- Trials of Mumbai metro line 3, the aqua line between Colaba-Bandra-Speez have begun, and the first phase of the project between BKC and Aarey colony is set to be inaugurated in the next few days. The real problem is a lack of strategic development strategy, business finance, PPP finance and full professional collaboration. This will be fully realised as the common man is no longer a bare chested, white coloured lungi gante fart.
Wonder when Thane - Navi Mumbai belt will get a Metro that conneccts to the Airport & the major long distance Railway stations . Most Average common people live in the suburbs in this belt & not in South Mumbai & its adjoining suburbs.-

Transit oriented development (TOD)zone of 500m around boundary of metro station of Colaba to Seepz route is very less and should be extended to 800-900m or 65-70% of distance between two consecutive metro stations on Colaba to Seepz route. On Vanaz-Ramwadi metro route of Pune City, average distance between two successive metro stations is approx 1km and TOD zone is 650m from boundary of metro station. Plot area constraint should also be removed for TOD zone FSI in Mumbai metro route 3 and there are few buildings in Mumbai Island whose plot area exceeds 10000sqm. FSI in metro TOD zone should be higher than what a building may get from alternatives in dcpr 2034 like cluster redevelopment or sra redevelopment or cess building redevelopment or self redevelopment
Car and scooter parking should not be provided much in metro TOD zone as then it does not serve purpose of using metro. Cycle parking should be encouraged as cycle can be carried inside metro too.
Urban development department has to consider above in making a resolution about clause 33(23) in dcpr2034

I live in Worli and thanks god finally we will be connected to some central public transport other than bus, i always have to go to dadar to travel north.

They should immediately get rid of blocked areas for metro work on roads specially Worli Naka signal on the left side, which has been there for ages. There is no work going on there and looks like it has been there like a dump since a long time! It's a menace to cross the Worli Naka signal when it's peak traffic time... Sorry, but the Metro work has been pushed for way too long!
