    The BOSS SL-2 Slicer audio pattern processor is a pedal that defies categorization. Join Don Carr for a sample of how this little box can chop, screw, and twist audio into complex rhythms and grooves. The SL-2 takes inspiration from BOSS’s original SL-20 pedal but shrinks the SL-20‘s footprint significantly. There are five ways to slice signal - single, dual, tremolo, harmonic, and SFX - along with 11 rhythms options, tempo controls, tap tempo, MIDI in, expression/control in, stereo I/O, and a dedicated BOSS app for accessing additional patterns and effects. Check it out!

      I'm having a huge letdown with MIDI sync, in that mine doesn't sync. I love Boss generally, but the SL-2 has been a letdown in that department. And there's no way to talk to a Tech and figure out whether I'm doing it wrong or I just got a doinger. I would still recommend the SL-2 for home recording as it's a really unique Unit. I just don't see how you would use it Live.

I used to think crazy, over the top stuff like this was gimmicky- until I started listening to some of the art created with them- in the right hands, they're amazing. I can't do anything with some of these crazy fuzz pedals- but Jack White can. Someone like Thomas Dolby comes along and they're going to be like a kid in a candy store nowadays.

    • @sweetwater
      @sweetwater  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, stockholm17. Aside from the smaller format, there are some nice additions to the SL2 that the original SL20 didn’t have. For one, having the ability to connect it with MIDI, so it can easily be synced with a pedal switcher, keyboard rig, or even a DAW for mix effects. Also, the Tone Studio app is a big advantage to this one since you can much more easily customize the sounds you’re getting. It also offers seven stereo output modes. Essentially it’s an SL20 that doesn’t take up nearly as much space and adds all the features that most users thought that pedal was lacking.

    In addition to all the other cool stuff it does, could you use this as a regular, old-fashioned tremolo? I’m interested in one, but I’m wondering if it would be worth selling my Boss tremolo pedal to help fund it.

      Hi, Jared! Thanks for your message, Happy New Year!
      There is a “Tremolo” setting on the SL-2. That said, it’s not exactly the same as the TR-2. If you want the best of both worlds, the Slicer is the more versatile option.
      Please contact us direct with other questions as you have them!

    Excellent review! Great playing, but I wouldn't really want the pedal. It's a little like the SY-300, but more compact and easier to use for half the price. Thanks for the demo though :-)

    It's interesting. I own a Boss Trem but after hearing my BYOC trem I just can't use it.

    In combo with a looper otherwise has limited application in terms of live use.

    This might sound childish, but I find it hilarious that one of the controls is called the duty and the one right above it is called the attack control, it's just funny because controlling the attack of the duty 🤣 like I said it's a little childish of me to point that out, but it's also really funny.
