I hate that these types of videos don't do better on your channel, because this is the good stuff! I've been customizing since I was a kid, but I always learn something new from your techniques!
Thank you, this is amazing, this is a figure that i wouldn't have paid £5 for due to how it looks, but now you have possibly sent me down a new hobby path and opened up more figures it wouldnt have considered before...great work!
It doesn’t have to be about the view count, Luke. Knowing that those of us who watch these tutorials find them super inspiring and that they help us improve our skills in the hobby can beat view numbers! We get A LOT out of these. They mean so much to me personally.
Super inspiring work here! I passed on the HK droid because it was so plain looking from what we saw in the show. I really liked the droids in fighting action. You’ve proven here that a little extra effort with paint applications can push mediocre figures into a much more detailed and screen accurate masterpiece! Thanks
Dude. What a great paint video. This is seriously one of the best I’ve seen. And it’s nothing crazy. It’s just presented in a clear, concise manner. Thanks for this!
As a hobbyist customizer, super useful to see that you don't NEED to dismantle figs and soap bath them and airbrush them and all that rigmarole to get really fantastic and much quicker results!
This was EXCELLENT! Really helpful - you make the process feel accessible and not intimidating. Look out, HK! Def more of this kind of video, please! 🙌
I’ve never painted a figure before, but if I ever decide to do so, it would definitely be either this or NED-B due to your instructional videos. Very easy to follow!
These customizing videos are among my favorite that you do. I don’t think anyone else is covering this aspect of collecting. I was inspired to buy some Vallejo dark wash as well as the matte spray and now trying a custom using some Chaos Black spray. Thanks for all you do.
Great video! I'd like to add that if your figure for some reason is tacky after the final clear coat a night in the freezer fixes that up permanently. Also, leaving the cans in a sink of warm water for 20 minutes gives a great fine and even spray. Keep these great videos up Luke.
Loved it! Wondering if you'd be interested in showing how to paint a fully 3D printed figure from start to finish? There's quite a few on etsy that I want to get but the painting process is really daunting to me.
Excellent job on that HK -- almost makes me want to buy one just so I can give it a try myself! 😀 All could have been avoided if only they had gone with the darker red plastic they used on the previous version of the fig from The Mandalorian -- oh well! Love the repaint of Huyang too, looks much more accurate. Sabine looks cool with the poncho too. 👍🏻
Incredible work! I'm still stumped as to why Hasbro neglected to paint at least the visor. That's just weird... Yours looks 100 times better and so much more realistic. The dry-brushing is magic... Keep up the good work, LL!
Really enjoy this type of content ! Getting a peak into how and why your display looks great, really helps me with my display and my customs. These shorts, make it even easier to just pick up a brush and do hands down! You’re a fantastic content creator my man, keep these vids rolling ! I want to do all of it!
Thank you, thank you, thank you for making this video! I’ve been so curious how you bring these figures to life. That before/after of the HK-87, is just….wow. You’re an artist 👌
Great work as always. I started painting thanks to your advice and videos! I made one or two errors but all in all my collection (especially my Mando stuff) looks awesome. Thanks for the tips and guidance! Keep up the good work :)
Hello Luke thanks again for sharing your ideas for dark washing the red Ahsoka HK-87 droid figure. The staff and different cape makes this figure look so much better , but your custom paint job puts this figure over the top. Another great custom paint video Luke amazing. I wish I had some of your talent for custom figures. But I'd also need money to get the paints and brushes and most importantly better health to get outside and be able to just bend over and not get dizzy. Vertigo is a real pain in the butt, sometimes I can't even walk straight so I use my cane or walker when it's really bad but I get by with my wife's help. Thanks again Luke for demonstrating your techniques they are very informative. I hope you have a great weekend my friend, Tom
Never done a black wash, so I guess this will be the first time for me with this HK droid. I recently painted the Bandai model kit Grievous and was pleasantly surprised it was easier than I thought. I learned to dry brush and panel line on that model kit and funnily my favorite part of that figure is his feet as I added some chrome dry brushing to the feet and they came out great.
Always interested in watching your videos like this. I can’t do anything like this for toffee, but I like watching what you do. Please keep these videos coming.
What a difference. As much as I poopoo on some TBS the sculpts really are phenomenal on some figures it is a shame Hasbro is hindered by budget and can't let these really shine.
M building a HK87 costume at the moment and I was really concerned about what paint I was going to buy but after watching your video I’m going to paint it red and then use an automotive smoke tint spray to darken a standard red paint. Thanks for the inspiration❤
Omg, Iove your paint customs work!! I have a dream to custom paint my BS6" Darth Malgus and Malak. Would you do a tutorial video on how we can paint it to look more detail? Perhaps more premium looking. Thank you for your help.
That looks terrific! The red on the droid's body didn't bother me as much as I thought it would so I limited my custom job to painting the visor, face, and parts of the arm. In the past I've tried making my own wash concoction but I didn't like how it came out so I'll probably just buy a pre-made mix. I use Vallejo paints too, so I'll try that wash. Love the tips. Keep up the great works!
I’ve definitely grown to like doing stuff like this with some of my black series figures, for me it started with Delta Squad just because those figures are way too pristine looking out of the box to be Delta imo
If you want to use a wash, as a wash - you do want a gloss surface. A "wash" is for adding dark contrast in recesses. What you are doing is glazing with a wash in which case you do want a matte surface.
Thanks for another great tutorial video! I acquired all the mats from the NED-B video so I can punch of the look of my Ahsoka and Sabine figures. I love them already but I'm super excited to give them more of the "lived in" Star Wars look. Any quick advice on those figs since they are not droids that I should do different from these videos? I truly appreciate you making these videos even though they don't get the higher views; without them I would not have been inspired to to this myself. Thank you again!
Yeah that HK needs some paint..I don't have any wash but I will give mine a dry brush with maroon/rust colour..and yeah I use toothpicks as well..cheers luke🍺🍺🍻
Love the final product, with you using the wash it reminded me that you said you used a grey wash on your republic commando boss figure, did you ever give the other 3 delta squad members the same wash?
I love these. Just got some painting supplies so it’s the perfect time for me to customize. Thanks for this! Hope you keep making them for those of us that truly enjoy them.
Your custom paint job makes this figure to shine and come to life like in the actual Ahsoka show and it also makes the official one look like a cheaply and poorly executed knockoff version of once a great figure.
I’m overwhelmed by the support here in the comments! Y’all are the best.
this was such an awesome vid!!
Fo Realz. I watch all the TBS tutorials I can find, and yours are about as good as it gets. Your “don’t sweat it” approach really seals the deal.
You really deserve it!
Your comment about peeling the pallet…..spot on. Oddly satisfying lol

I upgrade/repaint almost every figure I collect, so I am always on the lookout for these types of vids and appreciate the effort.
How about an Ahsoka The White? You must’ve done that by now!
I'm a customizer and kitbasher. Always love seeing these videos. Never know when I might learn a new technique. Thanks!
As a hobbyist customizer, super useful to see that you don't NEED to dismantle figs and soap bath them and airbrush them and all that rigmarole to get really fantastic and much quicker results!
Love these tutorial videos Luke! Don’t let the algorithm put you off posting them, they are my favourite videos on your channel mate ❤

Great job! Enjoy your reviews but I often prefer “how to” videos like this one.
Amazing tutorial Luke, your videos have helped me immensely when it comes to customizing and I and many other appreciate all you provide!
Incredible job here. Just amazing work. Not to mention your phenomenal reveal of custom pant jobs at the end. Just very inspiring work.
Great video! I'd like to add that if your figure for some reason is tacky after the final clear coat a night in the freezer fixes that up permanently.
Also, leaving the cans in a sink of warm water for 20 minutes gives a great fine and even spray.
Keep these great videos up Luke.
Wow, you did a fantastic job altering this droid! Now this HK-unit looks truly ancient!
Loved it! Wondering if you'd be interested in showing how to paint a fully 3D printed figure from start to finish? There's quite a few on etsy that I want to get but the painting process is really daunting to me.

LSLuke: Here's more videos for you to listen to while you paint!
Me, repainting my Marrok: How did he know!?!
These types of videos are my favorite that you do. Thanks for sharing all your tips and tricks. Will definitely be giving this one a shot!
Incredible work! I'm still stumped as to why Hasbro neglected to paint at least the visor. That's just weird... Yours looks 100 times better and so much more realistic. The dry-brushing is magic... Keep up the good work, LL!
It is pretty frustrating.

Your repainting of these is spot on, I still can't believe they brought the droid to market like that
I love these kinds of videos. I wish there were more, I learned a lot. Everything came out nice, well done.
I love customizing videos and I'd like to see more of them on your channel
Excellent job. Looks like it could be an actual droid, rather than a shiny plastic toy.
Great work as always. I started painting thanks to your advice and videos! I made one or two errors but all in all my collection (especially my Mando stuff) looks awesome. Thanks for the tips and guidance! Keep up the good work :)
Great video! I never thought of using air paints for figures but I love how it came out! Massive improvement! :))

These guides are so fun to watch
Looks great. Definitely what we should have gotten from Hasbro.
Always interested in watching your videos like this. I can’t do anything like this for toffee, but I like watching what you do. Please keep these videos coming.
Thanks a lot, I am just getting started into the black series custom world, and this is a HUGE help…much appreciated.
Fantastic tutorial! I’ve done some customizing in the past, but am out of practice. This was a great refresher!
Please make more of these. These are your best videos
I’m not a super gifted painter but you definitely got me wanting to try! Great video.
Thank you for another custom video. I really enjoy watching and learning to improve my own techniques.
Great educational video. I've never done this before, but watching you do this has me looking forward to giving it a try. Thank You
Thanks for sharing! Never thought about customizing because I believed it would be too difficult. I'm actually considering it now. Thanks again! 🙂
wasn’t going to get this figure, but after seeing this i definitely have to try it

Giving your paints a good shake before use can help alot with application. Some really good tips, might try that hair drier for a wash
Looks so much more screen accurate! Good job 👍🏼
This was crazy good, I’m such a noob at custom, this was so good to help break me into good habits. Subscribed!
Ive done similar to clone troopers specifically the 212 clone wars its amazing how much this adds to them gives them Character
The HK droid looks awesome for real, what a great job.
What a shame Hasbro can't do it 5% better, at least the balck visor i don't know haha
I really enjoy your videos. I think this one is my favorite. I just picked up one of these today and will make sure to share when I get to it!
Omg, Iove your paint customs work!! I have a dream to custom paint my BS6" Darth Malgus and Malak. Would you do a tutorial video on how we can paint it to look more detail? Perhaps more premium looking. Thank you for your help.
Wow..youre customs are amazing! Love your channel …One Of my favorites!!!
i knew this stuff, but a great video for people getting into it. great job!
Another amazing video! Thanks for the great tips, I am definitely going to be replicating this on my newly acquired pair of HK's.
Great work! Great tutorial! Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for your Channel !!!!❤
Awesome work dude. Huyang is phenomenal too
Fantastic walkthrough, I m definitely going to try this if I can pick up this figure, thanks so much
going to do this to the two i bought. thanks for the tutorial.
I’ve definitely grown to like doing stuff like this with some of my black series figures, for me it started with Delta Squad just because those figures are way too pristine looking out of the box to be Delta imo
would love to se you post all of your customs on youtube when you are making them!
Love these, great job
Just like in the show! I'll try.
Love these types of videos 🤌🔥
Thanks for sharing!
Love your videos man.
damn, here in 5 minutes, great tutorial man
Outstanding work

I love these videos, Luke.
Yeah that HK needs some paint..I don't have any wash but I will give mine a dry brush with maroon/rust colour..and yeah I use toothpicks as well..cheers luke🍺🍺🍻
If I may suggest some gloss varnish on his visor.
I like the brush. It’s pointy
These are the videos I'm here for! ❤ I've subbed for more.
100% improvement!!
Looks amazing!
Love these
Love the final product, with you using the wash it reminded me that you said you used a grey wash on your republic commando boss figure, did you ever give the other 3 delta squad members the same wash?
Not yet!
Thanks for the tips
Major fan here❤
I love these. Just got some painting supplies so it’s the perfect time for me to customize. Thanks for this! Hope you keep making them for those of us that truly enjoy them.
Does that spray affect the joints?
How to stiffen arms or legs to make stronger?
Your custom paint job makes this figure to shine and come to life like in the actual Ahsoka show and it also makes the official one look like a cheaply and poorly executed knockoff version of once a great figure.
Luke- would you suggest a black wash or black dry brush on Marrok? He’s on his way and needs some serious darkening 😂
I tried to shade figures with Tamiya panel line but they were sticky, does Vallejo have the same effect?
Thank you! 🙏🏻
I will start customizing my Ahsoka 🤞🏻 you’ve inspired me
I subbed, thank you for the great video.
How does the paint hold up after a few weeks of posing? Does any of it rub off?
Would Mod Podge matte finish work instead of the matte clear spray paint ? Trying to do it with what I have at home .
Great work!
I want to take a credit collection cara dune and repaint it to the original, any suggestions?
What happens if you paint directly without using the spray?
It would probably mostly come off too easily
