Not always a good idea to be out of the wind; but certainly being aware of it; and it's strength and direction. And also your tents capabilities with regards wind resistance. In Scotland, in midge season; or close to water; it's good to be in a semi sheltered spot; putting the tail end of the tent, into the wind; and make the midges lives hell; instead of them doing that to you! Some good tips here! Never thought about burning toilet paper; good call! Excellent post, well done! Love the Alpkit Soloist, by the way; great choice! At 1.2 kilos, and a small pack size; for the money, it's a much underestimated little tent.
It’s done about 30 trips out with me in most environments and holding up well. I’m really impressed with it. With the footprint it makes it feel stronger I would want to use it without it.
Enjoyed the video! We are located in the States in the South - Louisiana. We are introducing the craft of Wild Camping to our Outdoor Recreationist with our CAMPTERRA TH-cam Channel. We'd love to connect and possibly do a video Collab together discussion on UK Wild Camping vs. Southern U.S. Wild Camping. 💪👍👌😊
Great video pal 👍
Thank you buddy.

Looking forward to camping in the mountains with you and Maggie. 🤟
I do the double roll with my matt too! After the first I close the valve, lay it out and open the valve as I re roll. 👍
