  • From the South Pacific to California's coast, documenting deepwater coral colonies to the peaks of underwater volcanoes, the 2019 Nautilus expedition has spanned six months and hundreds of hours of ROV dives. As we switch our live streams off for the year, catch up on some of our most spectacular sightings to grace our deep sea spotlight--including a whale fall feeding bonanza, ballooning cirroteuthid octopus, new vent fields, and a sinuous, rarely-seen squid.
An oceanwide thank you to the hardworking Nautilus ship's crew, all of the science teams and partners who sailed with us this year--and all our viewers-turned-explorers who joined us on Nautilus Live as we marveled at deep sea reaches never before seen by human eyes. Stay tuned for more highlights from our season, and join us again in early summer 2020 as we launch our next expedition!
    ------------------------------------------
E/V Nautilus is exploring unknown regions of the ocean seeking out new discoveries in biology, geology, and archaeology. Join us 24/7 for live video from the seafloor and to ask questions of our explorers currently aboard Nautilus: www.nautiluslive.org.

THANK YOU! A deep water video that understands there are still those of us out there with more than a one minute attention span. Excellent stuff. My thought was instantly coral, and it surprised me when I saw it was called that. I enjoyed all the 'whoas' and stuff, glad to see you are enjoying it. I did. And some of the animals that deep are beyond weird, asymmetrical eyes looking different directions, up usually being one of them, and the like. Some of them are absolutely gorgeous.
I heard a good analogy (actually comparison) in one of the Cameron Challenger Deep videos that the pressure at that point is similar to the pressures in a shotgun barrel, when fired. Kind of gets it across.

The creature did not think the sub was a threat. It that were the case it would have been in that form as soon as it sensed the submarine coming from miles away. It gracefully and peacefully was showing off its beauty. Most humans tend to forgot the life force behind all matter on Earth is love not fear. This is why scientist are no different than you and me, all they have done is filled their mind with man made words and definitions.
