    ROV Deep Discoverer and ROV Seirios
    EX1711 Dive 10
    2017-12-12 16:54:22 UTC
    Gulf of Mexico, Green Canyon Area, St. Tammany Basin
    ~1500 meters below sea level
    A biodiverse brine pool which dominates the underwater landscape is explored for the first time by enchanted scientists.
    The Inner Space Center is the official live streaming partner of the Okeanos Explorer. Using cutting-edge equipment, the ISC transcodes and distributes all three simultaneous live streams to the Internet and participating scientists.
    Note: During Okeanos Explorer live dives, you may also hear communications between those on the bridge (where the captain is driving the ship) and navigators helping direct ROV pilots. Scientists will be on the left channel of audio and ROV/navigation will be on the right channel.

      They are communicating to multiple separate people at the same time, so it is going to overlap at times. Just like multiple groups of people having different conversations in the same room, where sometimes they interact together.

    • @innerspacecenter
      @innerspacecenter  6 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      For data transparency, we record and stream all of the audio. On the ship, they have 'pre-mixed' the comms with an audio board, so the science party is on the left channel, and ROV/navigation is on the right channel. The ROV pilot, and everyone onboard, can pick and choose who they hear and who they talk to, so they have even greater customization available and don't get distracted.

    • @FlatlandMando

      Maybe they can't hear each other with the same intensity that we hear their combined voices.

    This makes me wonder if the gulf has saltier water. I’ve grown up swimming in the gulf but then when I’ve swam in other oceans, the water, (that inevitably splashes in your mouth) doesn’t seem as bad.

  • @MDVBIGDADDYQ007
    @MDVBIGDADDYQ007 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    If saltwater is denser and freezes at a lower temperature than fresh water,doesn't 3-8× more salinity = even lower freezing point for brine pool?

  • @niagarawarrior9623

    i dont know how these operations take place, but it sounds like a LOT of coordination involved with different aspects of the mission team. Lots of overlapping chatter in these videos.
    Also what is that thing visible at 7:51 near the top of the screen? is that a submersible drone or something living?
    great video.

    • @kevinfortin8240
      @kevinfortin8240 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      takumi168 its dence salt water it wont turn into water since it already is water just really dence and salty actually it will grow more and more the lobger it stays maybe if the land were to change it would start to dispurse but for now its gonna keep getting bigger and bigger and dencer with salt water

    • @skrubknight884
      @skrubknight884 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      the pool does very slowly dilute into the surrounding water, but its much like how insulation keeps your home warm. the slow dilution means only the very thin surface layer dilutes, protecting the underlying brine and the salt deposit feeding it at the bottom, so pools could last for centuries or more easily

  • @user-ec2bc9ee9q
    @user-ec2bc9ee9q 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Brine lakes are deadly to a lot sea species. . .brine lakes are basically very salty bodies of water on the sea floor. However some species like bacteria, achaea, crabs, fish, and worms. By the way, I am not getting this information off of the internet it just so happens that I want to be a marine biologist in the near future. 😇
