Freaky Eaters documents the intense struggles of those with a dangerous compulsion towards a particular food. With the help of two experts, the Freaky Eater confronts the painful truth behind their food obsession and fights to reclaim control of their diet and combat the destructive side effects their behaviour is having on their health. Patients include a girl who drinks more than 30 cans of cola a day, a 29-year-old mother who only eats French fries and a diabetic who has a life-threatening addiction to cheeseburger. Can they overcome their dependencies and learn how to manage their diets?

You say they picked their father over her and so we should feel sorry for her, and yet the majority of the time perfectly capable fathers are left with no custody when courts nearly automatically give full custody to mothers who may not be capable at all. There seems to be no sympathy for them? This addiction is her own choice.
Her sugar addiction is psychological. The 'feel good' fix is no different from alcohol, nicotine, substance, food, etc. She's got great children for support. Nice lady.

Sugar and food release dopamine, high stimulation that similar to sex and illicit drug use. It’s obvious she used sugar to make herself to feel good in order to deal with her breakup and loss of her children.
she ate and fed her kids sugar whenever they came to her house so that they would love her more. now eating that sugar reminds her of her kids, and how comforting it was to feel loved and attached

I see how sad her eyes were. Even if she says that sugar makes her "happy", it just eases the pain for a while, but she is still suffering. She is still depressed, in some point. I had a binge eating problem for a few years, who hasn't, it's like trying to back to being a child and when the eating all over it's the deepest pit of despair.

The longest I can go without sugar is probably a day. It's comforting, sugar releases oxytocin,it makes us happy. It's a great feeling and it's hard to stop because thebwe don't want to stop experiencing that feeling.

My grandma is like this lady. She loves her food, and fills her grandchildren with sugar when they visit. Even though we’re all adults by now. I don’t like to visit her, how lonely she may be. All there is to her is the sugary snacks. No real, nice conversations or even a nice hug.
I loved to visit her when I was younger because she gave us all the things my mum wouldn’t let us have, to the point I was nauseous when we would go home. But as I grew up to a teen, I stopped enjoying the visits. My grandma meant well in her mind, but I understand the woman’s kids picking their dad, if sugar was all that their mum had to offer.

It does hurt and what she went through is like she wanted her kids to like her. This episode is sad and even I admit being alone means yeah you don’t have frustrations. I could relate my first ex who I work with kept asking if I was okay like literally a week after our relationship ended. I wanted to be left alone and I told her to give me more time. She got mad at me because I didn’t feel like talking to her and that I talk to other people (friends and family). Mind you she dumped me. And that hurt me to the extent being alone was the best and only option. It hurts but I do feel sad to admit that being alone was the best outcome for the people I knew. Because I do think maybe I was the problem. It just my heart broke when I heard her say and agreed being alone means you have no frustrations.

Amen. Her kids need to step up and be there for her. Talk to her. Help her get a game plan together. It's not that hard, she took care of you, all it takes is conversation. Call each other, 3 times a day for a week. You only have to talk for 5 minutes each time but that would help to feel like someone is there all day.

If you're trying and you feel like they still dislike you, find the time to talk things out with them privately.
If things go wrong, then, *cut them out of your life* ( *you don't need them if they act like that and you don't need that negativity in your life* ) ; focus more on your relationship between you and your biological parent. Don't let your step-parent ruin your relationship with your mother. Good luck!

I disagree. Maybe that was right in this case, I don't know, but you should NEVER feel obligated to visit an abusive parent (not saying that was the case in the video, but you made a general statement). There ARE good reasons to cut your parent(s) out of your life.

The son wants to help with her sugar addiction but her addiction is literally connected to how lonely she is, she literally burst into happy tears when she saw her son, meaning that it’s been a long time! She is doing this to make her kids happy and wanna stay and they go and leave her for long periods of time and wonder why she gets lonely and depressed.
She grew dependent on having her children. It shouldn't be on them to keep her out of this because it's her problem, not theirs

She stocked her cupboards full of sugar, and just loaded her kids with it when they visited... they doesn’t sound like a healthy relationship with your kids.
My grandma is like this lady. She loves her food, and fills her grandchildren with sugar when they visit. Even though we’re all adults by now. I don’t like to visit her, how lonely she may be. All there is to her is the sugary snacks. No real, nice conversations or even a nice hug.
I loved to visit her when I was younger because she gave us all the things my mum wouldn’t let us have, to the point I was nauseous when we would go home. But as I grew up to a teen, I stopped enjoying the visits. My grandma meant well in her mind, but I understand the woman’s kids picking their dad, if sugar was all that their mum had to offer. There must be more to the story when kids pick their dad over their mum; her being so lonely must mean they didn’t share custody equally, and the kids choosing to stay with dad more than mum.
Oh yeah yeah I know. But I do find it kind of telling she thought she had to shower her kids in sweets, and never making them a home cooked meal. Something must have gone wrong with sweets and feelings when she was young as well. I have my own ‘addiction’, and spend more time on the internet than might be healthy in my free time. But I know it’s not healthy, and I’m a babysitter, and I make sure that when I watch kids, I go out to playgrounds and woods with them. I don’t put them in front of the tablet to be ‘the fun babysitter’; I know what I do is not healthy, so I even make sure to keep my phone away, and have a book ready if I have some free time, to set a good example.
I’m not saying she was a bad mother. We don’t know all the details, and they might have added some drama to the episode. I’m just saying, her children not visiting her, doesn’t make her the only victim: the kids must have their reasons.

Abandon from outside life and no support or tru love or care you tend to create your own support and for me is sleep and antisocial behavior mainly depressed and sadness. Sometimes crave for sweet and junk food. It’s a circle of depression. May god help us all

It makes me wonder about the dynamic during her marriage. She strikes me as a compassionate and overly sensitive person, somewhat like my mom, and I know my mom and dad married fairly young without much prior life experience (though that was rather typical in the 70's). My maternal grandma, who looked after me when my mom was working, comforted every scraped knee or hurt feeling with something sweet. So I sort of get it.
