala SS seats. Better for Auto-X and road course work.
You are right in 2022 it makes way better sense to do an LS swap than to continually mess with the LT1 platform. Since LSx’s are now dime a dozen at the salvage yards figuratively speaking. Heck you can get 400+ RWHP out of a NA Heads and Cam 5.3 liter LS truck motor. And people been doing so for nearly 20 years now.

My 95 is now an obd2 car. Allowing me to do and extensive tune. Had my original lt1 built for boost. I’ll be doing a pro charger. I’ll be about 600-650 hp. I’m not anti LS swap . My car sits super low I drive through puddles all the time 😂... Look on my page to see how low it sits, avoiding puddles would make the car useless. Been sitting this low for years....And 90K is a reach 😂😂 there's many fleet services that have gotten way over that no rebuild of any sort. Mine is pushing over 265k second owner majority highway miles old man owned before me. What no one seems to acknowledge is it's not always about the mechanical object but the operator & usage of the object. Every and anything is "junk" to someone.

281 k 96 impala 5.3 stage 2 cammed Ls. Swapped at 275k. Lt1 is a good engine. Ls just cheaper to upgrade and maintain. 3.73 gears. 4l60e upgraded to stronger parts. Never will sell this car.

I wouldn't change that engine I would do a 383 an put a distributor on the back .by the time you swap engine that's a built 383 .did you say a 383 would hurt some Ls engine ok let's go.
