Bret is the best ever because if you watch 10 hours of his matches straight you MIGHT see him do 1 or 2 things total in that entire time that don’t make perfect sense. That’s why he’s the best. Everything he did, even things so minor that they are barely noticeable, always made perfect sense for whatever time of the match it was, or where the momentum was, how hurt he or his opponent was supposed to be, etc, etc. As close to flawless at portraying what these guys are supposed to be portraying as you can get.
You are so right! Bret too me is the best ever. He believed in himself and the business and he took it all seriously. He gets heat for that. But if everyone thought like Bret Hart did. The wrestling business would still be great today.

Frankly, I prefer Angle vs HBK. Brett was probably one of the best technical wrestlers ever, but best PERFORMER? I think Shawn was hands down the best performer of all time. He's not even my favorite wrestler, but whether it was bell-to-bell, promos, or story telling Shawn Michaels put on a performance like no one ever has or likely ever will.
Bret hart and Kurt would have put a masterful show on with amazing story telling. Could of easily reignited Heel bret hart anti American in 2001/2002 against all american kurt. Bret vs Kurt is one of the all time most wished for dream match.
Well Bret has always said that the match he felt he missed out on most of all due to being retired early was Kurt Angle. He held Kurt in EXTREMELY high regard. I would’ve loved to see Kurt Angle, American Olympic Hero against Bret Hart of 1997 Hart Foundation go down anywhere in Canada. OR Bret Hart from 1994 against wrestling machine Kurt from like 05 maybe? But, truly, if they faced each other at anytime when they were healthy it would’ve burned the house down.
Angle should be ashamed of himself. Benoit is a double murderer - his wrestling ability is irrelevant. He should also stop defaming Goldberg for something he didn't do (Bret caused his own concussion by botching a figure four around the posts and smashing the back of his head on the ground).
Bret made me believe, just for a second, that that punch connected, or that elbow from the 2nd rope landed. He was perfect in the ring. Truly the best ever.
@xtra35cent I wouldn't say he absolutely killed he's family, there were loads of issues in the crime that weren't investigated. Plus all he's colleagues say he was stressed and felt someone was following him home, so it's a possibility that someone else could of done it. I'm not saying he didn't do it, but I'm also not sure he did. I have seen to many people being convicted of crime and while being innocent, and I've also seen guilty people go free.
@@nuno289 Benoit had instances of being abusive both at work and at home before the killings. He definitely did it. Some people don't like to come to terms that even a guy who was so talented can do this kind of thing but he did.
This is why I absolutely adore Kurt. He is as honest as they can get about praising people for their in-ring work & letting the world know who are the best of the best in such regards & imo he's there too.
Paul Heyman put it best when he talked about how he became Brock Lesnars manager. I think everyone acknowledges Chris' ring abilities. He's one of the greatest. It's the murder issue that leaves a stain, you could argue with someone that he's a great wrestler and they'll just throw the death of his family in your face. His legacy is forever tainted
Curious how this is a shocking opinion. Anyone who has ever followed wrestling KNOWS Bret Hart is one of if not the greatest in ring performer. Bret made everything look legit & was always able to make his opponents (regardless of their ability) look like a star. I can only assume the shock is the mention of Chris Benoit. When talking about in ring it is hard to argue that. I haven't been able to really watch much of him since that dreadful day.
it sucks thats people like Kurt and HHH literally CANT wrestle anymore but we should respect that & remember hows many weeks and weeks upon months upon years upon decades of content we have of both of them that will never go away!
Brilliant. Bret Hart is undoubtedly the greatest ever wrestler. I'm glad so many wrestlers are coming out and giving him the respect he deserves. Kurt comes across a really cool person here too. Will have to watch more of his interviews
Kurt vs Bret would have been an ultimate dream match. Would’ve been up there with Flair vs Steamboat, Savage vs Steamboat. It would’ve been one of those matches that draws in new fans and the upcoming wrestlers would study.
You hated him because he wanted you to hate him. You probably watched him fight your favorites. Same way hate I HATED Edge with a passion 05/06. I was a John Cena kid. I absolutely love Edge now
I thought Kurt was gonna say Shawn Michaels was the other best in-ring performer/wrestler in the world, apart from Bret Hart, but then he said Chris Benoit, which is true now that I think about it because they both had similar styles as mat technicians but Benoit was also a pretty good high-flyer as well.
Kurt also worked with Benoit way more than Shawn and they had way more influential matches on Kurt's career too so you could see why he would say that.
John Cena praised Shawn Michaels as probably his best in ring co-worker. John basically said, Michaels took care of the nuances of the ring perfectly to ensure the audience never took their eyes off, he made his moves feel painful without hurting John.
Good performer? Yes HBK was good. But Kurt is a technical wrestler and his two choices were two of the best technical wrestlers of all time. The third choice would’ve been Mr. Perfect Kurt Henning.
Every time I tell someone in person that Kurt angle was the greatest wrestler of all time their memory immediately goes back to the 01-02 invasion time and they shake their heads, they say no. Goldberg sucks and didn’t deserve his success because he didn’t like the wrestling business. If he liked the business he would have got trained and learned the craft. Kurt Angle vs Bret Hart would be the most insane of insane matches and it really sucks that we couldn't have it. I really, honestly believe it would've been the greatest match of all time between the two greatest athletes the business has ever had
Bret also couldn’t truly wrestle contractually because he had a settlement with Lloyds of London. At this point in time Kurt references Bret was still trying to get his settlement. He eventually had to sue for it.
I love Kurt, dude will always be one of my favorite childhood wrestlers growing up.. a match or rivalry between him and Goldberg would've been dope🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I really hate that everyone bought into Bret's claim that Goldberg hurt him. I'm no Goldberg fan, in fact I can't stand him, and Goldberg injured other people throughout his career, but Bret wasn't one of them. The whole thing is fabricated because Bret can't fathom that he made a mistake and hurt himself. Then, with Bret being who he is and being so respected, then combine that with Goldberg's reputation, and no one questioned Bret's claim. The thing is, if you watch the match, Bret gets hurt much earlier than *The Kick* by not getting the ring post figure four on right and dropping onto the concrete floor head first. It takes him a long time to get up from that she he's not right for the rest of the match. Then, when the kick happens, if that did contribute to the concussion, that's on Bret. Goldberg didn't throw that kick any harder than he should have and Bret didn't get his hand up to protect himself. Watch Sheamus or Drew McIntyre or Bryan Danielson. They all kick very hard and don't hold back at all. The reason they aren't handing out concussions left and right is because their opponents protect themselves. Bret being a 21 yr+ year vet at that point should've known better. It's possible that the head injury previously in the match contributed to it, but ultimately that's not on Goldberg. Don't take my word for it, though. Go back and watch the match. You'll see exactly what I'm talking about. It really is a shame about Bret & his career being cut short because of that, and I truly empathize for everything he's gone through. Unfortunately, those occurrences and Bret's disposition that he's infallible have led him to go through his life believing he's a victim and that the world is against him. I hope that someday he's able to reflect on his life and focus on the good instead of being stuck in the negativity.
Your completely wrong. Bret hit his head on the floor because Goldberg didn’t grab his feet when he dropped down. Watch any figure 4 on the ring post and every guy grabs the foot of the person so they don’t smash there head on the floor. Then after that he kicks him in the head. Goldberg gave Bret 2-3 concussions that match
Your also completely wrong about Bret not protecting himself, dud you don’t know wrestling or your a Bret hater. Goldberg extends his leg and doesn’t even look to see where he’s kicking, he kicks Bret right in the temple. Bret gets his hand up and Goldberg foot wraps around and nails him. Goldberg is the most unsafe worker in the history of wrestling, he’s hurt so so many people. What you just said is the most idiotic and delusional thing I’ve ever seen
Your comment is so ridiculous I can’t fathom it. You say go watch the match and you’ll see. Buddy you go watch the match and you will see. You are delusional. You saying Bret caused his own concussion is the most idiotic thing I’ve ever seen, do some research buddy instead of falsely saying idiotic stuff, getting people to believe you who don’t know about it.
I never knew Kurt wanted to face Bret Hart at Wrestlemania. Think about it if that happens, it'll be one of the greatest match and a match of who's the best techinical wrestler of all time.
I like how he doesn't apologize for Benoit either. I hate when people always have to qualify for liking him as a wrestler. And yes I realize I am qualifying for Angle.
I met Bret at a Giant Eagle grocery store in a suburb of Pittsburgh in the mid 90’s. I was browsing the bill candy section, (they still had it back then), and I saw a man picking root beer barrels out, unwrapping them, throwing the barrels away and eating the wrapper. I was perplexed, I asked him, “What gives?” He told me there is enough flavor stuck to the wrapper to assuage his sweet tooth and not grow a lumpy assSo brilliant! Changed my relationship with candy for the rest of my life. I started doing the same thing, within 6 months I had a major bowel obstruction and had to have 6 feet of my intestines removed, along with my colon. I now make bowel movements in a colostomy bag, but I never gained another pound and was able to kick my diabetes. That man eating the wrappers is, was, and always will be my hero. That man was Bret Hart.
I love how Kurt still openly speaks about Chris benoit as a wrestler, people forget they can admire the wrestler he was but not what he did. The Benoit Kurt angle dynamic was a whole different breed of wrestling I haven’t seen since the ruthless aggression era.

Chris Benoit vs. Kurt Angle - Royal Rumble 2003. One of the best matches of all time.
@@Saba316 agreed
Respect to a child murderer, what an awesome thing.

Kurt also worked with Benoit way more than Shawn and they had way more influential matches on Kurt's career too so you could see why he would say that.

Someone already stated and I second that if Bret and Kurt ever wrestled it would probably be the greatest match of all time between 2 of the greatest , or as Kurt stated towards Bret and Chris “ The Greatest “ so humble .. Kurt you know you’re up there with both of them ❗️💪🏽
In Brets own book he talks about wrestling for another month in hardcore matches on house shows and taking powerbombs, chair shots etc... at this point, can we stop blaming Goldberg for Brets career ending? We didn't know then, what we know now. But now we do, and the whole thing was managed poorly due to the lack of knowledge and misfortune.
I can't stand how people knock Goldberg for what happened by accident to Bret. Bret's supposed to be "the best" and yet he couldn't block the kick that he probably knew was coming? Come on...It's called wrestling, and things happen. People get hurt. Now that's an amazing thought. I'm just tired of people whining about it, especially since Goldberg explained he didn't mean to hurt Bret seriously and apologized. At the end of the day, if you don't want to get hurt, stay out of the ring, especially with Goldberg!
Kurt putting over Chris Benoit out of the blue like that is wild but I respect it.
Absolutely agree with him, literally no better in ring performer and story teller than Bret. Angle vs Hart in their prime could easily outgone the length of an iron man match, they were both that good
Bret Hart vs Kurt Angle is my absolute dream match. I always say if they ever create CGI Wrestling, thats the match I want. Im willing to bet Bret probably shed a tear at that call because to be so great, the peak of your sport and not be able to do it,especially with a Goat like Kurt. I know that ate him up.
Cgi wrestling, what a great idea 💡 👏
I've said a few times surely they could deepfake it by now and let the crowd know what's what so they cheer as though it's those two in the ring instead of who's playing their parts
They could tell the wrestlers playing the parts what they want to happen in their match from start to finish
Top Five technical wrestlers
1. Bret Hart
2. Kurt Angle
3. Brock Lesner
4. Chris Benoit
5. William Regal
"WTF was I talking about?" I relate to that statement so well
it warms my heart hearing kurt talk about Bret. mostly because I agree with him completely, and the only person I put up there along side the names he mentioned is him, Kurt is definitely a GOAT.
Brett Hart vs Kurt Angle would have been so epic.
Prime Angle (USA) VS 97 Heel Bret (Canada)? My god those matches would be legendary. Bret is also my favorite technical wrestler to ever lace a pair of boots.
My top 10 list:
Bret Hart
Kurt Angle
Shawn Michaels
Curt Hennig
Eddie Guerrero
Chris Benoit
Owen Hart
Ricky Steamboat
Ric Flair
Randy Savage
Bret vs Kurt would have been so amazing
Hard to believe this is the same uptight dude who got offended to the point of threatening to sue ECW. Time and the industry really changed him I think, he seems like the chillest guy alive and he really understands the business in a way that I think would have him approaching that ECW situation completely differently.
