Flying To Breakfast...In Beautiful Santa Paula, California!

  • It's becoming Spring in Southern California and that provides my wife and I with a beautifully scenic flight to breakfast in Santa Paula! Cafe 126 is right there at the airport and it has great food mixed with awesome views. The Santa Paula airport is non-towered and is a favorite hangout for tail-draggers of all kinds. But no one will hassle you if you arrive in a Cessna 172, like we did. Private leisure flying at its best?

    Great flight into Santa Paula Airport. I live in SP and have enjoyed the airport and plane sighting for many years, even worked there 46 years ago.

    Really great video. I felt like I was in the plane. I should see this on my big TV for a greater thrill I think.

    I'm 67, Started flying aged 18,most of my hours on taildraggers here in the UK. Flying from farmstip to farmstip mostly. I'm really impressed by your progress, and the beautiful environment for flying in your neck of the woods Max.

    Ah yes the ultimate sweep you away morning breakfast! The airport diners are the best breakfasts ever! Napa has fabulous burgers if you get a chance!
    I was waiting for the wife to pass out from the return flight and a food coma! 😂😂😂

    Hi! Super fun video. As a SZP local, was wondering if you flew right traffic to land on 04. It sort of looked like you came straight in from the west.

    • @HeavyMetalHorizons
      @HeavyMetalHorizons  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! No, straight in for runway 4 if I recall!

    • @walthastingsRV-7A
      @walthastingsRV-7A ปีที่แล้ว

      Straight-ins are not recommended at SZP….
      According to the
      AF/D: “Enter pattern
      from extended downwind leg or enter from a crosswind leg at least 1 mile byd the dep end of active rwy”😅
      Many years ago when I was a student pilot, I did a straight in approach and got an earful from the airport manager😮

      I totally agree Walt. That’s why I posted that comment. Straight in approaches are very much frowned upon at SZP.

    I guess you saw during editing that your wife didn't have her shoulder harness on correctly. I haven't flown somewhere to eat since about 1977. I used to fly my dad's 1972 Cherokee Arrow II..

    To help the kids learn culture and the history of California. They should build a museum in Santa Paula about how the United States defeated Mexico in the late 1840s.
