      @@Imadeyoumad288 I would say limitations, time constraints and launching the game on a discontinued console announced before the game came out, instead of just not giving a fuck.
      If they did have the ability to do level dlc it would be limited to content on the disc with custom models/items being sparsely made as the dlc would most likely take forever to download and take up a whole vmu or a huge chuck of a gcn memory card.

      This level is fanmade & breaks unwritten rules for Sonic Adventure 2 such as only 1 Gold Beetle per mission layout. We don't have our own Kaze completely reconstructing the game like Super Mario 64 has so full level creations for SA2 are quite rare.

    I miss the era of Sonic games where you could actually control the character instead of pressing a button and watching the level fly by. They tried to turn it into a racing-style game, but without any opponents trying to beat you to the finish line. The idea that Sonic is effortlessly fast rather than building up to an incredible top speed through parkour kills everything that made those games so much fun. If speed isn't even a challenge, then why do I want to go fast?

    THIS SA2 physics is what I wanted sonic frontiers to be... Nothing automated, maybe some bits of a loop when needed but that's it. In frontiers I feel I can't do what I want (and if so, it looks and feels weird like when jumping off from rails), it's a false freedom feel, but with this physics would be another story.

    • @kaosagamerreal
      @kaosagamerreal ปีที่แล้ว

      its really not automation that's the problem, it was balanced fine in frontiers
      forces overused it

    • @ShuzakuItachi
      @ShuzakuItachi ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kaosagamerreal in frontiers if you run a "thin" path without being a loop and you go full speed it's that annoying mechanic of LB RB to step left center right... in SA2 as long as it was not a loop, you can move free to the sides with analog, thats automatic or almost in frontiers (never played forces, never will) and all games after SA2 raios were semi to full automated, never balancing nor having any difficulty to change between parallel rails.

    • @guardraillovah7753
      @guardraillovah7753 ปีที่แล้ว

      First of all, automation it's not related to physics nor is freedom.
      And second, this is probably the worst example possible when making a point about level design and freedom. This is just a big mess that wanted really hard to look cohessive but failed in the same moment as you notice that the level design was not even made for the SA2 physics. Imagine a random SA level, put it inside a blender and sellect the slowest pacing you can think of, then add slope physics oriented parts and then just paste it into an SA2 loader forgetting completely that _SA2 rating sistem_ does not reward exploration in Sonic/Shadow levels. (btw no, finding an upgrade won't wive you an A rank, and this level doesn't even have upgrades to begin with, Rings or some slow af paced platforming section aren't enough reward to the player for wasting 15 minutes of doing nothing)
      One last thing, SA and SA2 had a lot more automation that you think, just try count every dashpad you see and you'll know what i'm talking about. Or try to Move after passing a ramp or a launcher, same with SA, but the fact that it have less of them actually make it worse lmao, automation it's not a bad thing when your camera it's utter sh1t.
      Geez, Sonic fans never know sh1t about level design but they somehow get angry when their crappy close-minded feedback isn't taken seriously by devs.

    • @ShuzakuItachi
      @ShuzakuItachi ปีที่แล้ว

      @@guardraillovah7753 @Guardrail Lovah never said anything about how you get ranks or such, or that I'm a super master of knowledge as you seem to be, just that frontiers have no naural feel for me, and it seems even the world for frontiers is not made for it's own physics anyways. And no, never said this stageopenworldorwhatever had sense, but that with a sa2 control probably could enjoy something what frontiers had to offer.
      SA and SA2, shitty cameras and SOME dash panels here and there, still replayable for me, and free, even if you say it has nothing to do with auto, and Frontiers, well, for ME it was a finish and delete. Even people not on sonic games tried both and immediately said frontiers felt like shit

      Green Hill Zone in SA2 was actually super hype back in the day. Being one of the first times ever it was seen in 3D. Plus it wasn't DLC it was a completely unexpected Bonus Stage. One of the best unlockables in a game to this day.

  • @brandonj_300

    The aesthetics look pretty great in this stage but the layout could probably use some work. Seems very cramped and packed with enemies/obstacles that prevent you from maintaining speed for more than a few seconds at a time, and the general scale and proportions of the level layout seem too small for a character like Sonic to navigate through. I haven't played sa2 in years but I feel like examining the "rhythm" of the original levels and how the speed sections and obstacles are paced out is something the developer(s) should do if they end up making another stage mod.
    I also feel like it could've used more fixed camera angles instead of relying on the free camera 100% of the time; I'm sure some people will disagree with this but I prefer the approach to cameras that most newer Sonic games have because I'm not really a fan of having to fidget with the camera at all when playing a level. Though i've heard before that adding fixed cameras to sa2 stages is apparently a nightmare to deal with, so in the end I'll give the stage a pass for that.
