I bought my 96 impala back in 2013 w only 5k miles. I wanted this car ever since it came out, the same year I turned 16. I have every receipt for everything done to it. I now have 77k miles. I paid the price for it. I was always about 99.357% sure it was a true SS. But now I know after seeing the build sheet under the passenger seat. Thank you sir. It’s legit.
Good info. I'm the original owner of my '96 Impala SS. I bought it new in late '95. So, I have no doubt it is the real deal. However, my insurance company and the DMV say it's a Caprice - based on the VIN. I know the Impala is an option for the Caprice but nothing in the VIN says anything about Impala. Not a big deal but a little annoying.
Hey man I got a 93 Caprice, I want an Impala SS but I wouldn’t do the clone thing it’s pointless! I do believe though they’re both great cars and are fraternal twin brothers just some different features rock with what you got Caprice/Impala can’t go wrong with neither #Bbodies over any other sedan on the road my opinion!!!

Mannn i really appreciate how u used the pics for side by side comparison. I knew alot of the clues, but i still learned a few new ones. This was awesome. I have a 93 caprice on 26s. But i plan on getting a 95 turquoise impala one day. 😏😏👌
So I came here cause I recently bought a 95 SS and was trying to figure if it was a clone or not cause the car has been repainted, I found the build sheet under the passenger seat it has WX3 print and the vin matches .. thanks for the video brother I was stressing out
Man its so crazy because you taught me that I had a clone 95 and I bought it that way but I customized it and I was kinda bummed learning as you were teaching the difference between the two but you also made me realize that even tho I dont have a true SS I have fun in it and thats all that matter and another person would not still be able to tell and Im just gone have fun in my “SS” 🤣🤣🤣 appreciate the knowledge bro 💪🏿
I appreciate the kind words and I’m glad you’re still enjoying it! That’s what these cars are about! I’ve have just as much fun in my wagon and 9c1 as I do in my SS. It’s what you make of it and I’m glad you made it yours!
I'll know cause I watched this video. Jk. Wish I had a dark cherry red one. 96. I used to sell em new in 96. Real boat ride to me. More than Cadillacs. I hope you didn't pay an ss price. Hate con artist
I've had two of them the 95 brand new from the dealership and the 96 I got the 96 because it had the shifter on the floor and both the titles said Caprices, I liked to almost shit a brick !
Just watched your vid and then subscribed!!!! Have a question, do you know where I might find the door sticker you spoke of, Arlington, Texas to be exact, I just punched a 96 and would like to add one. Didn’t have it when I purchased it, nor did I know that fun fact, seeing how I live down I-45 South, Houston, Tx, who knew!!!
Thanks for the subscribe. The best suggestion would be to try prof SS gear on FB. They make a ton of sweet impala items, door stickers, ect. Even though I haven’t seen the Arlington stick on their site, I’m sure they can make it or point the direction of who. facebook.com/profSSgear?mibextid=LQQJ4d
The 96 caprice b4u package had everything the 9c1 had also including the impala, that's probably the best package impala/caprice available, title even reads impala/caprice, so if someone wanted to clone one that's the best option because it's the best of both worlds 🌎, I got 1 myself!😉
So with all that being said a 9c1 seems to be better overall than the impala ss. It’s just the fact that limited numbers were made is why someone would want to clone. The caprices has it all with a bowtie on the hood to show the luxury
I just purchased a 95 Chevy Impala but little confused and has everything like the engine the trunk but the seats are 60 40s and the door panels look like the Caprice do I have an Impala or a Caprice engine is a 5.7 v8
Glad you asked. B4U is the option code used on civilian caprice sedans for the package that included the LT1 engine, FE3 suspension, V08 HD cooling, V20 towing package, as well as a host of other parts of the package. To get the LT1 you had to get the package, so no civilian LT1 sedans exist without it. Some of the stuff included were the 140 amp alternater, heavy weight disc/drum brakes (meaning 11" rear drums), 2.93 gears, posi, quick ratio steering (identical to 9C1 and SS), 235/70VR15 tires (although the door sticker only calls for S speed rated, all LT1 caprice sedans I've seen had V rated rubber as OE), engine oil cooler and extra trans cooler (identical to SS). Towing package included the same HD frame used on SS and 9C1 models. What don’t you get with a B4U vs 9C1 or WX3 (SS). 9C1's got the crap beat out of them. B4U's didn't. SS's got raced/beat on too. B4U's have a 108 mph top speed limiter, so nobody took one out and wound it out to 140. Depending on when it was built, B4U's got ALL the body bushings, like a 9C1. B4U's were available BEFORE the SS came out -- I took delivery of mine in December 1993; the first SS's came out the following February. Every single mod one can do to a SS can be done to a B4U, with some minor procedural differences, although it'd be stupid to do certain things, like the stealth bolt brake bias mod, conceived for rear disc brake cars (besides, the brake bias is RIGHT on a B4U).
Really what you choose. Iv debated this a while and come to the conclusion to wait till my LT1 is toast. I added the simple bolt on upgrades to the LT1, but these kinda are performance parts from 25 years ago and outdated by todays standards. So, if you’re looking for massive HP gains, you’re gonna spend bucks into a built 383 LT1, or even an LS swap. You could always go the less and put a higher mileage vortex from the junkyard into the car, but honestly it’s kinda like just the same as having the current set up. My plans for a swap are going to be newer LT or LS based, but I will be getting a whole donor car (wreck or something). For the amount of money I have into my C10 with a vortex, I could have bought a whole vehicle (like a van with a 6.0). I am waiting for my current LT1 to break though.
My 95 impala ss title says caprice classic/ impala ss but all the stuff match on the 95 impala ss from the stickers you showed on the video I have all that but not the paper under the seat it’s not there but all other things it dose have n my Insurance has it has caprice/impala ss like my title so my 95 is a real impala ss rite

Mr impala parts on Instagram, or on the Impala SS forums. That would be your best bet.
