So, in the book Demian: The Story of Emil Sinclair's Youth, the conflict between characters bearing the Mark of Cain ends up causing the "most terrible of wars", that being WW1. In Limbus, Demian, Sinclair and Sonya have a mark on their forehead, which is synonymous with the Mark of Cain, so the theory is that the City will end up in a giant civil war because of us. Edit: Dante's head is a reference to the Doomsday Clock, the idea is that "the world will end when the clock strikes midnight", and at the end of chapter 4 Dante's clock gets closer to midnight after talking with Demian, a bearer of the Mark of Cain
