  • @deathbyseatoast8854

    Imagine if over millions of years, these organisms become even more complex, and these colonial animals specialize even more. similarly to how cells in our bodys had specialize into different body parts and organs when we became multi cellular, what if these animals are just another evolutionary step, being "multi colonial" organs made out of entire animals that have evolved and specialized to fulfill certain functions like the cells in our bodys have.
    The whole concept of these beautiful creatures amazes me.

    • @sierraseven3680
      @sierraseven3680 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      @@ammaarific2334 It's a humorous turn of phrase meaning, "I can do better than that." The image is of people hanging out together, one of them doing something impressive or a bit crazy, then saying something like "Try to top that!" Another person hands their beverage to someone to avoid spilling it, then proceeds to try to out-do the first person. Thus the short-hand phrase, "Hold my beer." It's a beer rather than a soft drink because people are more likely to compete at doing crazy things under the influence of alcohol. Although, I've certainly seen people who would say "Hold my root beer!"

    • @Randopatchi
      @Randopatchi 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Colonial hydroids like this evolved from multicellular organisms related to jellyfish and sea anemones, kinda like reduced anatomy after already being truly multicellular, to form this way. Organisms that would be better for an analogous link between single celled and multicellular organisms could be volvox, a type of colonial algae, and possibly slime molds, that come to mind; those are not our ancestors, though.
