      Agree, this is what is all about Musk's claim, how worried they are for customer base and labor power in the future, not population extinction. If population extinction was really important for them, why still keep supporting fossil fuels slow energy transition?, affecting climate change and bringing death to vulnerable communities around the world in developing countries. The concern is their own nation´s extinction which would undermine future customer base and how many people will be available to work for them. Trying to solve this issue with money won't solve the underlying causes and therefore won't solve anything.
      @rahulvig5298
      Demographics changes and trends are really slow, just one decade isn't enough, see projections were made for year 2100.

    • @neomn1350
      @neomn1350 หลายเดือนก่อน

      hmm. With quite a lot of robots + automation already in place, many of the manual labor intensive tasks are being automated. Next, with the huge progress of AI (like chat-gpt, etc), even tasks performed by humans that required a limited amount of intellect / intelligence / thinking, are in line to being automated.
      how exactly will bill gates, or melinda gates, or musk, or trump, or any of the other billionaires will have any issue with the scenario? They already have billions in wealth. They can easily afford all of the above machines. Plus - they wouldn't even need to pay the machines in a way comparable to the human labor.
      Humanity as a whole might not go extinct. But those specific cultures, those values, those ethos - like the singaporean, korean, japanese, chinese, italian, etc - those will vanish.
      Instead - those groups which continue to procreate at record levels - which typically have do not share singaporean or korean or japanese culture, values, ethos - those groups will survive.

    Women in Western countries are pressured to have a successful career and work long hours, contribute equally on financial terms to the marriage while also physically bearing the children, raising and educating them. It's even worse now with the cost of living as even two income families are working only for survival. It's not possible for a woman in this situation to have more than one or two children. Especially when they delay having children to their 30s or 40s - grandparent now too old to help look after the kids. Women now have to care for children and parents at the same time and it's too much hard work. They are exhausted. Children raised in this way are also insecure and do not experience the value of a family or community.

    I live in Singapore & I love the country, it's people & the government here. They are working as efficiently as a country can. Singapore is easily the fittest country in the world too. One big problem nobody is talking about is the ability to give enough time to children. Over-reliability on helpers to look after the kid or putting them to childcare has become a norm. This is primarily due to long working hours & lack of work-life balance. Government is encouraging companies to adopt flexible work environments but the private companies make life difficult for it's employees. Life is like a race here. The race should be won but without losing it's people.

      Buying power is driven by resource availability and productivity. If there's a limit to resources such as iron, declining populations may improve commodity prices as reduced iron demand limits iron production to the cheapest to operate mines as iron prices fall. However, if such limits are not a question, then the real limit to wealth is productivity. Declining populations don't necessarily increase productivity, beyond a certain point, it may decrease it due to decreased division of labor and the productivity advantages from specialization. But future AI and robots do.

      When population declines, the opportunities too will decline. If there is less population why should there be the current number of jobs.
      For examples if you have 2000 clerks in your town. Suppose the population goes down I know you think you can with your improved odds compete easily for those jobs . But the reality is population is halved, the number of clerks posts gets halved as well

    • @rajeshsuseelan6863
      @rajeshsuseelan6863 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No. Not as simple as that. The poor and middle class will not get richer as population declines. Wealth redistribution is not equal. The wealthy may get richer while the poor will get poorer.
      Lower population will lead to lower demand for housing and land, eroding the value of those assets, hence making the owners poor.
      Economic production declines, leading to lower consumer demand and depress the incomes.
      Ultimately, the government will need to decide how to prioritise. Social welfare or economic development, taxation, investment, automation will all be impacted.

And now everything AI, companies want profits, they do not want expensive labor cost. So more people to be squeezed into more tinier space, drink bad water, little food. Earth is finite, over the last 100 years, we have dug up and consumed most of what it had produced last 5 billion years. Maybe when everyone have billionaire lifestyles with no worries of work, large space to live in, lots of free time to enjoy, plenty of nice food to eat, then talk about running out of people.

    Also there are two key things
    1. there will come an infliction time in future while population is dropping. People will migrate in extremely large numbers, especially you go from poor country to rich ones country mainly USA. This will cause sudden last leg of the country as it can't operate as successful country which requires a minimum of people and common business and sociatial functions.
    2. Depopulate will happen in poor countries first (not developed country) also continental will cease to exist as most people will fly to USA. Asia may go first, then africa or other continents. It may be 100 to 200 years of prediction as different people will measure it by different scale.
